I hate to be a stickler, but I thought I would point out that the gunpowder plot failed in 1605, not 1606... Someone might want to correct that XD

Bonfire night has been wonderful here - the city puts on a huge show in the park, its great!

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

Spiderluv, I suppose it depends on your age, but I'm 43 and bonfire night is not celebrated the way it was when I was young.

Aristodragon, people would have different views on that one, but in my opinion most people celebrate the attempt to blow up Parliament.

So is he celebrated for trying to blow up Parliment or failing at blowing up Parliment?

Pink Pearl, The UK really DOES celebrate it... @@

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

It's true that the UK doesn't celebrate Guy Fawkes Day (or Bonfire Night as it is often called) so much these days but it is great to see that this website does!!! Well done staff! The petsite I previously worked on would never have done this. Well done everyone and thanks for the free gifts

I love the sparkler

In my country we don't celebrate that day, but I have heard of it. I wonder if Subeta will ever include Dutch holidays or Dutch festivities. Sinterklaas would be a nice one to add ...

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

It won't let me get the free gift...

Hmm - I already had a sparkler from a long time ago. I never saw them re-release a free gift before. It's very pretty, though. sparkles

I like these mini-holiday releases - it's awesome that Subeta acknowledges them.

Woohoo. Yay for Subeta celebrating Guy Fawkes.

Guy Fawkes right is still celebrated in my little corner of England. To be fair I guess I live in a fairly traditional little town, but still. Every year we have a big display and ticket profits go to local charities. It's a community event with a funfair and excellent fireworks. And we have the largest bonfire ever. Is bigger than most of the trees in the park, save the big oak.

Anyways, that was Sat night and was excellent as usual, and tonight I am off to a friend's house for fireworks, toffee, fudge and taffee. Mmmm.

The Bonfire is at the Holiday shop - I would guess the rest are in their respective shops. And free gifts are just that - free and a gift. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth as they say. The plushie was out last year - may have been re-released by accident before the sparkler was available.

You could have gotten both plushie and sparkler... The free gift is available to everyone whenever a new free gift is put out, it doesn't matter if it's days or hours apart.

This has happened before with the gold and silver skeleton keys. Its fair for those who are online, also those who did get a plushie can't double dip as far as I know and also get a sparkler....

The plushie wasn't even out for an hour. I'm not really complaining because I have two from last year...but what about the newer users who weren't on for that time window? It doesn't seem all that fair.

awww, pity I so would have loved the plushie as a free gift! anyone wanna swap sparkler for the plushie? yeah - I know.. as if!</I>

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

where do these restock?

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

Guy Fawkes Night is actually pretty much forgotten in the UK - unless you know the History of course, then for most of the common idiots here, it's just an excuse to set off explosives for a week rather than the day and burn a big pile of wood. =] -dork'd-
