Survival Memorial Opened!

The anniversary of the Great Pandemic approaches, and that means that it is once again time to honor the departed and celebrate our own survival of the diseases that have taken so many people over the last 4 years. Don't forget to offer your thoughts to those that passed by laying flowers at, or offering a kiss to, the Survival Memorial in Centropolis.

In positive news, this bittersweet occasion has taken a new turn: The Center of Infectious Disease is proud to announce that a vaccine has passed through all clinical trials, and has been released publicly. While it will not cure those already infected, this vaccine should prevent any further infections from occurring.

Perhaps we can finally put this tragedy, and those that lost their lives to it, to rest.

The thing with the flowers is the same as every other year. The flower name needs to have the word "Memorial" in it.

omg i don't think this is an end to the zombie strains! however, i have an idea. vaccines are usually made using the actual live/dead virus that is being made into a vaccine to introduce it safely to the body's immune system so it will recognize it in the future and be capable of preventing an infection. in this case, the vaccine was most likely created using (a) strain(s) of the pre-existing viruses. therefore, what if the vaccines somehow were created improperly, or there was an unknown flaw, and instead the vaccine rather infected those who were vaccinated; bringing back old strains!

i think that would be neat.

I figure maybe this is starting later because Ecks and Skitters were arguing about what to write in their letter. In other news, I do not trust these people. I just keep remembering that last year it seemed like someone was behind the scenes pulling the strings to get the two sides to spread distrust and get the two sides to wipe each-other out. And the fake viruses, too (was that last year or the year before? I can't remember... Two years ago, wasn't it?)

Okay, so... the event is supposed to start in the middle of February. We're already a day over that, and they've officially announced in the news that they will announce it's starting LATER? Seriously? This is the shortest month of the year, it's not exactly nice to waste time like this for an event with a set stop-point.

It's probably because the new flowers officially released yet in the news.

The idea of having a vaccine sounds interesting, I wonder what it will entail? Even though the event hasn't officially started yet, I'm glad to see something about it in the news.

I don't think the news post is saying that there won't be any new strains this year. I think the news post is meant to let us know that pandemic will be starting soon, since its had an unusually late start (compared to previous years). My guess is that the vaccine has some unusual side effects that cause people to mutate somehow. I believe during last year's plot there was talk about developing a zombie vaccine so that people could avoid being infected if they wanted to.

Is the vaccine made from a live virus? Are the needles all sterilized?

I'm super concerned that they're trying to say no new zombie strains this year. If that is the case, I will cry because this and masquerade are tied for my favorite events on this site and I also want to see if our new artists are doing strains!

- a really sweet item, but the Survival Memorial refuses to accept it. Gives me that "Oh No! You don't have a survival flower to lay down at the memorial. You can find them in Seedlings!" thing. Is it a glitch?
