We will also be closing snowball throwing on March 19 and retiring winter themed items from the Recycle Beast Shop.
Afaik the recycle shop winter items have always been there since they were released so it surprised me to read that those are being retired. Not sure if its permanent or temporary either.

Ugh I have so many snowballs to throw, so little time and absolutely no motivation to do so,lol. Yay spring though! I hate cold weather.
Sad about the snowballs, I love them especially the icy snowball. But gave up trying to get the achievement, that will take many years.

Buying from these (and other specialty shops) would be so much easier if there was a cart system for them. Or if I could still do the ctrl/middle button/right button to open the buying in a new tab again. Now I have to click buy, go back, find my place, buy the next thing. Which is extra annoying given my need for so many TC items, wardrobe items, books, etcetcetcetc.
According to google, the first day of spring this year is March 19. It's not a set date every year, it's based on the earth's position around the sun and can fluctuate because our calendar isn't 100% perfect (that's why we have leap years and stuff).
Why March 19th? isn't winter not over until the 21st?
The items themselves aren't new, they usually get brought back every year during winter. But there is usually a news post when they are brought back, like there is for the MC and Quest Shop at the beginning of a new season. But I can't find an announcement of when the recycle shop items were brought back this year.

They get brought back during winter and then retired again at the end of the season every year. So they will probably come back next year.
I think we're mostly just confused because this year there wasn't a news post when they were added back, they just kind of got snuck back into the shop I guess.
