This year, I was able to defeat the Pumpkin Patch Goblin, which I couldn't do last year! That's one more than I ever thought I could do!

yes, because the rare drops are a) random and b) past ten wins.
I battled all four challengers with 4 pets at least 5 times and I received no rare or old Morostide items! The last battle on the tenth win I got You Won! You have defeated Wurlm 10 times!

This looks like fun. I'm fairly new to battling but I think two of my pets are strong enough to battle all but the dentist, and I'll definitely give him a try as well.
I have a question for anyone who's willing and able to help--just curious about this because I read the posts saying that two of them need to be unlocked. I've just visited my event's tab and all four are already there.
So, does that mean I might have unlocked them already last year (I don't remember seeing a challenger unlock this year) Simply, do challengers who are unlocked in previous years automatically show up as unlocked the next year.
I know I have a convoluted way of wording things, it's my brain being odd in some PTSD manner. Thanks to anyone who can help!! And Happy Morostide everyone! two of them do need to be unlocked, just doesn't remember that because it's easy and was a long time ago. Pumpkin Goblin is randomly gotten from the Pumpkin Patch, and Dentist is randomly? gotten from Trick or Treating (I'm not sure if you need to get hexed to get him).
Once those two are unlocked they will also show up in the Events tab.
yes that is how loot drops works in Subeta. There may be one or two Challengers that have a wide variety of drops like Mephysto, but not usual.
Usually for an Event Challenger nothing interesting happens after win 10. For Regular Challngers and Secret Challengers the loots can change all the way up to 200 wins in some cases. Some of those wins are milestone wins where somthing very interesting drops like Mage Amulets, Tomes, Scroll Shreds, or Modification Crystals.
In this case of these Event Chellengers for Morostide, the BA and the Director have worked together. There is a new fifth win loot that is related to old Morostide items. I have also found that there is at least one expensive item that is added to the pool of each of these four that drops only after you have gotten ten wins. I haven't explored past twenty on any of these Challengers, so I don't know if other more interesting or valuable drops happen after that.
were you getting drops from the same pool of ~4 or 5 items per each challenger? That's what's happening for me, but I only have one pet so I can't test as well as you did. I just didn't know if the pool was supposed to be that small. Thanks for the reply.

That's a Luminaire book, not a Morostide one.
Last year I could only beat the Pumpkin Patch Goblin once, but this year I can beat him and the dentist multiple times! :D

no, the news post meant that there will be four waves - and Rouland, who will return after the fourth wave of challengers.
You don't need to unlock them. Simply go to the Battle Coliseum, Challange an Opponent, and they will all be under the 'Event' tab.
What no Rouland this year?

I have fought all four Challengers ten times with nine pets, and I am getting different results each time. The RNG is fine.
I am so excited for them! Although every year I then sadly realize I am still undertrained as hell ahaha
it's typical for there to be a chance to get certain items from a small pool of items. If the pool of possible items is small, then you can replicate. Did you get them in the exact same order? Me, I am getting pumpkins to carve instead of some of those loots. But I haven't checked to see if my drops are exactly the same each time. It could be that the RNG is doing it only once per person per challenger?.
I'm noticing that I get the same pattern of Holiday items when I continue to defeat the same opponent. I'm not sure if that is intentional? eg. I just got x2, x2, x3 when fighting Wurlm. If that's the way it's supposed to work please ignore me! I just wasn't sure :)

There's no new items for loot on this wave, but that isn't to say there won't be for future waves! I've worked with on getting some old morostide items (pumpkin patch, ToT, restockables) added to the morostide challengers. I'm eager to see what he ended up using.
