Good think I used a tome to reset item hunt, and unlock him.
50mil is a ridiculous penalty for doing nothing wrong.
Give him to the winners for free.
Up until today I was on lv96. Was it worth quitting at that point, maybe? It does seem to be a better investment than paying, now I just need to level up to the point where I can beat him.
Lol all the people whining that 50 mil is too expensive. I've already unlocked Chase, actually fairly recently, and I can tell you I had to spend a pretty penny as well. I had to quit at level 91 since he asked for something around 50 mil, and considering the Swash was worth maybe a little over 60 mil at the time, I figured it was better to try again later. If I took that quest and THEN quit (like if he asked for an unbuyable) I would've spent way over 50 mil to unlock him. Let's focus on the positives instead! This is a GREAT sP sink to get rid of all that extra sP laying around, right? :D

i think, once you have beaten the game at level 101 - you must be able to do his quests again"but only from level 0 to level 76 "that way you cannot win/earn another swashbuckle anymore but you still can get some nice sp rewards AND you have the chance to unlock him at level 75
maybe a better idea then to let people pay 50 million to unlock him - wich is way to cheap or easy in my opinion
50 mil is unreasonable. 10 mil, I might pay. I've maxed out already. I had no idea you had to quit after level 75 in order to get him as a challenger. :S I appreciate the attempt to make him accessible, but I would never pay 50 mil. That's way too much.

I gave up on Item Hunt years ago. Every time I got over level 75 he asked for an unbuyable item, not an expensive one but one that was literally never for sale or trade. Too frustrating. Good luck to the rest though.
Highest I've ever gotten on item hunt is I think level 80. I hate loosing money so I never spend more than I have to. lol

I find this to be a rather rude insult to add to the injury that one of my better sources of income was permanently barred after reaching level 100. Even if one wants to argue that the challenger wasn't a free unlock, the price would be nowhere near comparable to 50 million. Maybe ten million at absolute worst but not 50. I'd reached level 74 still turning a (slimmer and slimmer) profit once before so, no, 50 million is supremely unreasonable to me. This is just another great reason to add to the "If I'd have known I'd never have reached the final level" rant.
I remember this announcement, actually. It just tells us, we cannot start at level 50 with the Tome. I also remember that sounded kind of weird, but since I had no plans of using the Tome, I didn't care. Nobody ever told us, we cannot play Item Hunt at all any longer after finishing it now. I guess the posting implies, that we all know, that we cannot start over again once having reached level 100. Obviously until then it was possible to play again using the Tome - ? -

Why do I feel you guys are PUNISHING me for finishing item hunt? I don't have his income anymore. Swashbuckles are pretty worthless nowadays considering the effort/sP spent to get there, and it's also tier 11 so I can't use it. Now this? At least with this I have a choice. And I say 'no thanks'.
I was able to unlock Chase as a challenger by quitting and I doubt I've spent 50 mil total on the game in the first place. Seems super high to me as well.
There never was any announcement concerning Item Hunt being over for good now all of a sudden after beating the game. We all thought it was another bug? I only found out by chance this was going on.
I also feel, that 50 mil is too much, esp. considering, that these people have lost that kind of income.
So... I forgot after getting way past level 75 when I decided to just finish it and get it over with, didn't want to restart, thought "I could just send a ticket in to a kind staff person because I'm a twit."...... Yeah, I can make 50 mil from a few commissions but I don't know if the price is worth it. 20 mil I would hand out but not sure on 50.
The tome is 52m in the MC (and I'm not totally sure off-hand but I'm pretty sure its SS price was closer to that than it is now, back when it was more useful)

He wasn't free -- you had to quit after one of the higher levels of Item Hunt (I think 75+). So yeah, if you did that and then had to repeat those levels all over again to finish Item Hunt, you ended up spending quite a bit.

Yeah, but after you beat level 100, you're done. You can't use the tomes anymore. This was a change we did a while back, and now we're getting chase out there for those who can't just use a tome to try to get him as a challenger
