Oh no! Hearing the death wails of his fallen (and delicious!) minions, the mighty Hydragellos has made his stand! Are you strong enough to defeat this gelatin terror? :o
Good luck!

"Wow, SHQ says, that he has now a Catastrophe equipped. Think, thats not fair, opponents should not get better equipment, so younger battlers will have it much harder to beat him. Will there be a second one at another time of day, so others can try their luck, too?"

Actually personally I think its fair, since when his set was last done, he had some of the best items available at the time, so it only makes sense that he would be updated to keep up with the stronger weapons made available to us. So he's still just as hard as he was last time he was out.

I can understand the disappointment of certain users. I wasn't interested in attempting to defeat him, but I think the complaints are valid. Especially if this has happened several times and their chance only comes once per year.

Perhaps I'll be ready to take him on next time he comes around My pet is getting there at least I saw him this time, but wasn't ready equipment-wise.

I'd assume thats probably because the people winning have the strongest pets? If its difficulty were increased, it would still be the same ones of us winning, others would just have even less of a chance. After all it started with a bit over 1 million HP.

They only release a single one altogether? So what's the point of this?!

Also I find it ... strange ... (just looked at the high scores) that it's always the same and just right those very 3 people, who get to challenge him, esp. at such a weird time of day - erm, night? How come?

More complaints will come.

Also, if you kill it once...then twice, the difficulty of the Hydragellos does go up quite dramatically. So if someone wins, it'll be harder the next time. The only thing that makes the Hydragellos easy is the fact it doesn't do much damage, and pets with high HP will clean house with Turkey Quill or God/Goddess Weapons.

"There's many ways to release a rare challenger while still allowing a lot of people the chance to beat it. Release one once an hour (at a random time each hour) for a day or two. That gives people in different time zones and with offsite obligations (ie jobs) a chance at killing one if they desire to. Or you could release one once a day at varying times, or heck, release more then one at a time.

I think though that a limit should be placed on how many times you can beat something like this when its released."

  1. I have a job, college, and i even discovered drinking too much with mates when i got old enough to buy it legally.

So, the argument 'i have a job' isnt valid. Time zones same thing, since im in the UK, i was battling at 3AM, your unlikely to live in a place with a more awkward time to be awake?

  2. More than one released at a time? That only actually happened once, since the way it works (I presume this isnt meant to happen) is if you start a battle with a limited opponent, it only actually ends when that battle ends, since 1 Hydragellos was released, i beat one, and (just happened) a 2nd friend won, making that 3.

  3. Limited amount of times someone can beat something? How about no? Heard of the word bitter before?

My message got cut off...

Just to add on to the end, I don't mean to say that you can only ever beat the guy X amount of times, but a time delay like most activities on here have would be nice. For instance, you could only beat one once ever 4 hours or something, if they were to do a staggered hourly release or release a bunch of them at one time.

And grats Phenomenon on beating him!

I have to agree with Distinction on this one. There's typically more then 800 users on here at a time, generally more then 1000 if the sites been up long enough. Releasing /one/ battle opponent isn't fair in any sense of the word. Sure, maybe you aren't trying to be fair, but in my mind its sort of like a slap in the face to everyone who wanted a chance to try their luck against the opponent.
Considering that only 8 of the things have been released on the site, I don't think saying "There's next time" is any sort of consolation. Whose to say the next time won't be over a year from now, or even at all really.

There's many ways to release a rare challenger while still allowing a lot of people the chance to beat it. Release one once an hour (at a random time each hour) for a day or two. 10:33 the news, now it's 11:33 (4 o'clock in the morning! mere chance I drop in now) and none of them there anymore? I've never seen one of those in the 3 times (?) they have been around. This is getting annoying! Obviously they are not easy ones, anyway, so how come/why are there not enough for everyone to at least try them?

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

"if you were unable to battle it, clearly, there is a next time."

Well, after a year and a half on the site, I have to say that there is most certainly a next time, and I will just as certainly miss it evidentally.

A lot of things about the site are luck. People have to.. just learn to deal with it I guess? Not everyone gets items that are released in the token shop, or whatever. Just try again next time, I suppose.

I think you will find, im very inactive now, but it doesnt take much 'common sense' to realise, that he would be released when the Golems were all, or nearly all gone, so... it wasnt hard to time being online at the right time

Either way, i had some fun here again, and... thats the most important thing?

And now im back up there as one of the more unpopular users, i can go and finish watching Lost

Decrease stat multiplier upon winning...that's my suggestion. Took me almost 45 minutes. x_x Ouch.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

Well, would it be so bad to just plan it ahead of time and say "x challenger will be here at y time"? That way it would give more of the interested parties a chance at playing along, instead of it just being a luckfest. And lest I be misunderstood - no, I'm not saying that it's luck to defeat the opponent I know that takes training and weapons. But whether or not you even get to join the fray is all about luck.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

This business of special opponents on this site is getting to the point of being repeatedly disappointing. Like too way too many other things here, it all comes down to being on the site at exactly the right time. And for the third time since this challenger has been released, I of course wasn't at the computer. I know that not all of life is fair, but there's got to be a better way to handle this than the way it's being handled now.
