Just found out from Hellhound on this thread: http://www.subeta.net/forums/goto/21084108 that they CAN be kept! I haven't seen any floating around but thought I'd post it here so you could see. So sorry for being wrong earlier. I seen a Minimod post to stop collecting them so I thought that was the official word.

Yea...found this post after getting the achievement. Made a ticket, so hopefully they'll take the Achievement from me, since I got it when it was supposed to have been retired ._.

Well, I won't be missing them any time soon: Searching for: 2013 Survival Bag- 423 items found in total! They just wouldn't leave me alone after I opened all that I needed. I could have stopped clicking but it's like a compulsion, I see one I have to pick it up.

And to add to the other comments: One popped up just as I got on here. Right on the news page.
