Get Your Brew On: Design Your Own Microbrew

Alegarten is just around the corner and what better way to celebrate it than by running a user contest?

You will have until September 22nd to design your very own microbrew that will be sold at the brewery during Alegarten!

What does this contest involve exactly? You will be naming your drink, coming up with a fun description for it, designing a logo that can easily fit on a label, and deciding other fun factors such as making it a six pack or a single brewed drink. There are so many possibilities! You can incorporate NPCs from around the site into your design, such as having Lukien brew up something delicious. You could also design a drink around one of our species, like a brew strong enough to take down a mortiking! Again, the possibilities are endless. Note: Your drink should be a brewed drink such as an ale, beer, cider, lager, etc.

You do not have to draw the item; our artists will be making the official art. You can submit art for your logo or just a detailed description.

On September 22nd at 11:59pm, we will be closing submissions and opening up user voting. You will be able to vote for 5 of your favorite drink ideas. On September 28th at 11:59pm we will be closing down voting and the top 5 drinks will be created to be sold at the Brewery.

If you win, youâ€™ll be getting a free copy of your delicious drink as well as your choice of an item from the cash shop (retired or current, though CSC cards and GAs do not count) and 15 forum shop points!

Please donâ€™t try to create or consume any actual alcohol while participating in this contest.

Hi I am back to bother you more. So I designed a bottle and the logo with the idea of the bottle being in front of it. Am I allowed to suggest color ideas for the logo ? Along with an actual color swatch for specific things ? I am not crazy. Alright I am.

hahahaha. Well, the Gunther at the Brewery only sells ale, cider, lager, etc. Thatâ€™s what I tried to include in the news post as item examples. The Libertine Lounge has all those hardcore drinks thatâ€™ll get you messed up ;)

thank you for clarifying, I don't drink and my knowledge of alcohol is this one line :-

beer is cheap alcohol, wine is expensive alcohol, Vodka will knock you out!

I've gone ahead and changed the news post a bit to include that bit about a brewed drink. You can edit your submission though to meet the requirements! (Keep your spirit idea somewhere though, because we might just do a contest for the spirit-esque drinks for the Masquerade!)

Itâ€™s being sold in the brewery and is for Alegarten, so yeah it should be a brewed (that's why we used the word microbrew) drink like ale, beer, etc.

The description section is for your item description, like for the Label Lager in the news post the item description is â€œThis lager has been specially aged for color and flavor.â€. The logo section is where you describe your logo and other information. The top of the submit page says â€œIf you submit an image for your logo, please keep it under 2MB! If you are just writing out what your logo entails, please be as detailed as possible. Important details such as if your brew comes in a six pack, if itâ€™s a cider or ale, if a particular NPC endorses it, etc.â€.

I was 2 words short for my description, so I put the final sentence along with the logo to explain which words were missing... but that means I do exceed the 500 by 2, does that matter? Should I change it? I've already submitted it

this might be a silly question, but does the cash shop prize also include items from CS bonus weekends (the special items you get when purchasing CSC)? i would think those wouldn't be included as they're not really "cash shop" items and are intended to be rewards for spending actual money on the site, but i just want to make absolutely certain.

I love how mortiking was referenced in this, poor dino doesn't get enough love! But this is pretty cool though. Be interesting to see what people come up with that's for sure.

Yes! Users are voting on item name, item description, and logo (doesnâ€™t matter if it is art or just written out). And yeah you can have both the logo art and written out.

Thanks for answering. One more quick question then I will leave you alone and tweak my entry - The logo description will also be available to view during voting? Even if we have an art logo? And if we have an art logo, we can use the entire logo description to "sell" the beer, right?

You will not get to edit your submission. Iâ€™ve had a programmer edit the information on the page to show that the â€œdescribe your brew hereâ€ is actually the item description section and the logo section should be for the other information like general feel for the bottle or like the page says â€œIf you are just writing out what your logo entails, please be as detailed as possible. I wouldnâ€™t make that your main focus, but I donâ€™t see why you canâ€™t include a general bottle shape or something. If I were entering this, I would def include things about the bottle like â€œx glass color, x general shapeâ€.

Can we edit the description after we (hypothetically) win? I mean, for myself personally, I like a shorter item description (I have what I feel to be a good item description in my description box.) but if all that we're given to describe our brew is the description box, then I need to edit my stuff because I have more info I could put in instead.

Does this post make sense at all?

I -could- use my 500 characters to describe the brew and try to get people to vote for it, but is that description going to turn in to the item description should we win?

If you arenâ€™t submitting a drawn out logo, just try to do your best to describe it so other users will understand it (and hopefully vote for it).

My fiance is in the process of homebrewing a honey porter and we just bought a 24 pack of Sam Adams Rebel IPA (I'm 30, so I'm definitely of age to do this...)
