Piggy-backing off of what said: I think it's obviously because of his giant paws. In the first book you noted, there are teeny tiny leaves. The Recycle Beast's book however has much larger leaves. This is because the Recycle Beast has large hands and thus finds those easier to handle.
(Disclaimer: It's just my personal headcanon but there you go!)

Can't say anything about the books, but the cat was made because people wanted it to be wearable. The site has a lot of items that are done more than once/very similar to others because people request them for TCs, wearing, or because they just want to and sometimes because an artist doesn't realize something similar was done
