Change to Crypts



I know a lot of you are disappointed that the chance of making it through the Crypts ended at the end of Games Day. Well, I’ve talked with Blake and it appears that there has been a change to the Crypts!

When you make it to the end, instead of finding a random piece of treasure you are taken to a shop of sorts. You’ll be able to pick the piece of treasure you want out of all the items. You don’t necessarily have to spend that ‘treasure point’ right then and there, though I strongly suggest it because you only get to the shop if you make it through to the end.

I'm still looking through the forums, but did we get any sort of confirmation of if the Frankencluck pieces were moved from being final prizes to being random events during actual gameplay? Because if they were assumed to be random ones that occur and therefore not added to the prize shop then there is no longer a way to obtain Frankencluck pieces.

There should be an achievement for most times failing to get past the first door, because that's an achievement I could get - easily! That, and one for never making it past the first option of the Ice Fields, that'd be 2 achievements more me! All right.....................................................giggity!

Couldn't even make it past the Crypts yesterday however I have gotten much farther than ever possible! Could have tried more times yesterday though. I'm not good with games like these, I never make it through.

I made it through three times yesterday, got 2 items and (combined) ~10.5m. Which was awesome, because I have spent SO much money training my pet, lol!

The whole idea behind a rare item is being expensive, the laws of supply and demand state that necessarily, if an item has a given amount of demand, the less of that item that there is, the more expensive it ought to be. If an item can be earned, even if not in an easy way, it should necessarily be less rare and therefore less expensive than an item that can only be won through a matter of luck who's "luck value" that makes it more rare than the item that is earned. Also any item that is "unobtainable" can't be sold for hundreds of millions because, well, its not possible to obtain? The book is very much obtainable and there would be more of them if more people thought it worth it to try for that tiny little margin of victory. But they don't, so it stands that it should have a very high price tag, and the less desirable items that get one with an equal amount of chance should have a lower price tag. It IS in fact good for the economy for some random someone to win an incredibly valuable item through a game of chance (like for instance getting the last hit on a global boss...) and sell that item to someone who knows its value and wants it. If someone becomes suddenly rich they're likely to spend money, it's just the nature of people, money flowing in large values through the economy is good. Quite frankly I think that anyone who wants to complete a collection of any sort should necessarily have to shell out some big money. Aside from the genetech skin and godly weapons, some rare collectibles should and do have the most expensive price tags. We need a spread of ridiculously expensive items through as many mediums as possible to have a strong, long lasting economy. That's what keeps a game going.

As for picking the item, it is a bad idea to let people pick what they want because: If they pick an item they want to keep, then a rare item gets released and never moves in the economy Or for the people who don't want to keep any of the items, they are likely to pick the most valuable item. Several people do that and the item loses it's value, so the next most valuable item get's chosen and devalued and so on and so forth. Obviously if the odds of Crypts are kept as rare as they are this will take longer to happen, but it will still happen, and it isn't really beneficial to the site as a whole.

tl;dr We need RIDICULOUSLY expensive items in the economy, ones that will hold their value. Games of chance with extremely low odds are surely one of the best ways of doing just that. Making prize shops for everything decreases the value of all of the items not just the most expensive items, and devalues the game as a whole and is not helpful to the economy.

I made it to the end twice back on the days I was playing it frequently hoping for a creeping sludge but I think that was it as far as my good luck goes, not even on game day I made it far Now that the creeping sludge is available to get if you make it thru the end I doubt It'll happen to me again

As someone who has never seen a creeping sludge around, I'm very happy to see this! If I ever make it again, there are plenty of wearables I'd like to have and wouldn't pay the current price for (if there's even a current price for some of them).

I disagree with people paying fortunes for every super rare item; if we must keep items that move big amounts of sp around, I'd rather have those items be things you earn, rather than things you get via being lucky. And I definitely think we have enough highly priced collectibles.

I'm looking into upping the chances through crypts a tad bit. We want it to be hard to get to the end, but now that you can choose the item you want maybe a few more will pop around site. ;)

Subeta releases a rare/expensive item = Users save up to obtain it = Subeta complains users have too many points = Subeta releases even more rare/expensive items = Users try to save up = repeat Yes, it's fairly easy to earn some points, but there's a limit. And when the "normal Subeta user" has under 40m (which included the users that didn't spend anything and have billions of points)... It's really not that many compared how much people need to spend for any form of collection, let alone multiple collections.

I've never found a frankencluck piece randomly. The only ones I've ever found randomly are the frankenpie pieces.

I think the change is great, but I it doesn't really effect me too much. It's almost impossible to get to the end of the crypts. I couldn't get there yesterday, even with the better odds. And in the five and a half years I've been on subeta I've only made it through twice. And one of those was another brief window where the crypts were a bit easier.

Impossible games on Subeta like the crypts, reflection (on hard), and the hustler have lost their appeal. Why should I waste my time with something I'm never going to win?

Actually as an avid book collector who's worked on it for many many years vs. speed collecting crash I can assure you I had 0 interest in paying more than 50m for this book c

Subeta makes too many impossible to obtain collectables to warrant doing anything other than staying afloat unless you have a desire to blow hundreds of dollars on a masochistic set you cannot complete. Right now there are two reflection books unobtainable in our current lifetime a cd book with a questionablt existing pricetag and one more that's 400m. I'm sure a bunch for the forum shop thing are in the works, too.

It's one thing to make people work for stuff, but it's another to make a handful of unobtainable things then expect someone to fork over millions to someone else who's just lucky.

Ps: the odds of making it through crypts is ridiculous. Allowing people to pick what they want to sell is hardly a bad idea when most people would use/keep what they pick c;

i'd be more excited about this change if making it to the end room wasn't some freakishly rare lightning-strike type of event, aka the kind of thing i could actually expect to happen to me. my reaction as is is just kind of "oh" because i can't really bring myself to care about a change to the system of prizes that i already know i'm never going to earn.

Yeah, agreed with everyone: the Cluck pieces were at the end only. And in the Crystal Shop once, where I got the left leg. I got the right leg twice yesterday, along with 10 million. The pie pieces are random. Though if the Cluck pieces become random, I'd also try crypts more often.

I sorta think this was a terrible idea, it basically devalues all the prizes. You're decreasing the rarity of every item by a factor of however many different prizes are possible. Some items need to be hard to get in order to maintain a high price tag and create a flow of large amounts of sP through the economy at a time. The journal of a lost explorer was a perfect example of this. Avid collectors would pay fortunes for it, the person who got lucky enough to win one suddenly gets a huge amount of sP and very likely spends it all over the place. But now the price will drop fairly drastically to just a few times higher than the least sought after items, which may still seem like a lot, is not sufficient to get that large amount of circulation like you would otherwise. Ending the random prizes in favour of prize shops just kinda hurts everyone in the long run.

Ugggh. I've never gotten through the crypts ever.. EVER.. I still hate it as much as that time it was involved in a plot. But a shop at the end is nice at least. I hope I can be lucky enough for once :I Even with these increased chances..
