The Graveyard Keeto looks so deliciously rancid. quivers Nice job, for that thing truly looks as if it crawled from a hole. applause It takes a nice artist to put so much detail into a piece. Also, the Turdle looks rather intimidating, and quite neat! Adore the creativity, and thinking outside the box with those.

kills self I wish I'd learn just never to open my fat mouth. o_O I've managed to force myself to quit the forums almost entirely.. and the SB.. I think it's time I did the same with the news posts. o_O I tend to get all passionate and pig-headed and rude.

Noone needs to send apologies my way.. deargods.. if anything, I shoudl be sending them everyone else's. Poorform, poor behaviour on my part.

I bought up Lina's name, not to suggest she was in any way egotistical.. because gods.. i don't even have to know her to know she's not. She's talented.. beyond talented.. and I wasn't trying to suggest your gallery was all about you trying to fuel her ego either. I was sort of trying to point out that you've got a lot of really awesome artist friends.. and as a result, have probably come to understand that a lot of us.. NOT ALL.. but a lot of us.. tend to put a ton of creative energy into something.. so if we detect even the slightest bit of negativity in someone's response.. we get all pathetic and like.. shattered-like. XD Well.. I know that at least.. I do.. though I tend to try and cover that up with the whole.. 'I know.. I suck' defense, which is perhaps, even more pathetic.. hee. xD I guess all I'm trying to say is.. I wasn't deliberately lumping all artists together and saying they're egotistical by default.. gods.. perish the thought.. I suppose I was trying to.. well.. like.. some artists like their egos to be fed.. if that makes sense? To boost confidence. It doesn't have to be high-pitched, completely capitalized, over-the-top praise.. because in some ways.. that's not really helpful at all.. as it probably over-boosts the ol' ego.. but wtf.. where am I going with this? It's hard to find that happy medium I guess. I wasn't trying to suggest artists are all egotistical maniacs who cannot survive without mountains of love and adoration.. and I certainly wasn't trying to suggest you were trying to fuel Lina's ego by having a gallery dedicated to her.. it's actually a really sweet gesture. And I wasn't trying to suggest that lina was in any way up herself, over confident.. etc. I was trying to, by linking you to your most talented artistic friends, like.. trying to.. I mean.. you, having artists for friends, know how to provide feedback. You know how to be constructive, whilst still being positive, which encourages an artist to strive to do even better, whilst still being content with where they're at, at the moment. Do you sooort of know what I mean? I hope so.. although.. I often struggle to understand my explanations, myself.

I probably didn't word it properly.. which makes me a hypocrite for jumping down other people's necks for not choosing their words more carefully.

Anyway.. what I'm trying to do, by rambling incoherently (I know no other way to communicate I'm afraid.. dumb), is apologise to absolutely everyone. My reaction(s) were over the top, thoughtless.. and.. well, unforgivable really. There's no excuse for such poor behaviour, especially from someone who is supposed to act all.. responsible-like. In all seriousness, I should probably be stripped of staff status altogether, because I'm like.. a liability. o_O

And.. I actually found it a little bit odd myself.. that the GY Turdle had traded in fins, for legs. Doi. xD

Umyes. I shall crawl back into my hole and die now. XD

When it comes down to it...

Despite anyone's particular personal opinion: graveyard pets should look like a dead rotting version of their regularform.

It's just illogical that a pet with flippers would aquire legs after death.

Think of the best loved GY pets on the site...they are redraws but just truly look like rotting versions of the regular pets.

The GY turdle is well drawn...on it's own it would be a great addition to subeta's pets... but it has to fit in with the turdle's design...otherwise it's not a GY turdle... more just a random patchwork tortoise...and no matter how well drawn that tortoise is...it's not the GY turdle a lot of people were expecting or hoping for...and now there's not much chance they'll get one.

I do feel bad for artists getting bad crits on their work but it is practically NEVER an insult on their drawing skills...just about pet continunity!
Artists are the backbone of Subeta but the users are the rest of the body! They are THE most important people on subeta and an artist's job is to make subeta as best as they can for its players. Now, if that means changing your designs and ideas to please them...then sometimes that's a sacrifce that has to be made... it may be nice to have your pet designs on the site...but isn't a lot nicer when those designs are used and loved by many people?

The Keeto is absolutely amazing. I adore it in every sense of the word.

I do not care much for the turdle either as it is a little too bubbly, and the cell shading is too dramatic for my tastes.

Also, great job on the devonti. It's lovely.

Myth,

You shouldn't lump all artists together in one category and assume we're all egotistical. A lot of us are quite the opposite, suffering from a lack of self esteem and confidence in our work, like myself. And I'm offended that you would call out my name here, especially since I'm normally not around to even defend myself against such things.

Also, I agree that the GY Turdle is well lined and shaded. But to keep it looking like the species to which it belongs, it's my opinion that it should have flippers instead of legs. I do not "probably" dislike you, Mythi. I actually hate arguing with you because I love your sense of humor and spontinaeity. And I enjoy calling you Mythi-poopie! Sometimes I disagree with your opinions, but I do however like you muchly.

My Lina gallery was in no way Lina's idea to fuel her own ego. I do that cause she's a laovely friend and she brought me here to Subeta. It's my way of giving back, I suppose.

And no. I probably would not have gotten a graveyard turdle anyway, but I am passionate about making Subeta a great place (or keeping it one, rather). I've applied for a job here on one occasion because I wanted to be part of it. I do enjoy this place immensely. Perhaps I shouldn't make it my aim to care so much, but I do. I should just back off. It's none of my business, eh?

I just feel that continuity is important. Part of what makes that Other site so successful art-wise is that you can hardly tell the difference between the artists work. Here lately, I see different colored outlines, different styles of shading, different qualities of art. I know that you are all working for free, and so we can't demand perfection, but some set of guidelines should be followed. Look at all the Kumos colors. Do they all look like the same species that Kotenia originally redrew? The legs are elongated, the snouts...

I could have offered praise, yes. And I'm beginning to be sorry I didn't. I do love the hook on the turdle's shell. Nice mean touch. I guess I assume that artists are confident in their work and have some kind of self-worth that a little suggestion couldn't chip away entirely. And yes...I feel some artists' egos are out of hand sometimes. I'm not saying I'm out to break their egos, but I think that they should be able to handle it too.

I do however, understand getting upset if/when someone just says "Blah, I don't like it." or "ONG, that sucks." That's rude and very tactless. Forgive me, but I've done the whole add a bit of nicety to the end of negative feedback thing before, and it landed me in the same argument. Why bother trying if artists get their feelings hurt no matter what we say?

And I see now that comment to which you were probably referring. I don't enjoy being the victim at all. And I do apologize for taking your remark personally. I'm sure you probably don't like my opinions, but I do hope you see from where it stems. I just want to see this place be uniform somehow, despite the vast age/talent/style ranges of our artists. It hurts me when something so different from the original squeaks by like this.

To make the artist feel better though, it is WELL DRAWN. The lineart is nice, and the shading is also well done. I love the choice of colors, and as mentioned before, the hook on the shell is a nice touch. I just personally would love to see flippers instead of fins, a larger head and nose and a longer shell. You are still a talented artists, make no mistake. SUbeta would not have hired you if you weren't...but not everyone is going to like what you do all the time. Don't let that damage your self-worth. Sometimes, people like me can't keep their mouth shut.

You of all people.. should know that yes, artists are temperamental egomaniacs.. you do afterall have a shrine dedicated to an artist who no longer volunteers here, because she has outside commitments, and outgrew her commitments here, and you often provide feedback on art here at Subeta.. pet art in particular. Call it a weakness... which it is.. but yes.. artists tend to be absolute pains in the rear end.. perfectionists who receive feedback grudgingly. Pft. It's been one of those universal issues that reoccurs in a number of communities.. web-based or otherwise -- there's a difference between openly showing dislike for someone's work, even if this dislike is revealed in a somewhat.. devious way, if you like.. and then commenting on the things you aren't particularly fond of, whilst still giving praise where it's due. Would you have ever considered getting a GY Turdle anyway? I thought you were far more taken with Chais and Felis. o_O Yes.. there's a change in anatomical continuity in this one particular case.. but if you haven't anything nice to say.. well.. yes.. even if it's just hastily added to the end of a bit of negative feedback, a bit of nicety wouldn't hurt. o_O

I honestly wasn't referring to your feedback Kelpie. You at least gave some indication as to why you so strongly dislike the GY Turdle. It was a rather more snide and elusive comment that was made, without providing any explanation whatsoever, that got to me. But.. if you'd like to feel victimised when I had absolutely no thought as to your comments, by all means.. go ahead. I'm already aware you probably dislike me because I, like you, voice my opinions. o_O

I just didn't see anyone criticising except me, so I took your comment personally. You know I don't try to be rude, but it seems like no matter what gets said about art...if it's remotely negative, even if worded constructively, artists in general get super offended, and we as users are seen as unappreciative and rude...

I don't mean to come across as such, but artists work to keep Subeta happy with the art. I'd just like to voice when I'm not happy with the art. I hardly think that saying that some of us users "suck" is any more tactful or polite than any criticism we could give.

Mythi, you really don't have to get so defensive over the artists. I honestly think that constructive criticism isn't bad. You know how I like to try to preserve the original creations. It just really peeves me when a creature is changed entirely. The color choices are really nice, and even the coloring job. I just think a few things structurally are wrong with it. I just doesn't look like a turdle. Like Dokuja said, it reminds me of a tortoise.

Fantastic job on all of the artists involved in all of these pets. :3 The sewn on patches type thing the Turdle has going on, with the gems, is really inventive. :3 Dynamic colouring too!

I love the whole.. snowflake-sitting-on-tongue concept.. with the DM blob on the Devonti. xD Very cool colouring job too.. as always. pets Hanako

That keeto is beyond magnificent. :3 I miss the flies a lot fo the GY pets have.. since they're one of the amusing little additions which makes our GY colour so unique.. but the aura totally makes up for that. I love the hunched over pose too. If and when I can get my hands on a GY Potion.. I have a feeling Ei will be in for some Zombie treatment. >D eyeballs her Sun Keeto and laughs manically
