Spectrum and Blacklight Donadak Revamp!

I'm really glad this is such a faithful update; the face is a little different but not majorly so, so the pet that it was has mostly been preserved. Refresh revamps like this are very appreciated, where the pet stays true to what it was originally instead of being totally changed.

also, donadaks are cute and they definitely need more love!

As an owner of two of the pets revamped the past week, I can say without a doubt that this one is WAY better than the Charlie. This one has the same face and personality, very similar depth of shading, same pose. There's a few things I'm unhappy with, the flat looking eyes, the weird shadow on the back, and the lack of colour splashes on the hip, but overall, my pet feels like they have the same character and personality. I still don't know what to do about my Charlie, it's not the same pet at all.

That being said, I'm still glad that we're finally getting some of these revamps, the art was old and out of date, and the new art is an improvement, despite the problems I have with it personally. But I'll probably be using this opportunity to support some of the other community artists to commission some art that I can be happier with. If others are unhappy with the revamps, I recommend thinking about doing the same.

Oh, I see now. Blacklight is basically a Melanistic Spectrum, is it? Wondered how the blacklight color palette was chosen. I like it.

So many revamps lately, I love that.

I can understand that someone who had a Spectrum or Blacklight Donadak before the revamp might be unhappy at the moment (happened to me, too more than once in the past with longtime Pets on my account) but from my personal perspective I can just say that I really enjoy the new look of these Donadaks.

crazy that some people cannot comprehend what a nostalgia filter is... I'm sorry, but you really can't see the improvements? Maybe you're just biased because you aren't used to the change?? Not all change is bad (!!) and in this case the change is good! 😔 This site doesn't have as many as users as before... at least try your best to appreciate the actual work and effort into improving the pet art on here.

I became a huge donadak fan after the species revamp (and actually, one of my first pets was a donadak, way back in like... 2006), and I've really fell in love with them. They're one of my favorite species now and I was REALLY looking forward to this revamp because it was definitely needed.

And I love it! Updating the eyes was great, weird that they were one of the few (or only?) spectrum/blacklight pets without heterochromia. They're brought up to the standard of their new, beautiful look and it fills my heart with rainbows. I feel like they're a bit of an underappreciated species, so I'm glad I can go to bat for them now and again lol.

I love the new look of the mouth, I think it's super cute and more in line with how a cute little critter's mouth would look. The base colors are striking and shaded beautifully.

20/10, thank you for updated all these donadaks so perfectly!

i'm not a fan of donadaks in general but I think this revamp makes them look really cute! it kept the same feeling/emotion but the updated art makes it look so much more professional and I love the heterochromia.

when people complain about the subeta artists revamping pet art, i really wonder what goes on in their minds. i mean what do you expect? a virtual pet site is going to WANT to update & adapt their art/site features and whatnot to keep things around the site fresh and consistent; pets are no exception. almost every site of subeta's type does this.

some minor details have been added, sure, but i see no difference in vibe here? just a different way the colors are laid out, the heterochromia in the eyes, paint on the claws & of course, finer lines. i'm no stranger to being nostalgic for old art, but some of these reactions are ridiculous. offering some constructive criticism if need be, using old pet artwork as your overlay & going about your day is simply all thats needed. not a snarky (pun intended) remark bringing our artists down.

Looks more hippotu, and lost its hip splash of color.. 😔 The pink center spike is too much of a focal point. How is it the critters look bigger/older yet they don't have room from the 3 crystals on theil back of their back legs? Otherwise not too bad..

These look so beautiful! I'm so glad that Subeta is homogenizing the art style- it feels so much more clean and professional. Change can be scary for some people, and that's understandable- but when the final product of that change shows a wealth of effort, I think it deserves to be celebrated. Both Dons are super sweet, and look fantastic~

Some people really come in here guns blazing to take a big shit on artists and can't even bother to give positive feedback or civil criticism along with their little fits.

Chill out. Yes, you can have a negative opinion on the revamps but when all you can do is aggressively insult the art and the person who drew it, then you're just making yourself look like a clown. I'm pretty sure the artists don't get paid nearly enough to deal with these awful tantrums.

i hope someone on staff sees this but anyway i was showing my mom a banner of subeta items i did for a giveaway in my subeta server and anyway

my mom said she's really impressed with the art on here she talked about it for like 10 minutes how the artists here are so talented and she appreciates everything you guys do even tho she doesnt play subeta it brings me a lot of joy and shes thankful

i know it's not ideal, but is it possible to use the old art as a custom overlay ? i think subeta homogenizing its art style is ultimately a good idea, but it does suck when a pet you like gets changed (rip green irion, sobs)

Why can’t you leave peoples pets alone? It’s bad enough when gorgeous items are ruined in the name of new! but ruining pets is the last straw. My goddess sub just renewed, but this will be the last time. I need to spend my time and money on games that don’t break my heart by destroying their art every third day.

really nice update! i think they look better in every way. i also really love the heterochromia, and particularly how the grey on the spectrum one was lightened. i've never really understood why having grey on a rainbow pet was a good idea, tbh... :/ so i like toning it down, at least!

Adorable!! The paint splatters on the claws is a lovely touch! I'm happy to see the two different eye colors now too!
