It would seem as though the latest Costume Trunk has revealed a new face to the public. As mysterious as they are elegant, these new sets may bring you just a little bit closer to nature and the spirits of the wilds--or perhaps a little closer to the fire and glory of the sun. selling something that can be broken down and selling individual items that can possibly be formed into a whole are two different entities.

and, as far as i know, remixes and mashups are subject to the same copyright laws - they're just done on a case-by-case basis. individuals who wish to make remixes or mashups of another's work are still required, by law, to obtain permission from the individual and, in some cases, pay royalties.

When you two start being Blizzard's legal authority, Keith will have something to worry about. The costumes in question can be broken up, thereby making it the user's choice whether they want to imitate a character if they want to. You're paying for the singular costume pieces, regardless. Note how other people have re-arranged the items for their HAs. It's like the people who make tributes to songs by rearranging the music. (Specifically thinking OCremixes here. They do take money for it too)

yes, spirit, they are.

i'm all for having tributes to popular culture. i play wow, i would love to be able to dress up as my character here. but i'm also someone who doesn't think that it's right to make money off of another's creative works. and that, ultimately, is what i feel is happening here. make it free and i have no complaints, though i'm not sure if blizzard would feel the same. regardless, they look great. would just rather not have the legal stigma floating about.
