xD;' -nods a bit- Thanks, but it's true. I have a traditional ninja character for roleplays, and most people who do roleplay ninja have all these insane radioactive glowy hands of doom, and all he has are his swords and other weapons.. And his brother. x; ..... And yeah, that entire thing got me thinking. If a Kyubi Kitsune is a nine tailed fox, then can you have a Kyubi Monkey or whatever?

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

Oh and Earthen you made me totally laugh! P.S. My hubby says a real Ninja is one ya don't even know exists. The rest are just cheep imitations! He also says.. how good of a ninja can someone be if you can tell they are a ninja!

According to my husband who studied Japanese and Japanese lore for several years in collage and after for research for books he writes. Kyubi is a part of a title describing a specific type of Kitsune as Kitsune as mythical creatures can have from 1 to 9 tails. The more tails the older, wiser and more powerful Kitsne.

Kyubi means nine tails and Kitsune means fox. So Kyubi Kitsune means nine tailed fox literally.

In Naruto they have just shortened it to the first part of the title. If you look up any info on Kyubi from Naruto you will see that he is a 9 tailed Kitsune.

I think in Naruto they call the Kitsune a kyuubi because they need something to lituary call a Ninetailed fox because nearly all the many tailed beasts have names referring to what they exactly are

Thank you..... and besides, I did some reaserch into the subject of Kyubi, and apparently that IS the name of Naruto's kitsune, of all things. ;_; -shudders- Why must they ruin all the cool things, like kitsune/kyubi and ninja? Now I can't have a ninja character without getting the entire '0NGZs! WHAT SPIRIT DOES HE GOTS LIVING INSIDE HIM?! o; WHAT VILLAGE R HE FROM?' and then I get all lame, since he 'Lives with his mom in the middle of a normal forest and doesn't have a headband since he.... isn't from Naruto.'.

Bah, if you don't know Naruto, keep it that way. -0 It's some show about Ninja with some sort of insane powers that let them set their own hands on fire and not burn and do insane magic-y things and..... I think one guy has a kitsune in his stomach or something. oX0'; It tries too hard to be funny and fails miserably. -shrugs a bit- And that Kitsune in that show is rump-ugly in my opinion and the size of a building, from what I saw in the episode I watched while waiting for Frisky Dingo to come on.

Kay, so let me get this straight. A kitsune is a fox, but we dont want to call it a fox, because calling a fox a fox would be "silly". Just because something is mystical doesn't mean it isn't still what it is. I don't even know what Naruto is. 0_o I just call kitsunes by that name because i've looked into ancient chinese culture and read up in art history books about the infamous "kitsune" who could transform into a beautiful women and seduce men, aswell as being a trickster and even sometimes pillaging in villages. If a pig could fly, we'd call it a "flying pig". And while Kyuubi might be just as acceptable, it isn't the same in my book. I'm sticking to my own research and calling it by it's ancient, proper term. =3

Who said there were NINE tails on those Kitsune furs? eyeroll Be happy and stop arguing folks, if you don't like them, then just don't buy them.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Templar

Not everyone who uses the term 'Kitsune' is a 'Narutard'. -0 I find that show dull and boring, yet I still use the term. Perhaps some people heard it from folk tales. I have a book of folk stories from around the world that I always read as a child, and in the Japanese stories- taken directly from old childhood literature from Japan- they where KITSUNE. Nine tailed foxes one and all where called Kitsune. You do not have to be a Narutard to use the term. In many older Japanese films and legends, they where Kitsune.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Cowboy_497
User Avatar

Hmm. True, according to that wiki. Still, Kyubi (literally nine-tails) is a more proper term for it, despite how hard the Waps and Narutards may vandalize Wiki's Kyubi article. Although Kitsune can be used, Kyubi is a more proper and specific term. Kitsune is MUCH more often used for common foxes these days. A westerner/English-speaker using the the generic term to refer to mythical creatures that actually have a name is... well, I dunno. Silly.

You guys are so funny. Does everything have to be 'fit' to your expectations, users? I think the kitsune fur is a lovely item, as I saw the preview image. The spell tag and the bells are probably there to tie the tails together. Besides, you can only fit so much room into the avatar spot- It would look odd with random bells hanging everywhere in such a restricted space.

My only critique is that perhaps the face should have been included in the package, like.. a foxy face. I know kitsunes could turn into women (As they were primarily female) but it woulda been a neat feature ^^ Either way, I like them. I'm just waiting for the price to skyrocket, though

ZOMG. Kyubi transformation items... I was going to draw that as a staff artist application! Still, it's great to see them available. Can't have enough ears and tails on what is essentially still a virtual petsite. However... I am FRUSTRATED at the contsant usage of the term 'kitsune' to refer to kyubi (or kyuubi, however you wanna spell it)! Kyubi are mythical ninetailed foxes (kyu- meaning nine, as I've heard). Kitsune is just a term for a mundane fox. Not that I'm the authority on Japanese or something, cause I'm not, but please do some reasearch before you make it public. What's the point of using a Japanese word in an English name if it's not even the correct one?

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

Well when I think Kitsune I think of a Japanese mythical 9 tailed fox creature. Kitsune literally translates into fox.

You may not be able to see 9 tails there but they are so fluffy and so many that I can see them there in the back in my mind. I know they are there.

Thanks. -nods a bit- Your work is nice, though. xD'; I guess people just get a vision of what something will look like in their heads and don't tend to be too. happy when it doesn't turn out the way they picture it too, but you have made a lot of people happy with these, I bet. I'm just of of the few who dislike it, but, so long as it makes a few people happy... Humn.. -sets to thinking.. Maybe if I add it to my Wolf costume avatar, I might get a little closer to the look I want. -slinks off to think and ponder and plot like the Brain-

Well, Fake kumos fur always looked like a scarf to me. -shrugs a bit- And you turn it into a fur coat, but, I doubt this argument is going to go anywhere. I will continue to draw and think of kitsune as they appear in traditional Japanese literature and artwork- and collect the items for treasure chests, at least. As an item on it's own, they are lovely, but not as a wearable, in my opinion.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

Just to let everyone know when I made the kitsune furs, is that the item represents a little charm you touch that "gives" your ears and a tail. You don't wear the charm, if that makes any sense. And offically, those are little bells, LOL
