AOL and Netscape Users!

Incase you are unaware, AOL has ended support for it's Netscape browser. That means no more content or security updates. The developers of AOL/Netscape have suggested using Flock which is based on the FireFox browser. If you use Netscape or AOL, you should have an update that allows you to upgrade directly to Flock. Again - we are no longer supporting either AOL or Netscape on Subeta, or the rewrite. :)

Ryuuko, you can download another browser if you have AOL dialup. I use AOL for connecting too, but I use Firefox for Subeta. It's pretty fast in my opinion.

Does anyone know if I can download those if I have dial-up? x___x;;; I have AOL and it's the only thing I can get where I live. I'm using IE right now to be able to use Subeta, and it takes at least 5 minutes for a page to load. (AOL is faster than that for me btw)

Will Flock or FireFox be the same way for me, or will it be faster? And which one should I download if it will work? Sorry for all the questions, I'm stupid when it comes to these thing. xD

I always get Gecko mixed up with Mozilla. Yes, my Netscape 7 says "Gecko" on the "About" tab. But it also says "Mozilla" somewhere else. As you can tell, I am not a techie, lol...

Heh...yes, AOL is still alive...if you use that term loosely. I've been bugging my dad for months to switch. He can't use a computer so he doesn't have to endure this pain!! Sorry...little rant there. Thanks the Gods for Firefox.

Is AOL still alive?

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

Forgot to say that FF, SeaMonkey, Flock and K-Meleon are all based on the Gecko engine.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

I've always used Flock to play here

Die-hard Netscape user here. At the risk of showing my age, I fondly remember the days that Netscape was King ~ before Bill Gates decided to usurp the Internet with his IE browser.

I guess I'll have to start using my Firefox instead. It's similar enough to Netscape 7, since both are built on the Mozilla engine.

Hooray for it not being an IE problem.

I know Keith, it is not your fault at all. I am still sad since I really liked Netscape. But I knew this was going to happen eventually. This is why I tried to get use to other browsers, this is also why I have so many of them. But I don't like the others. Guess I'll have to swith to another one eventually

But don't worry, it's not your fault at all.

I still use aol and have been having loads of problems with it lately. They never sent out any messages about it and I had no clue this had happened.
I've been using aol for 8 years now it's quite upsetting to have to switch

Oh my god. I think I just died a little. AOL is ALL my family uses. They won't let me download anything else, which is why I've been stuck without trades or my roleplaying fourm buddies for the past few months. Subeta... I can't imagine life without it... I'd be, like, totally cut off from all my internet friends and unable to chat with my real life friends since some of them don't have email and it's not like I'm going to write paper letters.... 😭

wow they fix a problem in the site , let see if they can keep the site up , so that way we can figure out if the problem is the browser or the the site that is always down , or under repair , or back in 5 min ( that can be from 5 to 55 to 65 or 105 min.) LOL

People still used Netscape (before now of course)?

How about compiling a list of supported browsers for your help section? That way if people are having trouble they can see what browser they're using or which one they need to play on Subeta.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

Same here.
I had AOL for around 2months a few years back.
It was awful then, and I heard it got worse.

I don't know how anyone would want to use it.

The netscape engine is really only used by .8% of internet users, but that's still a fairly large chunk.

And a lot of them have been reporting not being able to login lately, so.
