Featured Game: Balloon Sweeper!

Today's featured game brings us back to Ziara. Can you clear the hangar without setting off a stink bomb in Balloon Sweeper? If you can manage that feat, there are EPICon points in it for you! And if you're careful enough to clear it on the hard setting, you can earn additional bonus points!

As always, you can continue to revisit any combination of our EPICon games to earn up to 70 regular EPICon points a day!

I love minesweeper, and I'm pretty great at it. However, I'm having the same problem as some others, there are definitely bombs where there shouldn't be based on the numbers.

Just got my 70 points for today. I suck at minesweeper so I didn't bother trying to get bonus points but I'm still proud as heck I got through 10 games even if they were "easy." :D

Yes, I love minesweeper!

Unfortunately, the game itself seems a bit glitchy. I beat the game on hard but clicking "send score" did nothing. I couldn't click "reset" either. I ended up having to X out of the window and start a new game. I'm not sure what the problem was (maybe it's because I made the screen bigger by using the ctrl + mouse scroll trick?) but I'm crossing my fingers that it won't happen again.

: It keeps happening to me over and over. I am not fantastic at this game but I normally can play it decently. I haven't been able to finish a single one because of this. There are bombs in places where they shouldn't, so many 1 suddenly have 2 bombs instead of one. Its annoying!

So very very mad that I got "Huge Mistake" before checking the achievements.

So ridiculously un-intuitive that you have to submit that :c

Minesweeper is the worst game ever but i manged to get the bonus points. still mad as hell that you cant get more than 70 regular points per day now though. why the hell would you punish people who want to spend more time and effort on subeta... its really counter intuitive... I know that this epicon is pretty much just a way to showcase the new (and old) games but some of us like to be super competitive and get all that we can out of it and the more limits we have the less fun we have =(

Is it possible the game is a bit off? Twice now I've clicked on bombs that shouldn't be there based upon the numbers.

If the game is too small, zoom your browser in. Should be ctrl + on firefox, or hold ctrl and move your mouse wheel up. (for other methods I forget, sorry, but all browsers should have a zoom option)

like 95% of the time you can logically figure out where the bombs are. sometimes however there are times where there's no possible way you can know; you just have to guess.

Huh, that's weird. I got all my bonus points and I never had to guess, as far as I can remember. Sometimes I felt like I had to, but then I went back and checked more carefully, and there was always a logical deduction I could make without guessing.

Typically I open half the board with two guesses, deduce all the ones I can, then... I'm forced to make another guess to move forward, in which I always trip a bomb. Is the trick just being lucky enough to not find a bomb at that point? If so, I don't think I have the patience to get the bonus points today. Pro tips plz.

I love minesweeper, and don't really have a problem even on hard, so I managed to get all the bonus points in about an hour last night. But I do agree with what many others have said, this game is a little hard on the eyes.

I thought I would hate this, but it actually gave my brain a nice challenge! Got all my bonus points. ^_^ I do wish the board was easier to read though, I had to zoom all the way in on hard in order to see anything.

If it's too hard to see the board just play it on easy. You can still get points but just not the bonus ones, but that's still better than nothing. Also easy is pretty easy and sometimes it pops all the balloons except for the bombs for you.

Also, can we right click to mark the bombs instead? Holding shift and click is rather awkward and I'm always afraid of accidentally letting go of Shift when I don't mean to

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by MapleRose

I love minesweeper! Though without the left+right click to clear effected groups it makes it harder lol

I kinda wish the font of the numbers was something more readable though. Also, after you pop a balloon, I kinda wish the popped balloon went away instead of showing up as a popped group; I mean it's a neat idea, but it makes it hard to see which balloons you cleared and which ones you haven't and just makes it more cluttered

I like this game, but the balloons are so tiny it gives me burning eyes! I'd prefer a lighter and less cluttered background too, it would be much more fun to play without getting a blurry vision after awhile.

for those who are unsure how to play the game: click any square...if you hit a mine, restart the game...if a number is revealed, for example a 1, it's basically telling you that there is 1 mine located in one of the eight adjacent squares immediately surrounding that square...ie one of the adjacent squares contains a hidden mine, but seven do not...you have to avoid clicking on the square with the mine in it...sometimes it's obvious where the mine is going to be as clicking on one square can sometimes reveal a number of safe (number) squares, but at other times you pretty much have to guess and keep your fingers crossed...!!...the whole point of the game is for you to reveal all the squares that don't have mines in them whilst leaving the mines unexploded...

yeah I wish they'd tell us how many bombs there were, too. hard is really freakin hard; I'm gonna need a little extra help if I'm to win 10 games of them.

Another game? Oh no! Yes I love having so many games to play, but honestly I don't like the pressure of having to try and play as many as possible for points. It's totally impossible for me to play 100 games every evening when I get home from work so I have to pick the few that I like the best. Which means I feel like I'm losing tons of points. Just wish there was a better way to do this.

I love this game, it was a little hard to adjust at first, but I'm practically blind and got thru hard no problem. I appreciate your changing the games up so some days we get those bonus points and some days we don't - depending on our own special abilities. I prefer the mind games more than the squish/catch/shoot games.

I LOVE Minesweeper, but this game? Not so much.

  1. Why do you have to beat it on hard in order to get your bonus points? That kind of sucks.
  2. Like others have said, the colors/differentiation/etc... Meh.
  3. Why no instructions? I know how to play, but others may not understand. I've known quite a few people who didn't think the numbers meant anything, and knowing what they mean can help a lot.
  4. Why is there nowhere that tells you how many stink bombs there are on your level?

Wow, you guys managed to mess up minesweeper. Good going.

Like many others said, the graphics do not work well with this game. Minesweeper is supposed to be simple, so please, keep it simple, this is making my eyes bleed. Why are there different coloured balloons? Totally unneccessary, and just makes the game even more of an eyesore. You guys managed to use different colours for something stupid, but you did not use it for something that is actually helpful - the numbers. The different colours on the numbers help to make a fast judgement while playing, at least for the experienced player.

Basically, everything needs to be easier to differentiate at just a single glance. The numbers, the intact balloons and the popped ballons are just a big mess right now. This really is a shame, since I like to play minesweeper.

There is also another obvious issue, and that it that you can click on a bomb on the first click. You can also get something like a single number, which isn't helpful. The first click should give a batch of numbers. This isn't the worst issue though, since you can just keep restarting the game until you get something you can work with. Very annoying though.

This game is really painful on my eyes even when I zoom in a bunch, which is a pity, because I love minesweeper. If only the popped balloons were more differentiated for the non popped ones. Still gonna play, but I wish this game would be redesigned to make things easier to see.
