:) I can talk to an artist and about it. Ariel also has celiacs and bakes amazing things
I am absolutely aware that veganism isn't just about diet (which is why I object, tbh; I believe in animal welfare, but I'm absolutely opposed to the animal rights movement and I feel that there are a lot of categories of items on this site that have a lot of ARA preaching in the descriptions). But you said 'doof' and you said that not everyone can eat everything, so I replied to your comment.
I would actually really appreciate it if Fantine would do some gluten-free items, then. Because baked goods are the hardest when you have celiac disease. The absolute hardest.
Oooh i'm stoked for future matcha recipes
next time, just bypass all of this and just call it "health food."
anyway, keen to get my mitts on that matcha powder... looks just like the tin i have at home o:
Aaaaand wishlisted, thanks! ❤️
Maybe in the future there can be food items released for other types of dietary needs to help balance it out? That might be nice!
lol at people being upset about food
Ftlog why must people take everything so seriously? Subeta is a game, everything on here is supposed to be for fun. Items and their descriptions aren't actually trying to preach or shove an agenda in your face. If you really honestly take offense to a pixel item, you need to get a grip. Sorry for the rant but I'm honestly so sick and tired of people whining anytime something is released on subeta
The word 'ingredients' and 'vegetarian' was specifically mentioned as a hint to future Fantine Baking items that are vegan based.
Thanks for the new ingredients! They are actually really nice, and it's not a big deal in the least that they're mentioned to be vegetarian. I do not feel preached at or attacked by anything in this news post or item descriptions. And the art is super nice.
Nice!! Need this for a TC!
I wasn't intending that as like real life reference. It's a nice note on the post for Subeta purposes. Liiiike. If I had ... a pet who is a baker and specializes in vegetarian baked goods, I'd appreciate the note on the news post. Or maybe an item gallery with ... vegetarian items? I dunno. I'd probably appreciate it if I was a vegetarian, too, really. Acknowledgment feels nice, regardless of what it's for, and it's certainly not harming anyone.
Thank you for the specific vegetarian items <3
since when are food items just for pet use? I don't ever use them for that because I like collecting cute food items and putting them in my pantry gallery. And non vegans can eat vegan food, so what's the point of complaining about these ?_?
oof x2
I'm laughing omg
That's literally not the same thing, and nowhere did I specifically call /you/ "names". weird flex but ok
Veganism and vegetarianism is not just about diet. They're ways of living to reduce cruelty and our impact on the environment, among other things. Apples and oranges- There are many ways to cut out things like nuts that don't need to be specially spoken about.
Also the reason the vegan items have those descriptions is for education purposes, like the ones you get in the descriptions for some of the dogs and cats. Not all people believe that spaying and neutering is necessary, for example but does that mean subeta can't promote it? No!
Try not to take it so personally. If you're not vegan, then whatever, just ignore the items and descriptions. But there are plenty of us on here that are thankful they exist.
I need to try this aquafaba stuff purely out of curiosity.
- I've got celiac disease. I can't eat any foods containing gluten. I know many people who cannot eat foods containing peanuts and tree nuts. There are lots of foods that many people cannot eat, yet the staff do not specifically mention in news posts or item descriptions that mochi is gluten-free or spend a lot of time promoting "nut-free alternative" foods. Call me names if it makes you feel better, but this really doesn't seem like it's about inclusiveness for all kinds of diets.
- Surprisingly, if I were looking for more information about nut-free or FODMAP-free foods to serve a visiting friend, I wouldn't come to Subeta for that.
- I'm not upset that vegetarian items exist, I'm annoyed that the site has become extremely preachy about all aspects of life that involve animals. Different thing. I don't know if you've ever noticed how many of the wearable animal items on this site contain preachy text about how people should go about obtaining their pets or caring for them, how many of the furry wearables contain extensive disclaimers about how they are absolutely, never fear, faux fur despite the fact that they're pixels and it isn't possible for anything to die to create pixels, and food item descriptions that say things like "if you're not ready to commit to a meat-free diet" which imply that veganism is the logical end point of anyone wanting to improve their diet by eliminating pesticides and factory-farmed foods.
Why do meat eaters on here get upset EVERY TIME vegetarianism or veganism is brought up? Grow up.
Not everyone can eat animal products, ya doofs. It's important to showcase alternative foods as opposed to just chicken nuggets and burgers lmao.
I feel like yes, there was a need to! Some of the items may be a little more general, but some are specifically used as vegetarian substitutes, and they all are in fact 'vegetarian' ingredients, despite whether they are used for meals containing animal products or not. I love me some poppy seeds on my baked goods! But I'm definitely not veg myself (in fact, a lot of food used frequently in vegetarian meals makes me quite ill) however, I think it's still good to know! Regardless of whether Subeta pets eat anything or not, people do like to theme pets around stuff. Mostly for TCs and all.
Initially came to comment that I love how much the art on Subeta has improved over the years. These all look particularly charming and I love the tiny lettering on 'em.
imagine being upset over vegetarian items
And which pets would be my vegetarian pets, considering that all subeta pets will eat anything you feed them with no ill effects, even poison and poop? (Note: I don't feed my pets poop.)
Was there really an urgent need to draw attention to the fact that these ingredients are ~vegetarian~?
I eat matcha flavoured items all the time. Matcha ice cream (real ice cream), matcha coconut milk ice (because it tastes good), matcha macarons (with real butter)....
I'm not a vegetarian or vegan. Neither are most of the Japanese people who drink matcha all the time.
Matcha powder! Awesome!
always wanted to try Aquafaba
I LOVE this about Subeta, you can always learn new and wonderful things, I had no idea about Aquafaba! I've been throwing that out every time I open a can which is so damn ironic as I can't eat egg white, does anyone know if you can freeze it and if it still contains it's qualities for meringues as it's not something I'd use all the time. Back to the items the art is as always wonderful and Ziggy can't wait to eat them ALL 😻
I've had meringue made from aquafaba and have made vegan cheese using agar agar. Thank you for the new vegan items!
Lovely! Thanks!
I have made marshmallow fluff with aquafaba. Great stuff. Vegetarian here. <3
Ingredients made me think of Fantine baking...
Not a vegan nor vegetarian, but thank you for telling me about aquafaba. I MUST look into this! Love me some good alternatives like that! heart
omg i love it
especially the aquafaba
Totally misread Beet Root as Root Beer....
Poppyseed needs Poppy Seeds for her TC!
Can we get some plain tofu?
Yesss! I just used aquafaba the other day. I'm making vegan apple cider donuts for Thanksgiving. :)
Yes! We finally have matcha! :D All of these a pretty cool too, love the beetroot powder and agar agar. Haven't heard of aquafaba before.
Huh, I didn't know Aquafaba was a thing o-o
do you want some beet root on your burger???
I love it...! Thanks, guys.
thanks subeta for teaching me new things > aquafaba o.o i had no idea what that is. and i need the matcha powder for Dwane's TC
I had no idea chickpea water had a name! The more you know.
Yay, vegan food! And whaaaaat...as a long-time veggie and fan of chickpeas, I've never even heard of aquafaba. Going to have to look into this! Thanks!
Lovely
MATCHA AND AGAR I'M SOBBING (i literally made matcha kanten 2day cuz i was out of other food I CANT BELIEVE)
sobs thank you guys so much the art is so beautiful i am so in love with these new items
FOOD!!!
: That'd be AWESOME!!! <3 <3 <3
I'm lucky to live in San Francisco, but if I lived in a rural area I'd be S. O. L. The most difficult things to find in bakeries are the most delicately-flavoured items (vanilla, rose, strawberry, lemon and lime flavoured light cakes) and it is just my luck that they're also the most difficult items to make with non-standard flour. Dark chocolate and ginger tend to dominate gluten-free baking because those flavours will hide anything, even black bean flour. (I don't understand why black bean flour is even a thing.) When I was first diagnosed, before it was common to find GF items even here, there were days when I would've (not literally) killed for a lovely pastel vanilla or citrus-flavoured cake with real buttercream or cream cheese icing. Now it's not so hard for me, but my stepmum in West Virginia can't find anything she likes.
