Custom Wearable Competition!

Have you been itching to have your wearable on site as a real official Subeta item? Applications are now open for those wishing to compete and display their fashion design skills during the upcoming Peka-Boo festival! Winners will have their item released as an official piece of Subeta art, and sold alongside our other official items in the Peka-Boo Fashion stalls in the SP currency.

Due to space limitations, you may submit a maximum of three items per user that will be shown before a panel of judges behind the scenes - including well known fashion icon Esmerelda, the designers Delish, Camilo, and more! Five winners will be chosen by our judges, but we are leaving the 6th winner up to you! The fan favorite of the competition will also be released as an official item!

You have until 1pm on the 16th of July to get your items submitted. At that point, we'll put up a gallery of every item that has been approved as being up to Subeta standards in order for you guys to pick your favorite. The item that gets the most votes will be the 6th item put into Peka-Boo's stalls.

Hopefully the next announcement is something everyone can participate in.. it's kind of annoying that so far, this event is centered around needing money. I get it, I'm broke too but shit.

I don't think there needs to be recolors. There are a lot of single-color subeta official items (all of the subq lines, for example). I think the rules now are fine, from what I understand the winning items will be going to a Peka Boo shop for the event and not like a Clothing Rack style shop.

I have a feeling there will be a lot of items submitted and the likeliness of the same item in two diff colors to be chosen are very slim.

So, I have a suggestion: have the winners give a possibility of two recolors. YES I AM HUNG UP ON THIS. But it sort of seems like a waste, or a possibility of a waste. Say someone uploads two items, a brunette wig and a blonde wig. Both get picked. Two of the exact same thing, instead of a completely different design (which would broaden the possible amount of sales + interest). And by contrast, what if the brunette is picked but more people would prefer it in blonde. By picking a design and letting the artists know "hey, you can do a possibility of two more colors" they can go and do a brunette, blonde, and ginger, and still leave the site open to picking more designs in the end.

Quick note: By no means do I think they wouldn't deserve two of their items to be picked, even if they are simple recolors. They very clearly would deserve it. But doing something like this would make it easier on the staff picking. So they wouldn't have to go "well, this color, or this color... Or both and leave out the rest."

Maybe someone can answer this for me. When it comes to CW's do they get redrawn to fit the site better? Everyone has a style for when they draw and sometimes trying to fit a theme or style that you are not used it isn't easy.

As much I can draw, I think trying to make sure my cws look like current subeta style is probably far away from my level yet. (maybe if it was 2006-2008 subeta style I would have a better chance) Alas, Lindsay's revamp is just gorgeous. Still waiting for the day when the Beanbag and Atebus shops get their own shopkeepers though.

Oh thanks for the reply dannica! I sort of wish that wasnt an option. But I guess it will help those who arent great at site art. I do think it would be fun to have a contest where people sketch ideas, then a sub artist recreates it in the style of sub/makes it a finished product. It would give those who dont have csc for commission/people not great at art a chance :] Maybe that could happen in the future.

Either way, excited to see what is going on. And am so pumped face items can be made.

I don't have any comment on the custom wearable competition, but I do have to say I love the NPC's revamp. I never even noticed that she had tan lines in her old image until I saw the old and new images side by side.

I wish there was an option to enter drawings instead of CWs and then if a drawing won, a site artist would make the item. I don't have enough money to commission anyone and I'm no good at CWs myself. Still, I'm excited to see what comes out of this.

Maybe people didn't notice it as much, but she had the same tan lines before, but now the character is darker and it shows more.
