come'on no one's perfect here, i think anyone can do the currect anatomy, and lasirus > normal bats xDD

Unnatural angle for a bat's ears? Oh, reeeeaalllly?

<a href="http://www.wildlifetrust.org.uk/nottinghamshire/reserves/Fred's%20Folder/Brown%20long%20eared%20bat.jpg">Well, then, someone should tell this poor little guy before he pulls a muscle.</a>

If my mind remember correctly, the dragons were based off of real animals, much as the Lasirus is, and the creators came up with the same solution: an elbow finger.

And if you're really going to nitpick the wing structure of any pet, you might as well add in the Magnus and Lain.
Artistic license does allow for minor changes in order to present a better aesthetic effect, you know.

There's something about it's position that bugs me. Then again...I don't have one and never will so it doesn't matter that much to me. I liked some of the features of the old one (previous not super old) though.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

i like the one before this upgrade it looks more like a girl type lasirus, but the newer one is so amazing i would definetly adopt one of them

Ugh, you people are to picky and those saying the angles where wrong? Um...they didn't CHANGE from the last one. It got a little darker, got ear markings, darker stripes and gained a tooth from the previous revamp. Yet people are saying that one was so much better? The pose is exactly the same .

Just because a bat can move his ears does not mean that it will move it like that. It's a very unnatural angle for even a bat's ears. If you look at it, the top part looks like it's either pushed down or wind-blown.
Actually, I do recall what a neck is, and I attempted hunching over like that myself, with my neck tilted back like that, my back hunched and my shoulders hunched forwards, and it was very uncomfortable for me.
And where the dragons from Animal Planet's Dragon real? If I remember, they where digitally created and not filmed in the wild. A fantasy 'made real' doesn't mean that those huge things could get off the ground with wings like that. While I am fully aware that the Lasirus isn't real, I adore bats and the furry little guys use the wings for so much- flying, walking, grabbing things, holding fruit, cuddling their children, scooping insects out of the air, even hopping. Unless the Lasirus somehow has that... charcoal powered body?-or steam, was it?- and hollow bones that the dragon has, I doubt it would work here.
And it's not widened far enough. If you look at the far wing, just above the knee, we have a white spot without any membrane, meaning that the wing cuts in sharply and it would hinder the bat's movement by catching minimal or no updraft or breeze by the body, where it- with its small wings- would need it the most.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by hollo

Wow, all right. Let's see...

"For the ears to be tilted in that direction, there needs to be wind, and the entire fluffy bits of it would be blowing in that direction and not just the ears."

That's not necessarily true. A bat has a high range of motion in its ears, and watching any bat program on any station would show that they're able to twist them pretty much every-which-way, depending on where they've sent out their echolocation, and from what direction its coming back in.
Given the fact that the Lasirus is not an 'ordinary' bat, I'd say it has the right to use the batty ability to twist its ears whichever way it wants, whenever it wants, regardless of whether there is wind or not.
Remember, bat ears are stiff, not floppy like some dogs, that need wind to blow them back, and even dogs with needles ow! ed ears, or cats, have the ability to lay their ears back without any wind showing up. Besides, stiff ears, even in high wind, rarely get blown back.

"...and the way it's hunched looks highly uncomfortable with it's head tilted back like that."

The Lasirus has something called a neck, and it is using it. Try striking the pose (I did it right now); I think you'll find it, while strange, not entirely uncomfortable. The thing is, if you're thinking of the Lasirus as having a strictly-short-bat-like-neck, then no, this pose wouldn't be comfortable. But I think its apparent, from the location of the shoulders and the place where the neck peeks out from under its chin, that the Lasirus has a longer neck than a regular bat, one that connects in a way that allows it hold its head up while scrunching/hunching its shoulders down.

And if the wing-membrane bothers you, just take a look at the dragons from Animal Planet's Dragons: A Fantasy Made Real. They'd need the same type of support, most people think, that modern-day bats have, yet in the show they're flying around with their wing-membranes connected at mid-body length instead of thigh or tail. Apparently, the crew who thought them up decided that flight mechanics would still work even with the membrane that short, so the same could be true for the Lasirus.

And before I forget, a lot of people before and some still now were/are talking about the elbow-finger. The elbow-finger, in a way, takes a little of the pain out of the fact that the Lasirus's wing membrane doesn't extend to its lower-thigh/tail area. If there were no elbow-finger, the membrane would most likely cut in sharply and be very narrow at that point, and the Lasirus would be getting quite a bit of drag, and no air support with each beat of its wings.
However, with the elbow-finger there, its wing-membrane is widened to nearly the same point as it would have been if the membrane extended to the thigh, helping keep the bat aloft and fixing that small problem.
Draw it out and you'll see the idea...

The angles on the new one are all wrong. =( The old one's gorgeous, though. Why all the revamps? Most of these pets were perfect...no need to fix what isn't broken, right? Don't make this into another neo-you-know-what. x.x

The ears seem too laid back and the furtherest one bothers me... for some reason. The black inside the ears is a bit creepy too, but over all it's very pretty! Well done.

(PS - I don't have one and am not getting one anyways, so my vote may not count as much...)

I think the pose is much better and some aspects far surpass the current version, but the reason I voted for the old one is - this version's head reminds me too much of the Dragarth's. It just strikes me as not bat-like and just as if we've got yet another dragon/dog animal, only this one has wings.

Another criticism would be that the angle of the head looks strained. Not only does this make it look out of place on the body, it seems to lack the character that it has in the old version.

I'm using figures like Pain and Panic from Hercules and Bartok from Anastasia as points of reference.

Srill don't like it. There seem to be hardly any differences, from the tilt of the war to the tiny head to the fact that the poor bat wouldn't be able to fly and the fact that he looks crammed into the box. The only things I CAN see different are the stripes and the smile. It looks like too much time has been spent decorating the cake than making sure that it's cooked properly, if you follow. Fine detailing is all good and dandy, but you NEED the basics down. For the ears to be tilted in that direction, there needs to be wind, and the entire fluffy bits of it would be blowing in that direction and not just the ears. It wouldn't be able to fly, either, with the wings not connected properly. The membranes on a bat's wings are connected differently than a bird's wings... and the way it's hunched looks highly uncomfortable with it's head tilted back like that.

I voted for the new one. I loved the previous version of this revamp, but I think the dark brown around the ears is even better. And if there have to be stripes, then I think making them darker and adding them to the back was a good choice. They looked oddly placed highlights before.

The only thing I don't like is the smirk. I know it was added to appease the people who liked its sneaky look before, but it cuts back too far into the cheek and stands out as cartoonish on a otherwise semi-realistic looking revamp.

It wouldn't keep me from getting one, or recoloring my current one, but I'd like it if it were changed back to the first revamp mouth.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User
