I like the new tail, but why is he smirking like a video game character? I preferred it as just a dragon. Nose is a bit off too somehow. Other than that I can adapt to the rest easily enough.

Man, even if you don't like the new one, do so many people really have to be this rude? Even I will say I prefer the 'fierce' look of the older one but so many people comment on releases/revamps with a lot of negative statements with little consideration for the artist and future work. Constructive criticism is one thing. Careless insults are another.

Good work to the artist and I'm so sorry you have to deal with immature backlash that spawns from nostalgia. That's not fair to you as a creative who's just doing their job.

yeah like, what Jesus said. I remember being pretty upset over the Escalade revamp, which changed it from looking stern and standoffish to soft and friendly. Not overly fond of that general design trend.

Love the idea of a 'gentle' revamp.

I do think the quality of the art has improved, but the art itself is less dynamic. The foreleg of the previous paralix was higher up, and the expression (as many have pointed out) was fiercer (or.. more crazed, lol!).

the round and soft thing has been bothering me too for years, esp when the site was founded on an entirely different type of style and i liked it for that. sanitized disney isnt what i love about this site

As someone whi owns 21 Paralixes, and it being my fav species... yeah idk about this.

The art itself is amazing. Great use of colors, shading is excellent, line work looks solid. My impressions have nothing to do with the quality of the art, cause the artist did a great job!

My issue with most pets revamps (and a lot of new pets really) is how everythig has gotten so round and soft. I miss the old Paralix since it was allowed to be a slim, elegant dragon with pointy edges. Here everything has been rounded and made thicker, losing a lot of the delicate fiery personality of the old art. This is a trend that has been going on for a few years with most of the pets on Subeta tbh. I'm personally not a fan, not every creature needs to be full and round and softer. All of the more 'pointy' pers have been revamped to be more 'realistic'/fuller creatures (like the Montre, the Endeavour and the Cabogre!) and I just wish we could still have pets that had least 'cartoony' proportions and features and kept more of the sharp edges.

The galactic Paralax is my absolute favorite pet on site and has been for 10+ years, I'm dreading the inevitable day it will get revamped to be rounder and fuller.

I was going to put these images side by side to make for a better comparison, but you've decimated the news post code. Why the hell do I need to upload the images now and worse, have them not show up in the preview? What's the point of that?

Anyway, I do not like this. Will I get used to it? Sure but there are criticisms to be had regardless: The details are soft, fuzzy; the whole dragon in smaller when the answer given last time (I'm sure) was to make it sleeker and not to shrink it. (Also couldn't the whiskers be changed so we didn't lose so much real-estate with the canvas?) Can we talk about that back leg: why is it so chonky and why does the original have better anatomy? This leg looks like it could fit a cosplayer at a furry convention. Where's all the definition of it's original design? Why are we going the way of Barney the dinosaur and softening everything to that of a foam suit? I also agree with the criticism that it looks more like a dog than a dragon. The grin and face itself seems a bit awkward, what with the position of the face & horns. The original had that mastered better; this feels like the face is turned just a smidge too far away for the horns to look like that. I also feel the pose is half the problem. Instead of a simple side-profile shot, why not go for something more dynamic like with the hydrus or graveyard versions? Hell, Blacklight/Spectrum have the best poses overall, if a bit too toothless. I know the point is to have a generic pose while the special colors get more dynamic ones, but I feel like the BL/S poses are too basic and those could do more with a revamp than the old generic pose did.

What I like... I really don't. I'm sorry, I just don't like this right now. Give me time, as I said, I'll get used to it. In the meantime, if you're like me and cannot stand this, I've uploaded all the old basic poses to this imgur album.

Anyway, B- for this design. It's passable, it gets the job done, but the potential all over the floor and from what I feel is a lack of listening when it came to criticisms (it's barely changed from the proposal) is just... no. I can't rank this higher.

One thing I don't miss is how monochrome most of the old Paralixes looked. The old Paralixes didn't make much use of the accent colors, but these new ones do! The Cream one for example looks so much better with the blue underbelly. :)

As someone who owns one Paralix, I like the new one better because it uses the canvas much more.

The Paralix never felt like something "fierce". It's more like a take on a wise eastern dragon rather than something that will maul you, and the expression is more fitting. gj to the artist.

For obvious reasons, I cannot get more Paralix, though. Not because the art isn't great but...oh, you know.

Hmmm. I think the art quality is an upgrade but I miss the fierce slightly crazed look of the old one. Old one wanted to kill me and crunch my bones, new one wants me to curl up and sleep with me like a cat while gently chewing on my femur.

He looks fat and short....he's supposed to be an eastern dragon, and now he looks like a dog....I much prefer the feirce detailed look to the less effort rounding out of all his body features. All you did was take a streamlined dragon with character, and mash him into a needoh dog thing....put his feirce face back!

As someone who has zero attachment to the paralix or nostalgia for it, I definitely think this is a big improvement! I'm looking at them side-by-side and I really appreciate how much more the new look fills the canvas, especially. The adjusted positioning of the legs looks more natural to me and the shading is so much better. On that note, I personally like that the shading looks softer. The old shading was definitely showing its age, even if that made it look more intense.

I do miss the little 'swirly' hairs on the leg fluffs, as I thought it was nice how they matched the whiskers. Also feel like the mane should have had some more small strands -- I feel like the old one goes a little too hard with individual strands but the new one is almost a little too neat, which I think also contributes a bit to it looking softer. The messier, more detailed mane on the old paralix gave it more of a wild look.

Overall the art quality is definitely much better and I like this a lot more than the old one! There are just some small things that make me understand why people feel like the personality is so different, which always seems to be the biggest issue with revamps.

I also don't want to be whiny or ungrateful, but I prefer the look of the face of the previous art, specifically the piercing eyes and fierce teeth. Otherwise, everything else looks great. The Paralix is my favorite pet on Subeta.

I don't mean to sound ungrateful but the old version has a lot more detail and looks more...present as where the 'new' one looks a bit too dressed down. The eyes on the new one is nice though and he slightly lifted tail kind of adds something but otherwise in my view the Paralix looked fine as it was.

Not a fan, Paralix really didn't need any kind of revamp. It looks better than what was proposed a couple years ago, but it's still not one I'd have picked. I dunno, I'm just still personal to Keshi's Paralix and it's hard to adjust to a revamp when I felt hers was the definitive take.

Just want to point out that pets are worked on by various artists and some things aren't released right away! I'm no artist, but I feel like the gentle revamps take less time than a completely revamped pet. As a user, I always get excited about anything pet related (those wild pets!!!!), even small things like a gentle revamp. As an admin, I can watch the progression of art and sob over how long it'll be until a thing gets released.
