As a Mandarin speaker, I initially assumed the "Gui" referred to ghosts/creatures, but turtle makes sense too. I'm looking forward to the expansion.

Though if the lack of clarification on those points is meant to be immersive, it would be nice if they dropped some hints or something to say "to be continued" so it doesn't feel unfinished.

Yes, thanks for the confirmation. I'm left to assume that while ren is IRL mandarin, here, perhaps Ren is the intended proper noun referring to the nationality of Shengui Guo's people on Subeta? If so, it would be better for the article or staff to clarify, translate, and/or confirm this in the future.

Hmm. My take, or my best guess, was that the name Shengui Guo was given by staff/creators conferring the meaning "country of the turtle god" in reference to IRL World Turtle mythemes. Three separate parts: "shen" god, "gui" turtle, "guo" country. And turtles on Subeta are called chelons. So, more specifically now, Shengui Guo in it's native language may mean "country of the godlike chelon" (or a variation of some such implying the country is ON the back a godlike chelon).

It really only seems strange next to other articles specifically translating words that are purportedly written in languages native to specific places throughout Subeta. "Ytiva," the given name of the Arctic Frost, meaning "snowing" in the language of the indigenous people or how Ji-Meneb is "born of Meneb" where "meneb" translates to "Darkside." If these parts/words (shen, gui, guo) are meant to be given as parts of a (made-up but supposedly authentic) foreign language indigenous to the people of Shengui Guo, and properly contribute to the world lore, this article too should note/translate them in kind. Otherwise, it confuses, by comparison.

Presently, it isn't as immersive, authentic, or consistent as the other articles, but it will undoubtedly change. Perhaps it will be in tandem with them finding a representative to assist in translation and relations with the rest of Subeta? In which case, the lack of clarification and translation, in a certain light, actually kind of lends to immersion, if you think about it -- presently, Subetans don't have anyone to speak with regarding the people and language of Shengui Guo, in order to affix proper translations. So as Subetans, we're more or less left to our assumptions and inferences at present.

That should probably have been explained in the Subetapedia entry, though. Same with Shengui Guo itself:

I thought people said Shengui Guo meant "walled city" or something? I don't see the turtle connection, and I'm not familiar with this language at all so I'm totally lost. If they're going to keep slipping in bits of other languages, it would be nice if they'd remember that we English speakers can't really follow along without some help.

Yes, ren=human. I don't think that they should have capitalised it though, since it's not reaaaally a proper noun, but I get what they were going for. It just feels weird because you wouldn't capitalise it in English ('the American People are... etc.).

It's fine the way it is. Since English doesn't really have genderless singular pronouns, you're supposed to just pick a gendered pronoun ("he" or "she") and go with it. Using "they" or "their" is typically considered less correct (though it is becoming more popular):

Nice. Except one bit "While Shengui Guo has a large non-religous population, other dilifgently show up at temple." Should probably read "While Shengui Guo has a large non-religious population, others diligently show up at temple." (or "at the temples)
