Angelic Devonti and Darkonite Revamps!

So my cache was really far behind as I had the old art until this morning. I'm sorry, but I hate it. I wouldn't have went with the angelic darkonite if this was it's art. Sometimes the simpler designs are better.

Which one of these sounds more appropriate and respectful for someone's craft that they've honed for years?

"Yeah not a fan. Will be changing my darkonite. I liked the smooth silver of the skull and underbelly and the wings almost glowed." vs "Unfortunately not my cup of tea, but good work! I understand why things needed to be updated, though I personally preferred the smooth silver skull and underbelly, plus the way the wings seemed to be glowing."

You can make a point of stating what you preferred, that's still constructive, but you really don't need to make it a big deal to say you disliked it so much that it ruined your own pet for you. Subeta's staff are not well paid, this site is a passion project more than anything, and we're very blessed to have the artists we do. The very least the users can do is show decent respect for that hard work.

@ Malachi How is saying I don't like something and not keeping disrespectful? It's the truth. The pet is 20 years old and the reasons I liked it are apparently the reasons others didn't. I gave the pet a new home to someone who does like it.

Absolutely LOVE the new darkonite!! it's always been a favorite and i like the updated devonty a lot, i dont think the color change was too dramatic

both of these look amazing! needed updates for sure, neither of those pets matched subeta's current style. i think the devonti is much cuter and the colors look a lot nicer, and i love the texturing on the darkonite. the halos look so much better, too!

I love them both!!! They're so well done ♥ I'm biased for the old devonti just because I have an angelic devonti gijinka OC directly based off the colors of the original, but honestly, not at ALL disappointed with the revamp!!

Also, why do you people who dislike the revamps have to be so unbelievably rude? "Devonti's chin looks like it got stung by a bee"? Would it kill you to maybe give actual feedback saying something constructive and not just an ugly insult? And the people who make a point of saying "I'm changing my pet, I don't like these" are not much better. You guys need to learn manners and respect for artists. Jesus.

I don't hate the darkonite revamp. It has a softer look about it... Maybe a bit too soft. And I most definitely miss the little cracks/lines on their heads. But I do love that the spikes on the face are better defined, and have a pointier look!

lets out LONG held breath Not gonna lie, this is one revamp I've been terrified of and dreading for a loooong time now (Darkonite). I'm so relieved! What a CUTIE!!! <333 I'm soooo glad you kept the colours the same, I was worried they'd be changed since grey isn't a usual colour for Angelics. And you kept the pose too!!! <333 I LOVE how shiny the halos are now oh my gosh!!! I agree that I do think the wings lost a little something in the revamp (I think it's because they don't have coloured lines any more - I understand why, I know all-black lines are standard for the modern Subeta art style now, but it did help to break it up all the lines a bit before and make them look softer and fluffier), and I did like the old expression more (something about the white eyeshine on the new one bothers me), but otherwise - perfect. Whew!

The Devonti is adorable too, so glad the poses were kept for both of these!!! I was so worried they'd be total redraw jobs, so thrilled they just received artistic updates while keeping to the same "spirit" of the original art. (or second art in the Devonti's case, but that in itself was an updated ver of the orig, so you get what I mean XP)

As an angelic Darkonite owner I will miss the lightness and softness of the wings (I feel the old version was a little more ethereal in that way) but overall do like the update and glad the pose was preserved. The halos are even more angelic!

I think these were WONDERFUL updates in that the poses are the same. There is maybe a subtle difference in the expression of the darkonite (or maybe I am reading into those piercing eyes) and slight color change for the devonti, but I love the new versions!
