I'd love to be a writer for subeta but I've only been here six months
What kind of 'references' would one need? I've never had a writing job before but I got an 'A' in my A Level English Language and Literature.
Writing was my second career choice but I'm in university studying pre-med, at the moment.
I know all the correct ways of using grammar; particularly in dialogue.
I'm currently writing a children's story called 'The unlucky penny' and hope to get it published, one day.
I think that being 'too wordy' is frowned upon in the sense of overly elaborate text such as in the typical /wolf poleplayer' e.g 'His orbs glistened with magnifcent malevolence as he surveyed his supine prey...'
Eveyone that's written has got to be undersandable by the average player and not be too vague.
I would've loved to apply, since I meet most of the requirements listed, addicted to writing and Subeta, but I'm not old enough. Bah.
Though, plots being written on a more frequent basis would make the site much more interesting. So, good luck in January when the lucky ones get chosen.
I would simply adore to apply, but my account is not nearly old enough, yay!
I want to ;-; but I'm too young, in real age and subeta account age, sadly, I'm quite good with grammer and spelling, plus I'm addicted to subeta, but best of luck to all who apply ![]()
Awwww.........I really wanted to join,but I'm only 10! I love writing.......
Tategami makes a good point. "Wordy" does strike me as a surprising choice of problems to single out of many options, but since it does refer to saying a lot more than needed, I don't think it would speak well for one's education. ![]()
And regarding my own education, I don't think I'd have time even if my account were old enough, but I do wish I knew more about past plots. grin I've checked out the editorials, but I should tackle the news soon.
Good luck to all those who apply. I'd apply, but I have way too much going on this year to have the spare time. =/
I'd also like to know where we should put the writing examples. Putting both examples into the application box along with the rest of the application is going to make it cluttered, isn't it?

That's another thing. Why is being "wordy" a bad thing? Being wordy shows my education.
Good luck to everyone who applies. ![]()
I meet all the requirements(well, except the 'reference' one, which I don't understand), but I wont be applying. I hate, hate, hate writing. ;3 Not something I'd want to do as a volunteer.
But like I said, good luck to the rest of you. ^^
Very good - I'd been hoping for something like this on subeta for awhile. The plots have been a little bit...er, shy on the details. Writers would be a very good thing for both the site and future plots.
I would apply myself, but I'm confused on the references thing myself. RL references are not gonna happen, I can tell you that now, (especially for a VOLUNTEER position on an internet site.) And aside from a few 'net friends, there is very little I can offer in that department.
Perhaps you could better explain what the reference requirements are?
Man I haven't been here long enough and I'm not old enough! That stinks, people say I'm good at writing too...
Oh well, guess I have to wait.
Would you believe it?!? Everything's fine except I'm six months too young
I'm more than capable on my Subeta time (I've been on here for over two years!) but, ah well.
Ugh, I think I messed my application up already. I thought for references it meant a way so I can give my actual writing, not another person.
Do I have to add the writing itself into the application box? That just seems messy... I could easily just e-mail my writing.
I don't understand the references now... Please explain?
That's another thing. Why is being "wordy" a bad thing? Being wordy shows my education.
I would apply... 'cause writing's so much fun...
But then again, I'm not old enough xD; And not ready to put in that amount of work/dedication. G'luck to those who try though x3
aww i wanted to apply but i'm not 16=[ & i don't have that much time, good luck to those who apply though.
Oh wow.
I think I might apply. I think I just might.
Hmmmm... 5 more months untill my account's old enough to apply, and I don't have any references...
Guess I'll spend these 5 months trying to get them (I need them anyway to apply for an RL job, so I might as well), and writing up some more stuff.
I hope I don't fall under the 'wordy' category... I tend to put a lot of description in my work. IMO, I don't put to much, just enough to give a vivid mental picture... but, of course, in other peoples' opinions, that might be different.
I'm also not the /best/ speller ever... but I don't think I'm /too/ bad. Worth a shot anyway. In 5 months, of course.
Nooo, I'm 4 months and a week short!! Sobs Look at how fantastic my HTML (well, erm, stylesheets) skillzorz are, LOOK:

(There's no rule against posting your website on here, is there? I mean, I'm not posting the site where I write porn... Cough)
Kuchiki, The age restriction is in place for several reasons.
Kazii, The account age restriction has to do with your knowledge of past events and plots, because writers will obviously be handing that.
Kalliste, The programming for the new position isn't in place yet, so no one will be hired until January.
Nightflame, they don't need to be someone you know personally, just someone who can vouch for your work/dedication/availability who isn't a friend or family.
Nataku, just as long as you focus on the story, not the details, it should turn out just fine.
The site could definitely use some grammar/spelling cleaning.
Good luck to everyone who applies!
DX D'aw. A couple months away from a staff job I could actually do.
Bwahaha, finally there will be a staff member (members?) devoted to plots and history and all the good juicy info about Subeta! I love it!
And I simply must apply for this, even if my attempts might fall uner the "wordy" category and be laughed off as a child's musing.
I'm curious about what kind of references they want, too. I don't write for a living. Getting real references for that would be a bit hard :p
Like most people said, I'd try, but I'm not sixteen. XP Ah well.
And I really don't see anything wrong with giving them your SN.
We all know that the staff are trustworthy people. At least from what I've seen.
Good luck to anyone who's applying, though! ^^
Oh hoorah it at my post becuase I used triangular brackets to make a smilie.
.
Oh wait. I'm nine months! :00
Still have that age problem though.
Shoot.
Account age and my age holds me back. DX
Good point, Quetzal. I was thinking IRL. silly me ![]()
Perhaps they want references of former website staff/friends? I don't think they should be calling anyone up IRL; if they do, I wouldn't bother applying ![]()
What does HTML have to do with being a plus?
Arghhhh. I love Subeta and love writing and would LOVE to apply for this, but I've only been on the site for a month. Even if the positions do remain open forever, it's going to take much too long for me to be able to apply.
sigh wish I thought I was good enough to do that job...
Oh, now this is interesting news indeed...! I should figure out what to send in. ::ponders::

; border: 1px solid ; font-family: georgia; font-size: 10;">I find it very odd you need references for a VOLUNTEER position.
Nightflame - I don't. Some folks applied at another site I was a writer on and within a week they would quit due to some crappy reason. I understand the basis behind references and account age restriction. Too bad I have about four months to go on subeta to even attempt a writer's position. Ah well. C'est la vie.
~Kai
Oh, I've wanted something like this ever since I got myself well and truly addicted to subeta, but I'm four months too young. Will this be something like staff artist, where there isn't necessarily a limit to how many positions can be filled? I dearly want to put my grammar skills/skillz/complete neurotic-ness to use...
So perhaps when my account is old enough...?
Too bad for the account age restriction. All well. ;D
I find it very odd you need references for a VOLUNTEER position.
I hope it's okay I edit... I tried something after I submitted my application, messed it up and edited it again. I hope that doesn't go against me. ^^;
I fit all those..except for age...![]()
Good luck all! I look forward to wicked stories about our characters. ![]()
....let me add that I normally have ample time to write, but since my family's in town for the holidays, and I have been drafted to be tour guide, I don't have much until they go home!
Wow. I've been waiting for some sort of writing thing to happen for an insanely long time. ![]()
I think the account age thing has to do with how devoted you are to the site--you don't want people who are just going to leave after a sort time.
ooooo...now I'm going to have to transfer my short stories out of my notebook! Is there a time constraint, 'cause I know I won't have much time to sit and type out everything until after Christmas!
The age of account restriction is frustrating, and I'm not sure I understand it. Obviously older users will know more about previous plots on the site, but having read all the editorials and news archives while hunting down assorted trivia clues, it seems easy enough to catch up. Still, what a fun position for whoever gets it! I hope this results in a general site spelling/grammar cleanup, too.
What a fantastic opportunity. Thank you for making this possible for members to join the great staff here ^^
Writing examples are just that, just try to keep them near the limit expressed in the application. Any form of writing (excluding roleplays) counts as an example. We will have you write a prompt to test you if we like your examples.
Too Bad I am only 15 and way new to subeta.
cries in anguish
And I love to write!
