Nice trivia. Very clever. I'm glad I did research before the old news was deleted. In reguards to the past trivia it was indeed Maleria that was brainwashing pets. I wasn't a member back then but I do recall the plot. Basically Shinwa was untouchable as long as her temple stood. Maleria set up quests and through the quests brainwashed pets. Basically Maleria became powerful enough to destroy Shinwa's temple (somehow) but the residents of Subeta managed to battle back thanks to Shinwa releasing special items. I think that is how it went anyways... Anyone know for sure?

When I first read the trivia, the first thing that came to mind was Merana! She brain washes pets! Then, I realized, that her brainwashing is CURRENT, and not really even a plot. So reading the trivia closer, I noticed that it was about a PAST event. So, I looked up some names and bingo. Found Maleria and what she did.
Hehe, almost stumped me. Good thing I don't answer things right away.

the old trivia prize item i found that gave it away for me was ... Maleria Plushie
This plushie will remind you of the days that you've had to hide your pets, and hope they dont get brainwashed!

I searched for this one and found the following on a old news release... which it says that an evil sea witch was banished by Shinwa to an unmarked island and you don't want her brainwashing your pets... so it fit the answer of the trivia...

Legend has it that a long time ago, Shinwa banished an evil sea witch to an unmarked island, to live in isolation because she was becoming far too powerful and cursing SubetaPets left and right. Recently a brave explorer found his way to this island, and had complete maps showing his entire journy. Soon after he returned to Centropolis to tell everyone what he found, he went missing.

However, his map pieces are floating around the site, and you might find one at anytime! If you decide to approach the island, I would advise caution. There may just be an evil witch, practicing her evil magic. You wouldn't want your pet to get brainwashed by her!
