"It did not, therefore, require the use of quotation marks."

Um...yeah, actually it did. Without the quotes the sentence has an entirely different meaning. When you are talking about a word itself, rather than using the word according to its meaning, you HAVE to have quotes. No quotes means the word is read as its meaning.

Just to put an end to this once and for all, that was NOT even an incorrectly formed question grammatically speaking. The question contained none of the following: a direct quote, an indirect quote, a title, or any words used in an ironic manner. It did not, therefore, require the use of quotation marks.

As soon as I entered the number 8, the real answer hit me like an eight ball on the noggin. So darn tricksy...trivias are never what they seem.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

Man, I feel stupid. It was either I put eight or raspberry tart as the answer, and both were wrong. Oh well... the hair wasn't that great...

I know for sure I at least got this one correct, though.

I knew it couldn't be a straight math answer. That would be too easy... so I took a chance on it being "the remainder" since I remember so many times when there was a disclaimer on a question, saying, "This is not a trick question. Don't put "such-and-such" as the answer," but this one had no disclaimer =)

haha I put eight and submitted it before i found the answer. Not that I mind though, it was just funny.^^ I kinda like these sneaky ones, they make you think more.

Haha. See, I knew it was "the remainder." I had a teacher in elementary school that gave us a sheet about following directions, and I learned then to read everything twice. Not that it took two readings. I laughed out loud and answered it the first time.

Ugh...I debated for so long on whether to put "the remainder" or "remainder" since trivias usually are the simplest and shortest answer, as well as ignoring the article. But I must have read the question 10 times before finally deciding to use "the remainder" - I was so sure I would get it wrong.

Did they change the name of the prize, or is it my brain being weird?

The only reason I got it is because they never said to actually do a math problem and they never said what remainder. That's the way I thought of it anyway.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

Yay! I got it right. Good thing I never bothered to read the first part of the question. It was much too long.

ok you got me good on that last trivia...that was priceless !! Must learn to use other side of brain once in awhile ..teehehee Now I hope I got this one right or I'll be burying this brain in the nearest sand pile !!!
