So...we needed a new email address...that wasn't shared by family...I used a cousins...because...well I don't know but I'm glad this happened because now I can switch back again...to my own email...why did I sign up w/ hers again?

it just made me nervous - i mean who else would be using my email - after all, there should only be one account per person anyway, right? so this freaked me out a bit ...

Okay, two things: I did that thing where I changed my email and it was fine then. But now when I tried to do a Pete's quest, it seemed to log me out and I can't remember my word so I asked that it be sent to me, which hasn't happened yet. Out of frustration, I go to look at the preferences thing, thinking maybe the new email didn't take but it's a blank screen. And as you may have surmised, I'm not logged out--just when I try to do Pete's quests--so I'm supposed to follow to the letter instructions given in an email which has not been sent into order to get my word to a site I'm currently logged into.

On a semi-related note... What is with the log in? I don't stay logged in if I try to manually enter a subeta URL, (I was trying to get to my prefs that way,) and I'm always logged out whenever I'm idle for too long or log off. Why was it changed and, is there a way we can set it so we stay logged in if we choose to?

o_O Well isn't this an unforescene pain in the arse? Welp, no one uses my email except me. Everyone in my family has their own and I'm the only subetian in the lot so I have no need to worry.

I am the only person who uses my email address. So I just changed the numbers back to my email address that was already there.

Enders or whoever the person is worded the post odd. I thought I was going to have to get a new email address.

And yes, I know there are free email address out there. I don't need 2 email addresses! ^^;;

By the way. I think the e-mail addresses just got reset to random numbers and you should re-enter your same one. I think they fixed it to only allow one account per address though...well that's what I make of this announcement.

So, if I understand this correctly, if we re-enter our email address and don't get an error, no worries.
If we do get an error, then maybe someone is using our email address in which case it would be urgent to enter a different one (either another one we already have or create a new one).
Is that right?

I'm Sorry But this is so confusing, yes I get it now but I am not allowed to have another Email address, and I currently have a brother also on Subeta with the same Family Email. So what am I suppose to do make one up? Or make a different email and disobey my folks?

The announcement really does read as if the only change is that you're no longer allowed to have a shared email -- it's entirely understandable for people not to realize that they have to change it back if they had a legitimate email already. This isn't a matter of users being stupid or lacking reading comprehension skills.

Also, April Fool's Day is generally not a good time to make serious changes or announcements. Emergency ones, okay, if you have to, but actual policy changes that you get a chance to plan...?

Not a very clear news post x-x. I checked these comments out of boredom, and it's lucky I did, because since I do not have a shared email account, i was not going to change my saved email address.

I'm glad I read the comments here; otherwise I would not have even gone to my preferences. I assumed the e-mail I'd originally used, which was never shared with anyone else, was still there and fine. If you want us to replace the weird numbers that are where our e-mail addresses should be, you should say that.

As Ender says, EVERYONE has to go and put in a totally unique email address in place of the numbers. If it is not unique, it will not be accepted.

Except he says "change your email adress" not "change the random numbers that have replaced your email adress back to"

just to make it easier for you guys, why doesn't a staff member edit the news post and put what everyone's asking xD example, "do we have to change it if it's shared?" "No. You just need to put it back the way it was, and if it WAS shared, please change it "

How can they use it if they don't know your password.

It was only hard to understand because the original post didn't mention the numbers.. so I thought people who had shared emails had to worry.. but then I noticed it said everyone, and then there were numbers.. so I thought it mean everyone had to change it. But then you guys explained it all..

Or if you mean email, you could always use a seperate email address for subeta. They're pretty easy to make..
