I'm glad we've managed to rise up a spot, but I'm just not sure there's enough time to bridge the gap. I wish I didn't know the scores. Also, why does this have to be happening during midterms? :c I want to help so much more, but I can't. I must do math. u-u;

At this rate I am going to run out of Tokens for vending because the Shops never stay stocked and I'm probably cheap because I think 5k per single snowball is still a hefty price to pay. But I'll figure out something.. I love my Team.

It's hard to vend for items to turn in when the site is up and down every few minutes. I can barely get over 225 items turned in since this event started let alone trying to quest or anything else. It's hard to stay excited about anything when error pages stare you in the face every other page. Even the log in is slow to let you in with all the 502 and 504 errors since I tried to come in after 4pm today ^_^. I'll do what I can to help the team I'm on but it's ending up being way more stress than fun. This is why many of us can't help out as much as we would like to. What do we do now? Thank you kindly ❤.

It's a shame there doesn't really seem to be any personal achievements to encourage pushing through the site's constant breaking and the empty shops, though. I'll probably stick to cheering and turning over quest rewards.
Yeah I kinda wish the scores would have been kept a secret until like the last day. I am happy that there isn't an individual prize though, last year was kinda a mess. It's also sort of frustrating that we know these scores, but there's conflicting information floating around so we don't really know how they're scored.
I can't wait to see the finished snowmen. Err...snow creatures.
With some teams 100k-200k behind, it's rather discouraging. I think some people probably saw the scores and figured it wouldn't be worth it to keep on donating if there wasn't an individual prize and it seemed impossible to win.

You'd think Team Nature would be doing better from any removal of a lower range though maybe, as they're the biggest team and presumably have the most freeloaders. Or maybe people just aren't meeting the threshold. I dunno. I've been watching the average score this evening and everything just looks normal to me; this mathematician is flummoxed.
We didn’t add any individual achievements/prizes because this is a team event. We’re rewarding teams as a whole. This isn’t like the snowball fight where the top snowball throwers had a special prize, this is literally all about team effort!
And pffft, who cares about shark when Team Sibling got Jabba the Hut or whatever that is.
Hehe, but the shark really is super cool. Can't wait to see all the snowmans!

- That, or maybe freeloaders' contributions aren't counted until they cross a certain threshold? Maybe they have to pass 30% of the average score or something. That's the only thing I can think of that would include averages in the calculation.

I don't think averages are a fair or accurate way of keeping score at all.
You NEED to add an individual score prize to discourage free-loaders and encourage people to achieve. ie: 500 items donated gets an achievement, 1000 items donated....etc.
I know this is a team sport, but this will get taken advantage of if there is nothing to reach for.

Average doesn't necessarily favour the small teams; I know Pirates had more members for Pirates vs Islanders and pulled out a victory. There should also be less problems with freeloaders here - which often plagues the largest team - as you can't sign up any more. Absolute definitely favours the large teams. More people means more chance to earn points!
But if it is calculated by averages in the end, ignore me! It would be nice for the information to be visible as I like to set myself goals and it helps to know where we are, not so fun to shoot in the dark!

scoring is tricky business. direct score favor team with highest member, assuming everyone contribute. average score favor team with lowest member. so, nothing is ever fair.

I don't see why anyone thinks they have no chance now. It's been one day. One day, and the teams have scores between 150k and 350k. It's completely plausible that the top teams are out of hoarded items/get comfortable/have a bad day etc and the lower teams see these scores and boost into overdrive. If your team got 150k the first day, why couldn't they get that and more the next day? Isn't this going until Friday? There is plenty of time and the scores are close enough in my opinion that it's still possible for anyone to win! It's just a matter of who gives up and who gets gung ho and has the hoard/sP or vend-quest luck to do so! GO AT IT!! GO TEAM STICK TOGETHER/TEAM HOTDAD/TEAM LUCKY BEARD!!! <3 <3 <3

True! But that poll is still a small set of the user base that actually joined teams. Like I’ve said before, this is truly a team effort. It’s unfortunate, but sometimes people join a team that looks like it’s going to be the most popular and then… do nothing, which doesn't help at all haha.
Yesterday was a perfect day to start this since here in northern Arizona we got a ton of snow dumped on us Sunday night and Monday. Perfect. :)
Let's not count Team Sibling out. We may have the smallest team and score at the moment, but we've got a lot of heart and I honestly would never have chosen another team, knowing what IK now. Everyone is helping each other out and being amazing. And even if we feel down, we're not out. Even if we don't end up on the top IMO we still win because we're not giving up and we're not backing down, and that's the entire point of being a team. No matter what, I'm proud of us and am glad I'm on this team. Go Team Sibling <3
