i can abide by the bias against coke (though i personally abhor pepsi), but why not at least "cola?" especialy as coke is, as a few others have said, one of the alternate terms, whereas pepsi is not...
Dude, it's Soda! Soda I say! Everyone around here says soda! ...actually there are a few peeps who say pop and soda pop, but they're weird.
And yes, Pepsi is by far the superior soft drink.
Noo! Vote pop! XD
wat is the actual difference between pepsi and coke (cola)
and its fizzy pop all the way
I'M AN ANGEL HONESTLY, THE HORNS ARE JUST THERE TO KEEEP THE HALO UP!
cmon evry1 nos its pop
ENGLAND RULES
I live in Ohio but I call it Soda (or soder) because I am originally from NY (Da Bronx!).
FIZZY!!Well,according to me,a Brit,it's fizzy.It just sounds so bubbly
And,for the record,my favourite is Fanta ![]()
It kinda bugs me that keith took out coke intentionally its like polling over peoples favorite colors and leaving out blue or red. There are facebook groups hear at my college and the coke group is 4 times as big as the other two combined.
um...its missing the option that i personally like..."sodapopfizz"
Me drinketh orange juice. I couldn't care less wether it was sodafizzypoppingcarbonatedbeverage, I just liketh my orange juice.
I'm surprised with Keith living in the Southeast US he chose Pepsi. That's...blasphemy. All sodas in Georgia are referred to as "Coke", and then you have to specify further what you want.
"Want a Coke?"
"Sure!"
"What kind?"
"Got any Sprite?"
Serioiusly, Georgians are retarded. But I digress, ALL COLA is nasty. I dislike Coke, Pepsi, RC, Big K, etc equally.
Ha. xD
I just say Dr. Pepper. It's just that much easier than saying "soda" or "pop" or "coke". I know specifically what I want.
Now I want a Dr. Pepper. xO
Pff.... Soda, or coke... definately.
Though ironically, the only carbonated beverage I drink is root beer....... hmm...
I've noticed here in the US it definately matters where you are. Here in the south (I'm in FLorida, but I've noticed this up through South carolina or so) many people say Soda.
When I visit up north (ohio, Indiana, Michigan, etc) I tend to find ore people refer to it as pop... which gets plenty of odd looks when you walk into a restuarant and ask for soda....
Us straight-forward Brits just call them 'fizzy drinks' ![]()
it's 'pop' here in ohio, well, where i live anyways. I never here anyone say soda, except when i go to kentucky.
And I used to drink coke everyday, until it made me sick. Mountain dew is where it's at now XD
coka-cola co. makes a lot of good drinks though, I love their full throttle energy drink.
In the UK, it's usually 'fizzy', or the specific brand's name. We don't ever use 'soda' or 'pop'. D:
We here in Brazil don't call it nothing. It's just like coke, pepsi and the other... things. Bleh. I don't even know what is a carbonated something.
BUT I voted for SODAPOP. Because I think it sound pretty. =D
We call it Pop. xD I think it's part of our Pittsburghese? D: Like...gumband. XDD
I like coke more than I do pepsi. Pepsi is disgusting. D:
Er.. I just call it.. drink. I think used to say pop.
I really just think it depends on the region. I'm from California and as far as I know refer to it as soda, soft drink or the beverage name.
It's rare that I know of for anyone to say soft drink though.
If it's coke I'll usually say I want a coke though, regardless of whether or not it's pepsi or coke XD though in reference, differentiation... because I have to.
;p
Anywho, I like coke and pepsi.. partial to both personally.
:3 Where I'm from (down south) it's either Coke or Cold-Drink.
Don't much like Coke...Root Beer's the beverage for me. x3
-cough- Hand a /Pepsi/?! Coca-Cola can so beat Pepsi. Bo
It's sooo soda.
OR. CARBONATED BEVERAGE.
Yeah, we say coke in Florida, too. /:
lkjdls Drea, I say "fixen to" alllll the time. xD
Southern thing? Ohlawd.
I drink lemonade. Never call it anything else except lemonade.
My family calls it Fizzy Drink because it's fizzy and a drink so yes. That's the terminology from my family in Australia.
coke is common in the south because it was the first big company to make softdrinks. Its like saying you need a kleenex when you just need a tissue or maybe even a paper towel or sometimes people say they are going to take some tylenol when it is another type of medicine with similar effects.
Actually, now that I think about it, I think pop is just a little more common around here. I'm surprised soda is winning. Anyway, fun poll! ![]()
Around here (Pacific Northwest) it's either pop, soda, or sometimes soft drink. I hear pop and soda equally, so I'd vote pop and/or soda if it was an option. I never hear people never call it coke if they don't mean a Coca Cola. It's interesting how much it varies all in the same country. ![]()
None of the above - it's COKE! ![]()
Every one hear normally calls it a coke even if it is a pepsi it is still a coke.
OH Duh if I had read Arbor's whole post.
My Poor old tired eyes and fried brain ![]()
Arbor, I thought the age old question was which came first the chicken or the egg?
![]()
"Oh, and Keith, the age old question is actually "How much do we really know about our neighbours""
When I read keith's post, I thought it was going to be "What came first - the chicken or the egg?"
There are too many age old questions. x3
Over here we called it Soft Drink, everyone does.
Oh, and Keith, the age old question is actually "How much do we really know about our neighbours" ![]()
SODA POP. I play Poke, you see.
Eh... it actually varies here.
I call it pop.
Brother calls it soda (I think he's just trying to be difficult).
It's pretty much like that all over Britain, as far as I know.
LOL Living in Mississippi with parents from Missouri can bring alot of fun to this.
When we first moved to Mississippi. My dad went into a store and asked for some Soda. The man brought him a Box of Arm and Hammer.
Anyways I say Soda Pop or Sodie as trhat is what my folks always said. Some of my friends says POP. Some just say Coke like Drea said.
My Mom used to think it was funny when people wanted an Orange Coca Cola.
People also say soft drink and I argue that Carbonated Beverage is correct. Though I have never asked for one.
My Aunt says Sodie Water because way back in the day you know they mixed the syrup with the carbonated water.
Alot of the down home country folk also ask fer a Cold Drank and yes I meant to say Drank as that is adding the southern accent.
Lots of people ask for the drink they prefer by name. Hubby says he wants a Dew( refering to Mountain Dew)
Me I prefer water.
Well you did not ask for all this but oh well I told ya anyways.
Well I may be odd-girl-out but ewww pepsi. bleh.
That's how we roll down here, we have to do everything special like.
As I learned in boot camp, when someone told me 'Fixen' too' isn't the correct way to say, your fixen to do something xD
Yeah, Keith. no one actually drinks Coke. Ew. Thats disgusting. But its the Texan word for "Soda." Because we're backwards like that.
When my aunt from Michigan came down, she asked me for a 'pop' and I looked at her like she was a moron XD!
Nooo not coke coke, coke as in what a carbinate beverage is ![]()
X"D Drea, you beat me to it!
Hurrah for us backwards Texans. You can't live here more than a month without having the following conversation:
"Wanna coke?"
"Sure."
"Dr.pepper then?"
"Yeah."
Annnnnd..
Its carbonated water. I've had this fight with a girl from NY for seven years now. We finally agreed to just call it carbonated water, since she just wont admit that "pop" is WRONG.
Which is why I made sure to include pepsi, and not coke :
Its pop.
Coke is nasty.
Keith, you forgot 'Coke' for us Texans x3
Vote Soda!
Fizzy pop, fizzy drinks, or sodapop(cos I used to like that song XD) to me... Fizz is a fun word. Subeta needs more fizz. o.0
I think terms like soft drink and carbonated drink are too formal... =/
