I fail to see how my ability to do better work has anything to do with my ability to recognize better work when I see it. : Do I forfeit my right to suggest that something be reshaded simply because I cannot do it? That's logical.

FYI, I've been the art Director for Subeta twice. I do tend to critique stuff out of habit.

Of course I've seen a throwing pie. My issue isn't the level of detail or lack thereof on this one. It is the lackluster shading of the heavily dyed whipped cream. It doesn't need a fancy aura, sprinkles, or a cherry on top. It doesn't need to look so flat either though.

It's not a normal baked goods regular edible pie, it's a throwing pie, which are traditionally basically just plain or colored/flavored whipped cream in a pan, and not even a baked good item at all. They don't have sprinkles, fruit toppings, etc. (mainly because it would be a waste, not to mention potentially going into the throwee in the booth's eyes); they are one color. Have you never been to a fair or street carnival and thrown a throwing pie?

I'm going to have to agree with Luxe and Luka_Pooka. The pie is brand-new and already needs a redraw... both the wearable version and the icon.

I think it would really help to have some crust on it or sprinkles or fruit slices on top or SOMETHING... two colors just doesn't cut it for items these days.

I didn't mean to insinuate that Subeta's items should all be feminine and swirly, Lynelle. I realize now that's what I picked out. I was just looking for baked goods for a more even comparison. I just think that Subeta's style has evolved too far from that simplistic look.

Certainly not girly, but they still fit in with Subeta's standard.

That pie is ugly - it looks like, oh I don't know, oatmeal or something. Not pie. A pie can be drawn well - it doesn't have to be 'girly' with flowers and so on. And how does we need more guy things = a badly drawn pie?

I agree with Luxe on some sort of quality control test. Frankly I'm astonished that Subeta doesn't already have one.

I like the idea but I think these pies are lacking. They're drawn so rough and ...bleh. This looks like an 04-05 item. Sorry to the artist.

Luxe, I completely agree with you that the second set of items are more appealing.

I don't agree that all items should be drawn that way, but let me explain.

A friend of mine (male) joined the site, and he was commenting to me about how girly everything is. Most of the clothing. All the wigs until recently were girly.

Subetas items need to appeal to a wide range of people, not just the people that like pretty, swirly, girly items (even though those are my personal favorite). I also love the haunted juices. I think I'm just easy to please. xD

I'm really not excited about these pies. They're not what users have come to expect from Subeta, and if they have more than 6 colors on them, I will be amazed. I think Subeta has come too far away from this sort of style to try to start using it again. It worked when Quetzal and Defect and mysterytwister were drawing items in 2004. Not now.

I've seen more of this artist's work, so I know she is capable of better. This isn't a judgment on her talents. I love her work. This just makes me wonder if it was a similar situation as those haunted juices of questionable quality that went out recently. Subeta really needs to have some sort of quality control before an item "goes out the door", so to speak.

OH god no. Not Killer Klowns. I watched that movie when I was 7 and had a nightmare that they were chasing my family to turn my little cousin into a french fry. Scariest dream EVER.
