Well, I honestly never understood why it was "official" in the sense that what happened in there might as well have happened on the site.

I think it's a great idea. While can be related to subeta.net, it makes sense that for all the recent issues that it just doesn't need to be official.
Sure it will go offitopic, it's IRC. Contacting support onsite makes more sense, anyway, since most support I've seen asks for sMails even if in IRC. Makes for paper trail easier.

I stopped using it awhile ago as a lot of the chat was unrelated to Subeta and was quite boring. I like the forums better and it's more Subeta related. I don't go to the off Subeta related chat forums much either as I can do that anywhere
