BATTLE OF THE BANDS FINALS!

Well, they're finally here! Holy Oracle there were a lot of entries. I actually had to work! At least some of you had the foresight to give me a good chuckle. Or maybe that was just accidental. Either way, good work, everyone that entered!

We've narrowed the finalists down, and have 6 finalists for each genre. Unfortunately, we had to cancel the R&B/Soul genre as there were so few entries, entrants from that category were moved into the 'Other' category to be judged. (I guess Subeta has no soul! Or rhythm. I'm sure we have plenty of Blues)

Now, to find our Grand Champion, the bands are going to need some support. This is where you guys come in! Have a look through our Finalist Showdown and pick your favourite band, the one you want to support right to the bitter end. That's the band you're going to be battling for! And how do you battle, I hear you ask in wonder? Well, you need to play Street Team of course! Woah! Much game! Very battle!

For now, scores can't be sent - we want to give you a chance to pick out your favorite bands and get familiar with the game for a few hours first. But starting from around noon tomorrow you will be able to start sending scores - and each score sent will go towards your chosen bands total! Users can send 3 scores per day - or 4 if they have a Gold Account. VIP users' scores count for 25% extra towards their total! (So, a score of 20 will give you 25 points!)

Now, prizes. There are going to be a variety - but seeing as you guys continually impress us with your skills, we haven't yet decided exactly how they're going to be distributed. There will likely be prize(s) for the winner of each genre, and then the grand champion will be rewarded - along with all the people that supported the grand champions band. There will also separately be prizes for users that submit the highest scores, so even if you are in a team that maybe aren't doing so well - you can still work hard and achieve something on your own! The Grand Champion band will get to work with us on designing some items, so all prizes will be awarded after Peka-Boo has come to an end. Score-sending will end on Monday 28th, again around about noon so that we can tally up the scores and announce the winners in the evening!

Every one of you could be instrumental in getting a band to victory. So pick who you want to support, and stand by them! Yeesh, that was a lot of information. I'm going back to my tent.

i probably cant post twice in a row but i am angered still so i will you dont off 33 flavors of ice cream and decide after the offer NOGT to offer van illa cause not enough wanted it..YOU picked the catagories I picked R-n-B..i did NOT choose "duh"others..shame on you for not letting the r n b bands have a winner amopngst themselves or giving us a chance to change genre to what IS actually willy niily available by staffers!!!!! It's probably too late now but in regards to the advertisements being sent, I thought that was against the rules? "Do Not Send Advertisements Do not send any unsolicited advertisements to another user via the mail system, comments, forum pings, etc. These include -- but may not necessarily be limited to -- advertisements for shops, cults, items available for sale/trade, and wishlisted items." Site rules out the window with this then? :)

Kind of annoyed that I put a lot of time in on my vacation for our band to not make the cut. The bands that made it are amazing, and I don't begrudge them, but it's upsetting that I (and I'm sure many others) spent a ton of time perfecting our band to basically be told we get nothing for all that effort. I mean, a "hey you entered" SOMETHING would at least make all that time spent mean something.

I'm glad to see so many of my friend's bands made it and plan on supporting them, but it's sort of time completely lost for, as you said yourself, 400+ users.

Staff has said that just by clicking on a band that you support you earns points for them,You don't have to play the game,Your presence earns points too if you find the game difficult.

: A band does not need to have five or six people to be regarded as a band. I fail to see how the bands with less members are automatically less deserving. That is such a rude thing to say. Why should the number of people in a band matter? A few of my favorite bands irl have only two people.

I managed to score 351 and I am tempted to let the window open until we can submit our scores for real because no way in hell I can make these numbers again my hand HURTS

As for the battle of the bands itself, I knew it was an avatar contest type thing from day one because if it was something to do with actual music making it would be an EXTREMELY limiting activity, I for one know jack shit about music, I think most people don't, so that would have been a bit sad for most of the population

Okay, with over 400 entries, I can see why this would come down to a staff decision but I'm still not comfortable with it. I feel like some of the more creative bands got shoved unfairly out of the way for those less deserving... and no offense, but a duet of skeletons should NOT have made the finals. Every other band is 3+ members strong and even three seems too few, imo. Also, I love how this is a "battle of the bands" but basically, it boils down to a costume and creative writing contest. XD Perhaps next time you guys could have an actual synthesizer so people can actually make music to go along with their bands? If we ever see this event again, that is. :/

As for the game, it's not... impossible but I don't know how well it'll serve the voting process. With costume contests, it was anonymous unless someone wore their costume on the forums. With this, I don't see how it'll stop from being a popularity contest and the inclusion of both GA and VIP advantage, just skews this contest even further.

Congrats to all the bands that made the finals! :)

As for the way to vote for your favorite band, I wonder why the staff decided that playing a flash game that has awkward controls was a good idea. It's not. People who don't have flash gaming skills won't have much of a say in voting. There's one instance of voting inequality.

Not only that, but the gold account and VIP members have score boosts. That's not fair to have an "elitist" group have more of a say in voting. Sure, a regular user can be awesome at the game, but they don't get the voting perks the "elite" group has. It just would be fair if no one had those voting perks.

I got the promotional candy, too, and thought it was cute! It definitely got me to check out the band itself. I think I like some other bands more, but it definitely made them stick out. It was creative and fun and I don't mind it at all! It's fun to get random messages/gifts like that. :)

Wow all the bands look amazing :). I can't get the game to load all the way. It shows a black box with a white bar that loads two thirds of the way and then stops. Maybe it will load later on today ^_^.

I think this was only ever explained on the forums somewhere, but the Alternative category when submitting was not actually like Alternative bands, it was an Other category, it was changed to Other in the finals
