Masquerade: SOON

The Masquerade will start during the latter half of this week! The shops will close early, so I can add items, so watch for that. The news post for when the holiday starts will include information about how the Masquerade works and what you need to do for coins etc.

People are going to be impatient and upset no matter what they do. Saying "It starts in May" and letting it start at 11:59 May 31st they can point to the calendar and say "Well, it's still May." and they'd be right.

People will complain. Let them. It's what people do.

Last year it started on May 25th, so they aren't really late on it. Probably just getting everything ready. I'm really excited.

I agree with . The latter half of a seven day week DOES mean Wednesday or after, as London explained.
This statement "Latter half does mean the end of the week." is completely wrong as latter half of a seven day week does not equal end.

That being said, unless it's Lumi, Subeta doesn't generally start events on a weekend, so the week in question may be M-F, respectively. So again, this would start Weds and after, but not be the end.

Semantics aside, I won't be around for much of it and I thought it was going to be a little frustrating due to the delay, but I general don't like any of the items from this event and I have plenty of both kinds of tokens. Now, what I DO like is the interaction between friends and the rest of the players, new and old, that come together for these events. There's a lot of social engagement in these events that people look forward to that fills in the dead space that falls in between and breathes life back into the whole game.

So what if people get a little tense about the start time. They want to feel that breath of life again and to be engaged on site where you can be social if you want to, or not if you want to. No one is saying anything mean, nasty or out of control so leave them to feel how they feel.

I thought for sure it meant half way, as the real definition means "towards the end". I guess it could be seen in different ways. I wasn't angry or irritated

"Later half of the week" is technically any day Wednesday-Saturday. I was hoping it would be Friday, but considering it's Thursday night and the Item Directory hasn't moved in days I'm thinking it'll likely start Saturday. At least I hope it does because Sunday is the start of a whole new week.

Also I do need to say that if the dates in the holiday lists are just supposed to be vague guidelines as Amber has stated in this comment thread then staff needs to just say "Masq is in May" and not "Masq starts mid-May". Stop giving us date guidelines then trying to talk yourself out of a paper bag when we try to hold you to them. Don't want us to have expectations? Don't give us a reason to have them. Simple. Problem solved.

Latter half does mean the end of the week. They did say it. Perhaps some people don't know the meaning of the term "latter half" and instead assumed it was later half, or half way... but that's not the teams fault.

Latter half would've been Wednesday. If it wasn't planned for half way during the week, then why not say "It's planned for the end of the week?"
