A new trivia question has been added!

Smuky, that's just kinda how the game is. Debi said only about 100 people won.
I answered this one, but I'm iffy about it. Oh well, I'm not crazy about this minion anyway. ![]()
a) there's a cheat site?? b) wonder when this one's gonna close c) debi, you're doing an amazing job.
The reason so many people answered in such a short time was probably because they thought the answer was some sort of a giveaway and put 3 without looking for it, it's obvious since there are not many in trades and they currently sell for only 6 mil. It's not fair for the people who were offline for a few hours to pay such a large sum because of cheaters ;_;
Debi, right now this is really the only place we're able to make these suggestions seeing as the Suggestions and Ideas forum currently doesn't work. At least if we mention our ideas here and you like one of them you yourself can mention it to a programmer if you think it's a good suggestion that would improve the way the trivia is run.
I think the trivia is run just fine now. Pulling it completely would make it so even the honest people lose out, and that's just letting cheaters ruin it for the rest of us. Changing the prize to something crappy STILL ruins it for the honest people, some of us DO play for the item and if the uber cool item that was put up there changed to something stupid like a red ball I would be very disappointed- maybe even cry if it was a hard trivia that I was so proud for figuring out. I very much prefer the way Debbie does it now. It's logical.
I guessed obscurely. I remembered that there was an earlier trivia that was similar to it. I looked back through the previous answers and found the one I was looking for. The answer that time was also 'SC'. I just took a deep breath and submitted that answer in hopes that it was right.
I think I found this one, I'm not sure though.
The last one was changed after over 1500 users had already answered, whether it was up briefly or not. Also, the bottom of the page on the cheat site tells you exactly which other users are viewing the topic; no one but the person who posted it had had a chance to see it at the time.
While some, or even all, of these suggestions and ideas might well have merit, here isn't really the place to discuss them, you could always post them in suggestions, as I am not a programmer, and so am unable to change nothing. I have to work within the already extant framework, in which there cannot be random or mystery prizes, and the prize cannot be changed.
Aah, thanks, diana. I should have gotten that one slaps self for not getting the bobber
I guessed. X) SC is the slot machine coins. The last one was silver coin.
Aww, I would have gotten the Pig one correct, but didn't get a chance to answer it.
And how was SC the answer for the one before that?
I remembered that was in the editorial about 5 seconds after I answered with 3.....no wild haggis for me...sigh
lila ... editorial 7 says 2+1=pig. remember, subeta related!
thanx painting ... and i love your icon .. starry night is my daughter's fave painting!!
I don't get how 3 is incorrect for the last one?
I gave it my best guess, but I'm worried about the format X(
betapags, I think Debi normally changes it once 1000 to 1500 people have answered. But is she sees that people are cheating she changes it immediately.
any idea how many people have to answer before they close it? i think i got it right, and it's driving me crazy!
this one is tricky, man. X (
Thats a good idea too Shatzy !
I dont get how the last one was 213....
OMG. I found the answer, and then I spelt it wrong, and I didnt realize until after. I really wanted the baby cthulhu too. dies
just adding to whats been said --- it may even be beneficial if, when a trivia is answered correctly, the user gets to select from 3 mystery boxes or something with random (or particular) prizes behind each. that way, even if there is cheating, the individual user still has to choose a prize. i dunno... just thinking out loud.
The Trivia is fun, and appreciated. but, its also changed to where its not even worth the blood pressure meds anymore .. LOL. I mean, yeah, by the time the trivia is changed its because pl ALREADY cheated, and they ... get the prize still. while we were off hunting. I agree .. .more randoms for prizes and keep a trivia event with JUNK prizes for those who play just for the challenge of playing.
No easy answers, are there? But the point that the cheaters are the main (not all, but main) ones winning is a good one. Debi mentioned the possibility of pulling the trivia game entirely not long ago...I'd almost rather have it entirely random events than having the cheats keep winning. (Note I said almost!
)
Or, I also like what Moonsyne suggested. If a trivia has to be pulled because of cheating than nobody should get the prize.
DJ, I meant to change the prize so that when it ends everybody gets a Red Ball (or whatever), not just the people who haven't answered yet. That way if they start getting crap for prizes maybe they'll stop cheating so the prizes will go back to good ones.
I would think that changing the prize would just make the people who haven't answered yet get mad because they still didn't get a prize.. so it's kind of like the same thing happening.
There's all this talk of a site-wide overhaul and new coding and everything, are the possibly able to also add a way for you to change the trivia prize? I don't know anything about coding but I would assume that that wouldn't be any harder to do than any of the other coding for the site. And even if they can't or won't add that option I still feel that the cheating needs to be dealt with in a different way. The only people who are losing out are the honest people. The cheaters see the answer and are able to submit it before you notice and change the trivia, the people who are out searching for it miss out. Yeah, changing it may prevent a few cheaters fom winning, but it prevents a huge amount of honest people from being able to even answer. And, as I mentioned in my previous post, a new trivia just means one more great prize for them to win and cash in on, so by changing the trivia so quickly
Hmmm... One of my posts evidently went missing... Anyway, now, wait, the original person who posts an answer did figure it out on his/her own; it's changed to prevent hundreds of other people answering it as well.
The thing is, unless it's a holiday, Trivias are Subeta related, in regards to DJ's (who wasn't the only one to have submitted that one), Trivia.
The Trivia doesn't have a change prize option.
There needs to be a new way to deal with the cheating. If you find that the answer is posted somewhere I think you should leave the question up but change the prize to something crappy, like a Red Ball or something. The fact of the matter is, even if you change the question you are only giving them a shot at another valuable prize. So basically every time you change the trivia they are getting yet another valuable item for them to cash in on. The cheating isn't going to stop until they stop getting 'rewarded' (good prizes).
I totally agree Synbar! I would almost rather they were gone and something new was done. It stinks that those who cheat are the first how ever many answers before it gets pulled .. THEY .. get it right, and get a prize, and WE get it pulled from us because we are still hunting, the proper way. Bites!
I'd say make the trivia harder. People who really work hard, like on the math ones, seem to be less likely to cheat. It is the easy ones that everyone gets that seem to be spread around. Look how many people won the hard Debbie suggested trivia. It wasn't shared by cheaters because the cheaters were too lazy to figure it out. I think that NOBODY should get the prize if a trivia is shut down due to cheating. Enough of my opinions....
Sorry, it was a reference to a parody of the Virginia... Oh, never mind, I'll just go edit it out. XD
I'm tired of missing trivias because folks are cheating, and the trivia gets pulled before I even get to read it. I may not have the least chance, but I DON'T cheat. Maybe it's time to end the Trivias and find some other contest for the rare item prizes.
I don't understand it... more so, I don't understand why those who found the answer would help those who are too lazy to look around the site a bit. EAT MONKEY POO!!
on another note... I'm a touch worried about format. But I'm more worried about a trivia change again to not put in the most commonly known name. crosses fingers
As to the last trivia (not this current one), it could be found in the editorial:
Issue 7 Zack asked: What is 2 + 1?
Pig
(Answered by Quetzal)
I've given up even trying to answer these. Too many recent trivias have had no logical connection between the question and answer. It's totally stupid and completely unfair.
I'm sorry.... but I think that last one was rather cruel to those of us who don't cheat.
And those who ARE cheating..... GROW UP
Wait.... Wasn't it Virginia who asked about Santa Claus, huntersglencurlz? o_0 I knew I'd seen that answer for 2+1 somewhere, but I overthought it and went with the simple answer of 3. headdesk Hope I got this one.
The little girl in the letter to santa story is Virginia .. I also thought the comment was pointed to a specific player. But, who knows ... anywho, its .. Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Clause. and still, no idea on this one .. It has me stumped because of one silly word ..LOL.
Eep!
It ate half of my post!
That last part was in reference to the cheaters who ruin everything.
I thought 1 + 2 = FISH. XP
[ I believe all that I've wanted to say as already been said, so I won't bother to repeat it. shakes fist instead
Check one of the editorials. Not sure which one..as I wasn't on in time to answer. But I've seen it many times so it would have been very easy for me. I believe I found the answer to the current trivia. Very tricky..if so.
I answered it but I'm too not sure about it and I'm quite tired but at least I gave it a try
.
minno150-- there is nothing 'logical' about performing preset actions based on certain stimuli. thats like saying its 'logical' to drive through a green light and stop on a red light. there is nothing 'wrong' with how the current trivia is being done. my only suggestion was just an idea based on previous conversation... not trying to knock anyone but offer something positive. its ridiculous that people have to justify their intentions here.
