🎉 Exciting update on item labels! 🎉

six years ago, many of you helped label items (yes, SIX+ years 😭), and i’m thrilled to say your work is finally paying off! overnight, while the servers take a breather, our system is populating all item data with labels from a few sources. you can check out your hard work here on the kumos labels page, which will keep filling in as the script runs.

these labels are going to be SO awesome for organizing and finding items as the number of items on-site keeps exploding (another decade of growth? yes!).

we’re not done yet, though, and still need your help! the item identifier is now on the kumos site with improved instructions and the same reward: 10,000sP per labeled item. the new instructions should make it easier to get started, and you can label items like you’d use them yourself.

the system prioritizes newer, unlabeled items, so you’ll likely spot some fresh stuff you’ve never seen before (perfect for wishlist updates 👀). thank you for helping organize 20 years of items, we'll be making use of all of this very soon 👀

This is amazing, have been really hoping for more tags and labels! Is the source of the item going to be included in the tags? Or mainly stick to theme, use, holiday (if relevant) and colour?

Well, I just gave up on tagging since it doesn't seem all that important and was too repetitive so got boring fast. Don't mind missing out on the SPs as there are more interesting things to do. Hope those still tagging are having fun doing it.

I agree with StarShadow. Couldn't give a continental about tags, revamps etc. Would like to see new Alchemy items, old games fixed etc.

I honestly don't care about the tags. I'd rather see more effort on working on some of the old games that disappeared like stargazer, sand castles, item drive, etc. I enjoyed those and would love to see revamps on them instead of random items. Also disappointed that we never got birds or bugs last spring and summer and no rag doll 2024 achievement. And if snowballs ever start it has to end before survival. I don't think the tags are as important right now. Sorry.

Is it helpful to include item type? That should be available otherwise. Also everything already in the item name (e.g. plushie, coat, aqua) probably should not into the tags, right?

What happen when you intriduce more than 5 tags actually? Because I may or may be not doing that (I'm doing that)I expected a a red text saying "no, you can't introduce more than 5 tags" as usually goes with limited stuff but I hit send tags and... not very sure about that happened after that xp.

I'm using "(color name) hint" when an item has an color accent but its not the main one, just in case anybody finds that interesting.

You need to change your password.

Kumos is going to be the only site on Subeta at some point, and the reason it makes you change your password is to upgrade the security on the hashing, which we can't do unless you change it.

i've been doing some of these and something i keep running up against is the question of whether or not it's helpful to add tags that are already in the name of the item/are already inherently part of its item data? like if i'm presented with "nightmare antlephore beanbag" is it or is it not useful for me to tag it with any of those words?

Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't when I submit tags. Not sure if something is wrong with the tags, or if there is a limit to how many we can submit in a certain amount of time or if it times out if we take too long. I don't think this is a glitch but does anyone know what might be happening.

I can't really picture how this will change things around the site but I think when it is finally released I will be really excited. My only concern at the moment is we are limited to 5 tags but I assume each item will have more than five tags when this is completed. Or at least that is what Keith's reply seems to indicate.

Will this be worked into the MM next year because that might be amazing. Either way this is so much fun I don't even care that much about the reward. :)

Can’t wait to try this out to looking for new TC items. I labeled a few items too, and will try to do more in the next few days when the server is a big more responsive (I’m hitting a lot of cloudflare errors at the moment, but I’m sure it’ll settle soon)

Yup - the idea is to add it to all areas of the site where you might search for items, or filter items (so vault, shops, inventory).

it's pretty awesome, after running through the DB for obvious trash / spam and clearing it out we had over 800,000 entries!

so don't worry if you don't 100% capture an item, or only capture your perspective - other users are looking too!

this is amazing! i've always dreamed of something like this esp. to look through wearables for facial features, arm/body mods, HA base colors, and makeup.

question, will there be a way for us to labels items in our inventory/wardrobe (or perhaps items we search up manually), or is it just not feasible?

if not, perhaps splitting it into broader categories so people can choose which area they'd like to dig into? i figure the wearables would have swift progress by everyone whose main interest is making HAs, stickers by those who collect stickers, battle items by battlers, and so forth if so but on the flip side maybe it could overload sub OTL

i sat on one item for like 5 minutes (Sticky Webs Scroll) and was like purple, scroll, battle and was about to put book before i bought it and remembered scrolls can't be read to a pet 💀 (i am ur worst case scenario aside from the trolls)

and, someone who's an actual battler can add more helpful tags on the spot than i could (ex. if it's support, defense, dark magic and where to get it etc...), so my plan if the stars align is to refresh the page until i land on something i can confidently tag

** unless this can already be done and i'm just blind

anyway!! everyone who is contributing is a genuine champ ;__; thank you so much for all your work from the admins to the users!

Love this - will it lead into being able to search our wardrobes by these labels?

Also:

I want some clarification on wearable categories. Like what's the difference between a ground, foreground, background categories? I'm always having trouble finding things like companions and things to add to my background (idk. like little decorations like lamps).

Is there consensus on what these items belong to? Would love to start labeling them as such so people (me) can find them easily in the future..
