Experiment #6789 Revamp!

Pumpkin spice is so hard to get a hold of in the Darkside. I remember when I first created this experiment by spilling a whole cup of my pumpkin spice latte over some other pet parts I had laying around. Feather of irion, scale of serpenth and such. I really wanted that drink, curse it. At least it led to something delightfully terrible! I decided to revisit and revamp that experiment, the , and the scribble too! This time I made TWO pumpkin spice lattes to make sure I got to enjoy one of them!

I could understand drawing over the same design with superior artwork, but why change the facial expression?

The original version had a quirky, freaky, bug-eyed monster bird look that made it unique and appealing, giving it a real "experimental mutant" vibe and offering something a little different.

Now, the change to its eyes just makes it look generically cute and Disneyesque. It's lost all of its original soul.

I like this revamp,it brings the experiment out a lot more than the previous one. (didn't know it previously had a swirly pattern!) The pose and anatomy is a great improvement yet I can see why many prefer its original face.

The scribble's revamped colour is fine. I see why scribbles should resemble child drawings but at the same time you'd want users to see a pet colour that they'd be able to use rather than make it unappealing for them to have. Maybe if the whites shown a lot more and the colour fill was more scribbly texture then it would look more scribbly.

I used to have this experiment. I really liked the old expression a lot better and I don't like the new eyebrows. But the shading is nice.

My first thought: Oh my gosh, those were feathers? Now I'm looking at the previous version and wondering how the heck I never noticed its feathers and talons. What.

Something seems off to me, maybe the face? But all in all, the textures look great, the beak, tail, and feathers have great detail, and the fin-things look great.

Oooh, I really like how the revamp made the detailing on the tail much more visible. And the scribble is much, much nicer. :3

I much prefer the revamp. I always thought the original looked too distorted for my tastes.

The face doesn't look as dopey/spooked anymore, but other than that this is a pretty darn good revamp! 6789 is a lil cutey patooty now :)

Oh, man... :( Im so sad everybody likes the new one because... The outstanding features of the old pet gave it much more personality, he looked like a quirky librarian fishy man, so I loved him. Now I'm much less impressed, his neck doesn't even bend the same way! I loved that part, it was so dragon like.

2nd looks like he is happy to see you. Raised earfins, the highlights are wider which is reminiscent of a wider pupil which indicates fondness. 1st looks like he is wary of you. Its like Dumbledore's crazy faces. Ears are lowered, body is facing away, spine fins are also lowered. Eye has crease beneath which might suggest that they are widened to their furthermost extent. At this point it also appeared that he had a skull XD and the texture on his tail looked like velvet <3 weirdly shiny velvet, but, yeah. I'm not sure what texture the tail has now. Its like he went from a wild animal to a tamed pet. But I guess that makes sense. Cuz despite being an experiment, he was still your pet. So Idk I really don't like ;_ ; But I suppose this is permanent so I'll have to deal with it xD The artist did a really good job anyway.

Besides so many other users now like this pet a lot more so thats a good thing! And the scribble is adorably perfect. But Ive never had an interest in scribble pets at all, so I dont really think I have a place in this. xD

I not sure why this one needed a revamp - the scribble, I definitely like the revamp better, but the regular one the original is way better. It had shading and little details like that already, and the new one, the face has lost all personality to me. I mean, it's an experiment. It's supposed to not look "correct". the ginormous eyes and discolored beak just worked, and now the face just looks way more generic bird. And now that I look at it again, I like the shading way more on the original. :( meh. I probably was never going to get one anyways, of either version, so I guess my opinion isn't the one they were after lol

It just...lost all of its creepy charm. I really dislike this revamp, but the scribble one is great.

On another point, is it bad for me to wish experiment pets had actual names? Ever since I joined Subeta, I have always forgotten experiment pets exist just because I can never remember their numbers. Even something incoherent would be better for me than random numbers. For example, I would name this Bwkk (from "Bawk" because it's really bird like)

I really like it! It looks nice and cuter now c8

In regards to the scribble debate - while them looking goofy is the point (since they were originally an april fool's joke), I really prefer them to have some standard of quality in terms of art. Because otherwise, who would actually want them as a pet?

I mean, look at the scribble noktoa. It's adorable! It's goofy and scribbly and yet still endearing enough to be wanted.

But then there's some that could use revamps. Like, they aren't completely unlikable, but they're a little... eh. Like the dragarth.

I really like the scribble version now!!!! I kinda want one. ;A; I love scribbles that aren't too scribbly/distorted. I have a scribble , and I think this one seems in line with the other scribble examples people have posted. The has super clean lines, so I don't see why this scribble shouldn't have been revamped.

The art is very nice, but I like the way it had a sense of distortion and unnaturalness that almost looked haunting in the original face. It truly looked mutated before the update.

I also dont see what the scribble issue is. No one ever said they were drawn by children. To me its more what someone would doodle on the side of their homework/on a napkin at dinner. It can of course have more detail in colour and all. But what makes it scribble to me is its being unfinished/looking like it was a quick sketch.

Sure some of the scribbles that are childish are cute, but they seem a lot less useful in my opinion. These are concept art, while those would only work for a very specific type of pet based on kids/etc.

Maybe Im the minority here in my thinking, but I hope the experiments that are more detailed scribbles stay as they are. Its cute to think that maybe elucid just took some markers and a pencil and drew these out in mere moments.

I think the scribble is fine:

Maybe give it a little more white showing if anything (since that seems to be the trade-off for detail) but honestly with some of the complicated (but awesome/cute) poses we've gotten this isn't at the top end of the 'very drawn' list.

I liked the older one's face better, it looked more like something that went through a horrendous zapping experience, but the rest of the art on the body is nice.

The older scribble actually looked like a scribble. The new art, as has been mentioned, is too detailed. More sketch than scribble.

The artwork overall is definitely an improvement. Tho' I'm not a fan of the overly bushy eyebrows or the more eagle-like beak (experiments to me are more fun the less 'anatomically correct' they are). The new design also looks a lot less timid than the old version, which to me is a plus.

Not my cup of tea, but in the end, a very good revamp.

I like the common revamp a lot personally. Actually it might be just perfect for what I'm wanting... The scribble version I'm mixed on. On the one hand, it looks really good. On the other hand, that's not the point of Scribble XD But I think overall, honestly, I like the new one better. Maybe something that is somewhere between the old and new scribble would have been better? Idk.

Love the new common version! But... I feel like the scribble is a downgrade. It's too detailed and thus lost a lot of the humor.

Aw I loved how delightfully scribbly the old scribble version was, but the new one is adorable too. ^_^ I especially love all the extra detail, makes the pose look even cooler. The new regular version is awesome! The only thing I think it's lacking compared to the old one is the ginormous eyes. They were the creepiest thing about it! That and maybe the surplus of folds in the ear wings that have been tamed. I love how smooth and aquatic they look now, but I wonder how it would look with all that mass of folds in there. Nicely drawn as always. <3

And I agree with Darkrai's idea, maybe you guys should actually have kids (Anyone have any there? Maybe niece/nephew/siblings available) draw them up and go off of their interpretations. XD

While the revamp is pretty awesome, I think it looks a bit fatter now. Also, the ears are less dramatic (lacking the frilliness(?)) and the claws don't look as threatening.

Either way, good job! :)
