I've said multiple times that we are looking into alternate methods of accepting credit/debit cards (even in the news post).
You could go to your local bank and have your money exchanged to USD. that might be easier for the staff and you can get a money order there too XD
How do users from the UK convert money to US dollars via cheque/money order? Can we send in cheques in sterling?
Keith, considering that many can not send you checks or money orders, why don't you try finding a bandaid fix for the mean time and find some other method of getting electronic donations? Have you looked in to any of the suggestions made?
PayPal let you use your bank account, too. It's probably the same idea... just a different company.

Paybycash is a good alternative to paypal. It allows you to interac your payment through your bank card.

I might snail mail some cash, although paypal is so much easier. Dx I can't find a GA to buy using sp, and this is really, really bad. u.u; I wanted to buy a few more september donation gifts but it doesn't look like that's going to be happening. (September's my birthmonth, and the only month I ever buy Donation Presents, aside from the occasional christmas purchase or a friend's birthday.)

Please ignore the comment on International Money Orders, I thought the article would tell the opposite that it did - how people outside the US can find money orders. I should read before I open my mouth (I just saw that it was a topic and ASSUMED incorrectly) heart
water_neko, if you live in the US...money orders are like a personal check, but you exchange the funds with a business, like a Turkey Hill or 7-11, or like someone else suggested, Wal*Mart has inexpensive ones. What happens is you go to the merchant, and pay them a small fee (generally under $1.00), in addition to the face value (how much you want it for) and they print you a check for the amount you desire, and it is safe to mail as you write (or the merchant prints) the recipient on the money order (often abbreviated as MO). Wiki has an excellent article that I didn't look at until I typed all this...also talking about international money orders, which it sounds like many people here would like to get info on (remember, David said they look at the postmark, for those who want the September present)

For those of us who aren't familiar with money orders, can someone explain to me how they work?
I know our post office does money orders, so it's so easy for me to just go to the p.o. get a security envelope and a money order all in one place 
I actually only got paypal for this site so it is a shame that that isn't working anymore. I will just have to buy my GA's with sp again.

Just a general note, but yes, money order is safer and if you're afraid of what will happen to it in the mail stick it then conceal it well.
sigh I'm happy the donations are back, but I life in germany and so I can't send money to Keith or the other two. So I just can hope that the Gold Medals in the Trades will go slower in price.

I'm going to say it agian - The paypal problems AREN'T user side, they are dealing with PAYPAL not allowing SUBETA to process funds.
They have LIMITED our account, meaning that we can longer take payments.
We are working on this (with lawyers) to stop paypal from freezing our account, like they have THOUSANDS of other people for NO REASON.
As ironic as it may sound, Mail is actually faster for me since it takes a week or so for my paypal payments to clear. Frankly, I'm just thankful that the donation page is back up. I think our bank has free money orders. I usually keep this fact under wraps since I work for the postal service. I mean free is a far cry from 90 cent postal money orders. I must prepare my order tonight and send it out first thing tomorrow. My GA expires sigh tomorrow... (I think)
They didn't say they don't want to keep paypal, Paypal is just being a pain. But they brought back the donation page so people are able to send in money. Paypal is still being worked on. They could have kept the page down until paypal was fixed, but fortunately didn't.
It will still be better for those who can only use paypal as well.. at least GA medals and the donation presents will be coming into the trading post again. ^^
About time it came back, but one little flaw.
People in other countries would wait months for something they want as fast as possible, so mailing the money is not an option.
Many people don't have problems with paypal, so why not keep the paypal for those who have no problems, while working out how to use credit cards? Makes more logical sense than this, as its making everything from the donation gifts to the gold account american only site bonuses.
And what's with the people in foreign countries...?

:X I'd try ordering all I want via snail mail, but Patty [my mom] alerady used the bills I gave her. [I have to give bills so I can use the card] So...now I can only buy what I want via...whatever. Paypal I guess.
Just FYI, most Wal-Marts in the US do money orders for less than 50 cents, depending on where you live. It's cheaper than pretty much anywhere else.
It's funny how so many people have had trouble with paypal and or ebay, i've used both for several years now and have not once ever had trouble with either. Sorry to hear that's it's caused people problems.
Thanks so much for bringing the donation page back up! I completely understand about paypal, they have treated me poorly in the past as well, and I'm very wary about them having my information.

paypal has messed me over a few times before. i ONLY use it because of this site. I don't order from ebay either because they've done me wrong as well. Its too bad the service ProPay is only available for MaryKay, it works better than paypal. Have you tried Google Checkout? I've heard its tons better and has 4 unique features that are supposed to kill Paypal.
I know that Paypal has been pretty idiotic to Keith. Has he considered just buying one of those credit card machines and paying monthly for the fee to check them or whatever. I imagine it would cost him less then all the paypal fees anyway.

And Krissyfur, debit cards will work just like a credit card IF it's got the VISA or MASTERCARD log on them. Just because it's a debit card won't mean you'll need to use a PIN number, it would just be processed like a credit card but still take the money from your account like a debit card.
Yes yes, even only snail mail donations is better than the page still being down completely! It is deeply appreciated! 
For those complaining it's too slow to send it through the mail, spend the extra buck for priority, it's not going to be that much more because it's not like you're sending a chunk of gold that weighs a ton, just some paper money. Might be smart to put delivery confirmation on it also.
cheers the staff on I've had past problems w/ paypal too, they can just really screw up sometimes. crosses fingers and hopes the paypal people get it together soon
