The Fishing Expert achievement has a new tier! If you find 5 rare items while fishing, you'll receive the new Fishing Expert avatar border.
There's also a new achievement altogether for fishing underground! Fishing up anything counts toward this achievement and once you reach 100, you'll get the new Underground Fishing avatar border.

starting to sort of get the hang of it? I think "you are getting very close" actually means "you're closer than you were on the previous turn".. but not necessarily close to the perfect spot at all.. taking that into account helps me get at least somewhat nearby now.. managed to get 2 rare items since this news post was posted ( and ).. and I already had 1 from the previous tier of the achievement, so I'm up to 3/5 now \o/

Did the frequency of underground fishing change? It's been 15 minutes and it keeps telling me to wait a while.
Now I remember why I gave up on the dumb fishing game because it doesn't make any sense. How can I be very close then on the next click right next to that be nowhere near it. It's just random luck. I wish it took a little bit of skill, that would be more fun.

I've been on Subeta for 17 years and I never fished up the treasure or got any rare items, as it's impossible to know which items are rare as they all say "game prize".
I would play fishing more, if there was more transparency or if the game became easier. I get rare achievements and stuff, but my main complaint is be fair to everyone.

The grid pattern is more than weird.
Of the rares Shimmering Serpent Seal is definitely one and I think Small School of Neons was one as well.
ok still very confused I keep getting "you are getting very close" multiple times in a row and then for the last try I click a spot within the same grid square and it says "you were NOWHERE near it!" ..... ????????? is this fisherman lying to me or what :')
I'm going to be adjusting the text soon, , for what consists as rare when you get it. Right now you just have to keep an eye on the achievement increase.
(It's about to be jewish new years and I generally am away from my computer for those so I can't promise it will happen this weekend but soon!!)

I'd still like to know, which items qualify as rare among all the r160 fishing prizes... I'm stuck at 3/5 even though I since then got a few, which I would have titled rare on a "so close" landing point. I'm tired of checking the achievement page every time...

Thank you for explaining the fishing game. I never knew that you could actually see the number of the pixel and gage from there what you have to do. u_u
yes, the fishing screen is a 400x400 pixel grid. if you hover your cursor over any single pixel on it, you can see the coordinates you're about to click on at the end of the target URL (usually shows up in the bottom left/right of your browser window). every pixel is indeed a different spot; i think the grid lines are just to help you keep track of what area you were clicking in, but don't actually reflect any functional division within the map.
that means there are 160,000 fishing spots, and you get 5 guesses, and the only information you have is:
this makes it impossible to actually gauge if your guesses are getting closer or further, or which direction you should be investigating to narrow things down. there is no narrowing down. there's also no clarity in what "very close" means. am i in a 10 pixel radius of the treasure? 100 pixels? 20,000? there is not and never has been any transparency as to how this game works.
honestly, can we PLEASE get some sort of change to make fishing easier? or some kind of explanation of the ambiguous factors like "how close is close"? i've been using this site for nearly 15 years and i've only ever fished up ONE item considered rare, and i've certainly never found the treasure.
i understand achievements being rare and luck based, but i dunno, this game as a whole just feels insane and i think everyone agrees.

Just fished this up and it counted as rare? My counter went up when I checked.

5 rare items? I almost never find anything at all. Wish some achievements weren't so random that it could take years to get them. Pretty borders.
You don't need to file a ticket - the ones you've unlocked are still unlocked! It just shows all as locked sometimes. I came across the same thing when I was testing this morning. :) If you refresh or wait a bit it's fine.
Love to see older games on here getting a little attention & given an excellent excuse to play them! I've fished more today than I have in ages. ╰(´︶`)╯♡

That regular fishing achievement border is so pretty <3 (real question though, is it true that you have to be pixel perfect to find the perfect spot and not just have to find the right square in the grid?? I thought the perfect spot was one of the squares of the grid, not a specific pixel within one of those squares.. it's kind of an important distinction to know so genuine question)
I didn't adjust the fishing game times, just the underground which was every 1-3 minutes which was not how it should have been.
- There is another achievement for 'Fish up the hidden treasure!' So maybe that's what you got? Congrats anyway on the 1mill sP!
the first time I fished after this announcement I got something I've never seen before. On my first fishing attempt, I hit "the spot" and got... not a rare item.. but 1 million sP

I love fishing! I understand that it can be frustrating, but I really enjoy the game. Now if only I could fish up those remaining two items. Looking forward to unlocking the new borders!
happy for the little that can stand to play that infuriating waste of time lmao, in not subscription myself to that thing ever again. imo fishing is legitimately the worst game on the site. go try being pixel perfect on a phone. just try it. and it doesn't even tell you that! you assume each square is a spot and then have to learn from the forums years later that no, the site just doesn't bother to tell you the grid means absolutely nothing. and now it's 1-2 hours between go's which is "fixed". yikes. :\

I commented earlier, but the highest time you can get at the moment is 1.5 hours. It's random the amount you'll get each time you fish instead of being a static "always 1 hour" type thing. :)
The borders should show up on the cosmetics page now!

Like the news post says, they aren't on the list yet but will show up soon. :) I fixed it to be what it should have been. It should never have been a thing you could do 1-3 minutes. The logic of the code was broken and now works correctly. If I kept it (broken), I would've had to make the border be after catching like 10000 fish. :P I'll work on this week getting a timer on the page (no promises!).
You broke underground fishing :(. I've been fishing in the underground for years and you can fish every 3 minutes. However since the achievement came out I've managed to fish once, and now I only get: You should probably wait a little while before fishing again.
Sigh...feels like the Card Crusade issue which says: You can only play Card Crusade 5 times a day! even though I haven't been able to play since 04/6/22.
Nice! I've had the Underground Fishing on my on-site bookmarks for a long time and fish there frequently so I'm glad to have a new achievement! :)

I see that fishing has a 1 hour wait & I can set an alert. Any idea how long to wait for the underground fishing since there's no alert & it just says to wait.
