Attention Traders!

We'd like to remind all of our members to be careful when using the Trades. Here are a few helpful tips to make sure you don't accidentally fall victim to a trick or innocent mistake:

1. Make sure the offer isn't missing a zero. If you are asking for 1,000,000 sP on an item, check to ensure that you aren't being offered 100,000 sP instead.
2. Check to make sure that the sP amount has been typed into the actual sP box and not the Message box.
3. If you are trading your item for other items, double-check the value of the items in the offer. It's not always safe to take the other user's word on the value; just because someone tells you that their Pink Bobber (for example) is rare and valuable doesn't mean it's true!

If you feel that someone has intentionally scammed you, be sure to report the user to an appropriate member of staff.

Thank you, and may you have a happy and profitable trade experience! :)

I wish they would allow commas so people wouldn't make mistakes. ^^;;

Thank-you staff for those very educational words. ^^*

That is an excellent idea, ShinobiiShadow - I'm trying to buy an Angelic Potion, and at least three people have been gone for over a month.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

I STRONGLY suggest we have a trade RESET. Since subeta was confusingly relocated to SubetaX, we have lost a lot of members, and just surfing through the trades I've seen a heck of a lot of users who have been inactive for over a month. Just a suggestion, but in my oppinion it would make the trades nice and fresh once more and they'd be able to function more freely without needing to check the activity of every single user who has trades up. THANKS :3

OH MY GOSH! I don't know when it happened, but the text for Message and sP amount on an offer I just got are HUUUGE! It's now EASY to spot a missing 0, whether by mistake or intentional! Kudos! Awesome idea! XD

-nods- That happened to me in the auctions as well. I won the lot for... a Bloodred Keith birthday cake.... thing, it had my name on it when the lot closed as the winning bidder, but when I checked back, it said that someone else had offered after me, and after I won. Glad you're doing something about the trades, though.

Used the trades after your note here ... glad you finally enlarged the offer amount's font size. ^^ Makes it easier for those of us with pitiful eyesight.

Heh, I always end up trading items that are UB one week, the next week they're like 2k. But, it happens, I guess.

Someone tried the comment scam on me yesterday. I didn't know it was a common scam and thought a new person just didn't know how things worked. I'd have reported them if I had known.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

Egad, is this happening a lot or is it just a random reminder?

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

Now how about changing it so that people can't bid AFTER the auction has closed :K My friend and I were watching an item, it closed, then he was beaten - very uncool.

Oh nice! They changed it so that the font of the sp section is a much larger size than the message box. Scared me a moment ago, the money practically yelled at me xD This will definitely make it easier to avoid scams

I fell for the scam earlier in the week.. Didn't think to report it to be honest, as it was really my own fault.. small sighs Ah well.. let's hope no one else falls for this mess again .. thanks so much for posting about this! We appreciate the concern.

nods It's great that someone took the time to remind the newer users... I know I've had people placing junk bids on some of my stuff... When I called them on it, they just laughed and said it was just a joke, but if I hadn't been paying attention? Gah, people sometimes...

It really saddens me that people would stoop so low on this site, especially when 95% of the people I've interacted with have been kind and generous. It's a shame that you HAD to post it but I'm glad you did, that way these scammers have less of a chance to get away with it.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

Also implimenting a pin would be a good idea so you don't rush through accepting trades.

Wise words staff. bows Many traders are honorable and they are true to their word, but sadly it's not universal and it only takes one bad trader to ruin the whole experience. Also it should be noted that you should always take your time when receiving bids. Never rush, and don't let the bidders pressure you either. Make absolutely sure that you're getting what you're expecting to get.

I find it amusing that the link to /help/index.php is a subetan redirect... :p

(That said, +1 to everything said in the post. I've seen Greasemonkey scripts for other sites that let you type in a number amount with commas and deletes the commas when you click away, which is a useful trick even without Greasemonkey.)
