Amazing how many people get so angry and yell about the site being down. Its a problem for all of us but there is no reason to attack the staff and creator of the site. BE GLAD he replys and tries to explain what has happened. I use to play on a different and very well known pet site and they never replied to concerns like Keith does. Im glad to have changed to Subeta and will deal with the downtimes even though it is upsetting I know they are working to a bigger and better Subeta for all of us. Just be patient people

I was quite mad yesterday. I woke up at 9:30 (Subeta time) and when I went to bed at around 10 (still, Subeta time), I had not seen one second of up time.
GRR. I was hoping Subeta would relese some Welsh themed items. I guess not. They celebrate every holiday in the book exept Welsh ones. Thanks ~ btw it was Dydd Gwyl Dewi or in English Saint David's Day. =/

Although frustrating, I can live with a few problems while waiting for the new code. Although I do wish shops would go back to 100 items a page for us slow loading people...
For those who come from WTF, it was the same there to the first few years and still is. Some things just take a while to fix (thinks of pound on WTF). I or we should be grateful we at least get some info on what is happening here...
PS - I need a job, will work for a new computer, hehe, come on Keith, send me a new PC and Ill be your PR guy and distract the angry mobs

I have a question, if I can ask it here. It doesn't relate to the downtime, but it does relate to problems on the site that haven't been fixed.
Since the gardens are unusable for anyone who planted Banana Seeds, and the Aeanoid Seed is one of only(?) two ways to get an Aeanoid, could someone who had an Aeanoid Seed but didn't have a usable garden contact a UA to give up their seed and have one of their pets turned into an Aeanoid?
Buumon - I'm working on that right now The cron is a little wonky though, because of some of the changes we made to the servers. If it's not reset in the next hour, it's because I went to bed (I have a bedtime too!)
I don't think people are ungrateful, I think they're addicted and don't take to withdrawl too well.
I'm glad it's back up. I'm annoyed when it's down when I have time and want to play, but I wouldn't be angry or ungrateful unless there was no explanation for what the problem is. Knowing why something has to be annoying makes it less annoying.
Ok enough about things that can't be fixed.
I KNOW you guys can reset the Chron when its broken. So can you PLEASE do that so we can do our quests today? (I am saying please, yes its a small miracle I know how to say the P word. Don't have heart-attacks though. I'd feel a itty bit guilty )
The fact that you recognize where the frustration comes from and the validity of it does more for soothing my original sense of injustice than your other explanations, especially in response to the user whose opinion obviously differs greatly from my own. I appreciate that and will shut up for now.

Wow the people that are seriously arguing about this right now are pathetic. We all get annoyed when Subeta goes down, but running a website with the amount of people that it has can't be an easy task. You people that are complaining need to find LIVES to do outside of Subeta.
Otherwise -hugs to everyone working on the servers- Think about it guys, we spent a day without it, but they spent the whole day clicking on random groups of numbers to get the site working again. Stop being so ungrateful and shut up. plzandthanks.
I'm sure you understand, though, the reasoning behind that. We have two choices, and very limited programming resources to use.
We can fix of all of things things - however the entire current site is built on code written by a 14 year old, who was learning PHP. While a lot of it has been patched up over the years, it's still, at the core, PHP4 (when we're running PHP5) and extremely inefficient.
Or, we can put all of the programmers toward the rewrite, and have critical bugs only paid attention to on this site - to get the rewrite (which is written on updated, PHP5, OOP) full attention and the speed that it needs.
We have two options, and we went for the latter. Otherwise, we'd be fixing things on this site, that we'd just have to turn around and do over again, on the rewrite. While this site will still fail, go down, and be generally crippled because of the old, terrible code.
I'd like to see some of the little stuff fixed. If it's not possible to fix some of the old REs, could you create new ones?
When the Red Envelopes were around they became an RE that added an item to your inventory. Could a new Amulet and Map Piece RE be created even if the old ones can't be touched?
Leave the stealing RE dead though. I doubt many people mind that one not working.

Your idea of important probably differs quite a bit from mine--but the site has a lot of issues.
The pet zappers malfunction on a regular basis and have for ages now.
There's a glitch with growing the banana seeds in the garden so that it dies and you can't grow anything anymore.
On a regular basis, quests don't get reset and remain that way for much of the day and sometimes even the whole day.
IE users have been treated as the red-headed step children, unable to use forums or trades correctly.
Many of the random events do not work.
Item Drive was broken for ages before someone finally shut it down, causing many users to lose out when they 'won' but got no prize.
I could go on for a while here, actually...
Um seems like things are not a 100% fixed. The Chron did not reset today.. can you please fix that, for those of us who spend most of our sp on donation presents and need quests to do? ^^'

It's a free site -- yes. That fact would probably won't change. However, some of us DONATE to this site. I think it's not of much of a far-fetched idea to hope the site would run a little better with funds coming in.
The word there is donate...free choice. I donate ALOT myself. But I don't expect anything from it outside of the item I paid for. Just my opinion.

It's STILL a free site.
It's STILL fairly new and they don't have all the kinks and bugs worked out as it's growing at lightening speed.
We all KNOW this happens fairly regularly.
YES, it stinks when it goes down on the weekend, but spring is coming...you CAN do other things.
I've had to learn these lessons myself...just be glad there's still a site to come to.
