Server Update

Hi everyone! I hope you\'ve been enjoying Subeta on the new servers! In the past few hours, it appears we had some problem with white pages and pages taking 3+ minutes to load.

We rely on a service called Cloudflare to cache and bundle our CSS and Javascript (as well as provide cached versions of popular libraries that we use) to make the site as fast as possible for you. Unfortunately, they were in the news today and that resulted in a massive denial of service that brought their infrastructure down. Fortunately this is what they are good at, and should have it resolved soon.

Regardless of that part of this move was to rely less on infrastructure we don\'t have complete control over, so we\'ll be investigating how to move these libraries and caching away from third party services.

Who knew all the stuff that was happening to the site was because of Cloudfare and you took the brunt of our anger and frustration. Thank you Keith for all you do for us. We really appreciate.

A bit troll the host?. Ouch, Maleria have shouted at me because when the server gots down suddenly... I was making a quest for her... oops! xD Anyways, is a good news, i was really hard last nite do a quest with that error appearing every 2-5 minutes. Thanks! Really Thank You! :D

I agree with you! Though I kinda think any support for ISIS needs to be taken away.... (I read the cloudfare and denial-of service articles, no hate here!)

Oh, bad timing :(. I felt, that the whole site ran a lot smoohther and faster apart from the white pages and inbetween waiting for - whatever ... to load. I kept restarting my computer, ever time I got the white pages, lol.

a+ timing for anonymous to strike with a ddos attack am I right. Hopefully all that settles and gets squashed quickly because hoo boy am I tired of 502 errors and blank pages

Don't you hate working so hard at trying to fix something only to find out it's so beyond your control? DDoS attacks on something that's not directly in your realm aren't really anything you're doing wrong, and it sucks you just have to wait for the shields to go up, so to speak. That said, CloudFlare did do pretty well considering that a DDoS can continue for hours on end, and they got it dealt with in rather short time.

It really was just the worst day for the DDoS to strike, given the work on the server transition. I was trying so hard to get through the awesome bonus quests and not getting very far when it all went down horribly. I look forward to the new bonus, though the "Every quest is a Weekend Quest" will be kinda hard to top.

Part of me can't argue with the DDoS attack, as it was part of the cyberwar on Daesh. CloudFlare's flimsy attempt to claim Anonymous uses their services didn't help them any either. I'm not exactly happy with CloudFlare for not being willing to take down Daesh related sites, given that I'm incredibly anti-Daesh to begin with, and that was before November 13th. So I guess I'll take a bit of downtime in order for a point to be made, and hopefully with the sites being made public, the more obvious installations like Homeland Security or overseas agencies will get on CloudFlare's ass about the sites.

As a programmer, I know all too well the pain of desperately searching for a bug and eventually finding out that your searching was futile. Part of what keeps me going when bug-searching is looking forward to that glorious feeling of getting it to WORK.

the V3 goes to a white page and does nothing even if i leave it for 30 minutes. The old wardrobe gives me HAs without a face.

Thanks for the update! I did get a lot of quests done, but it was impossible afterwards to do anything else. Like the idea of not relying on those 3rd parties you don't have control over! Thanks for all the hard work.

I'm telling you, they're using political hacktivism as an excuse to attack our glorious pets and HAs /adjusts tinfoil hat just so But seriously, that is some high-level bad luck and hopefully it goes on to being smooth sailing from now on. We've all stood by you guys through worse (remember how bad things were back in 08?) and we'll keep coming back cause ya'll awesome, seriously o7

It should be working if you're using the V3. If you aren't, that's probably the problem.

I was one of those people who couldn't finish questing because of the site going down. Can it be extended through Friday night? I see the post about a bonus but I'd still really like to do these quests. :)

Thank you guys for working so hard on the transfer. I was able to get through my quests with only one white page. I waited a few minutes, came back, and it all went smoothly the rest of the time. You guys are great and this is why Subeta is my favorite. <3

Incredibly frustrating that I spent 30 minutes trying to debug the problem and it was something I could't fix.
We're going to do another bonus - maybe not all quests being weekend quests - but something cool, once this all settles down and we are stable.
