Subeta Birthday Cake Contest!

Subeta's 10th birthday is coming up! Yay! Fanfare! What better time than now to host a site-wide contest? This birthday is a special one, and we're going to let you design some of the items for our celebration. This time, we want to see what kind of awesome Subeta-themed cakes you can bake. Red velvet cake, cheesecake, pound cake, cupcakes, you name it! Show us what kind of cake you'd like to see as one of the official celebration items, and the top three winners, as voted by our staff, will be drawn up and used as official items for our big day. Decorate them as elaborately as you'd like! Our top winners will receive 1500 CSC and a copy of their item!

Rule Breakdown:

Your cake must be edible and Subeta-themed. We're sure you have a ton of other creative resources, but we're hungry and want to see some real cakes!
You can use small non edible decorations like candles, but we wouldn't want to be slowed down too much if we were going to eat these cakes ourselves.
Include a description (500 characters or fewer) that you would want to be used for the on-site item should your cake win.

All entries must be submitted by August 31st. After our staff votes and the winners are determined, the items will be drawn up for our 10th anniversary!

I love to bake but don't know how to decorate and I start college again tomorrow and have 15 credit hours this semester. I won't be able to find the time, even if I had an idea... wish I could though! I look forward to seeing other cakes.

PS: THANKS, SUBETA TEAM for giving us all incentives to eat unhealthy for the next week or so... XD

I'd actually love to do this, but the end date is my sister's birthday, so I don't know if I could get two cakes done. Or if we'd eat them.

Ha Ha! I just made a Carrot and Mahi mahi birthday cake for my cat's 10th birthday. Too bad I didn't take any photos of it before he and his kitty friends decimated it.

Dude some of the best cakes Ive had are organic. All of the ones from my fav bakery dont use dye and such and they are amazing. Especially ones like carrot/almond crusted..etc So I dont think that should be a reason not to! I mostly cook that way myself. You just have to get creative. There are edible flowers and such out there to fancy things up if what you want is colour :]

MICROWAVE CAAAAAKES ! Just throwing that out there for those that are scared of their ovens ;) You can use beat juice (or fruit/other veggie juices) to dye cakes. Plain whipped cream can look amazing, too. It all depends on how you do it.

The problem is my family just had two birthdays so we're all like, "No more baked goods..." and several of my friends have problems with gluten. I'm sure it will be a huge hit at the nearby shelter.

Now I just need an idea what to make. Chocolate is always good

As someone who only eats organic/non-chemical foods... and lives in the South, I won't be participating in this (because 1. LOL OVEN XD and 2. without the use of dyes it would be so plain and simple) HOWEVER.

I just wanna say that I really hope enters and is allowed to place because her RAINBOW CAKE is legendary and I would love to see what she'd come up with-- I feel the staff favortism shouldn't apply here because of obvious culinary reasons xD

i'm up for this. I owe a friend or two cake anyway... just have to figure out how to decorate.... does the cake have to look like one from the site or just has to be subeta-themed? (Ie the mask contest had to make a mask similar to one already on the site). marshmallow fondant here I come!

Far, you can make fondant at home instead of spending money on it :P I watched a pastry chef demonstrate making fondant from scratch for a Home Ec class in high school (he made a turtle with it). Much cheaper!

With this crowd, you won't have any difficulties finding a hungry cake-lover. But it's sweet that you're gonna give it to a homeless shelter, I'm sure you'll make a lot of people happy with your cake.

Ohhh!! Love this idea. I love baking but I know it's not feasible for me to join this time. Can we all see the pictures of the entries? I would love that! Also...one of my favorite subeta-versary items is always the cupcakes. I hope there'll be cupcakes too!!!! :D
