Subeta related? Or count?

Who does that? Sits around and counts letters in the words and then applies it to trivia? I barely have enough time since school started to click back on a page I might have opened 5 hours ago. Can I have some of your free time?=P

Debilee's comment was obviously sarcasm, no serious tone in it whatsoever, but Flit your joke had to hint of sarcasm, and did not seem intended as a sarcastic joke as debilee's comment so obviously was.

Flit - I'm not so sure your point is completely applicable, in this case, but okay. I guess, in the end you can choose to take Debi's statement personally or not. Make the choice. Maybe she was poking fun at a select few and trying to make the rest of us laugh. If that is the case, then I am currently choosing to be in the latter group. I am laughing. Good joke. Funny, funny Debi! Ha ha! No numbers for a few days, ok?

I hate number sequence things. It's not my favorite in math. How about word problems or something else. I should submit a question on mods. Those are easy if you know time.

Seriously, not all the trivias should be extremely easy, they'd get pretty boring very fast. It seems to me like the majority of complainers are those who aren't able to get them right. Seriously it's a game, chill out already.

I wanted to add that I actually PREFER the numbers trivia to the trivias where an items definition has been twisted and pretzled so many times you have to take a wild leap and guess to figure it out. But, even then, that's the fun of trivia, right ?

The number ones are frustrating and tricky, but that only motivates me even more. Sure, I hate it when I can't figure it out, but I have found the answer to this one and now think its brilliant. Got me thinking....

I say the number trivias should stay and be mixed in with the other styles.

I think people are getting upset over nothing. The comment was funny and sent a message at the the same time... basically it means quit b******g about the trivia. Play it or don't play it, but don't complain if it's too hard. It's there for fun, so take it for what it is.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

It was a joke. A joke that proves a point, however. You see how easily a joke can be presented poorly and misconstrued, because it's in bad taste. Because it's insulting towards those it's about, whether intentionally or not. If DebiLee's comment was a joke, then it was in bad taste and a lot of users were rightly offended. Just because something's not meant seriously doesn't mean it's okay to say it.

Flit, I seriously hope you were kidding. If I were on the staff I would be tremendously offended that you even hinted at the possibility that they were favoring certain players. And, as Ariel said - these questions really don't seem to be the kind that require a special skill. I personally think they can be little more difficult to find (mostly because it is sometimes easier to recall where you saw a word/sentence/description than where you saw a number), but I don't think these questions are favorable towards particular players or their talents.

I still fail to see how anyone would be particularly better at finding random numbers (not math) than someone else. The word trivias do put people who don't speak english as a first language (or just not very well) at a disadvantage, how would these put anyone at a better one?

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

The word trivias are easy, the number ones are hard. It's not difficult to see why people like one kind better

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Snot
User Avatar

I can't believe so many people complain about these. It's better than a vaguely worded trivia. At least we KNOW the answer is right when we find it. How many times do people have to say that these have nothing to do with math before other people stop complaining about being bad at math? o_O

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Ariel

I don't see how any one would have an advantage when it comes to answering trivias like this.

gee, debilee .. i am sooooooooo glad you decided to do another number-related trivia! i was afraid you'd choose to do somethign silly, and boring, like those dumb word trivias. after all, those are soooo hard .. and these number-related ones are, like, easy-peasy!!

runs sarcasm-check program before hitting post comment button

yup ... we're good.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

I wouldn't say practically the same as word trivias. If the trivia involves marmosets, you're more likely to remember where you saw a marmoset than any number.

: Number trivias are not about math or algebra, they are about finding the sequence somewhere on subeta, practically the same thing as word trivias

Actually, this has become a number sequence boot camp. DebiLee's creating a group of number trivia savants, even if she doesn't mean to. (okay, last one stumped me, but it stumped MOST people and I don't feel bad for missing it).

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Jenflower

I usually like the number ones. They can be tough to find (which I like), but I do end up finding a lot of them. I don't think, however, that they should be released so close to each other. I cringe at the thought of seeing sequence trivia questions (with letters or numbers) over and over again. DebiLee obviously knew people weren't happy with them and thought it was funny to throw another one out there for us. Now that she's made her point, however, I really hope she'll consider spacing them out a little more. The trivia game should be about keeping it fun, varied, interesting, challenging, etc. At least that is what I expect from it.
