Steamwork Endeavor

If you've ever been worried about the weapons programming in your endeavor, we at Yun Enterprises have been able to replace that with Yunium Ore allowing you to have a friendly steamwork endeavor! Bring me a set of the appropriate plans and other supplies, and I will be more than happy to craft one for you.

Unfortunately, I'm one of the users who can't tell limb from limb on this pet. I still think its excellent art, and when I focus hard enough I do appreciate the anatomy on it, but I also find it too cluttered, at least for my tastes.

I like a bit of clutter in the Steamworks pets, but this one's anatomy has suffered for it. It's face looks broken and I don't even know where the tails(s?) are coming from. >_o

I've been waiting for this one, but it's definitely not what I'd hoped for, so I'm going to pass.

Oh my gosh!

And to think that a few days ago, I was thinking how cool it would be if there was a Steamworks Endeavor. And bam! We have one now! It's official. I now have a favorite Steamworks pet!

But no, I'm keeping my Endeavor Reborn. :P But now I can see myself breaking my "one specie each only" principle. X3

; That's because we can actually see what they are. The limbs are quite different from the endeavors and are often colored differently from the body. With the way the limbs are built, it's sort of hard to see where the far arm and leg is, ESPECIALLY with the thigh/wing fingers being the same color. Or the shoulder. I really have no idea what that is on the far right. With everything all crammed in the little box like that, it's really hard for some people to make out.

I really don't know what's up with people saying the Steamworks pets are too cluttered lately. I mean, they contraption built from scraps and gears and small parts...all of them have had a similar look about them. I can see what everything is supposed to be and I think the wings especially and the little trails of steam are fantastic.

But really, all the people calling "cluttered" over and over again the last few releases need to take a look at the anyu, archan, hikei, or lain. Those pets are all just as detailed and I don't recall such an outcry of "I can't see what anything iiiiis" for those pets.

Very pretty, even if the poor thing looks a bit cluttered in the box. The creepy thing is that I was thinking about what a Steamwork Endeavor might look like just last night. xD

This vaguely reminds me (not visually, but in the concept) of Bender's "downgrade" in that one Futurama episode. Just as awesome-looking, too.

The detail to it is great, don't get me wrong, I can tell a lot of effort was put into this.. but it's.. kinda cluttered; hard to make out what's going on exactly.

Why are there two tails, and the face has that weird strip across its beak, making its face look flat like a monkey. If the beak was solid gold, the second tail was gone, and the wings were, idk, raised? It would look A LOT less cluttered.

What happened to the colors? The full size is just bright and lively. But, this version is just too dark and washed out.

Hagane! You need to fight for this one! Also, if you'd remove the extra muffler on the right side of the pet, you'd fix the 2 tail issue.

I think the big, huge, glaring issue here for me is there is a such thing as too much detail. It just kinda' looks like a blob of metal and gears, noticed this with the last pet too. Just throwing my opinion out here too. Not going to tear in to it because it's good art, but disappointing in many ways as well.

The artwork itself is nice, but I can't make out anything but a single wing and the head (not sure how the face is actually formed). What is the thing sticking out on the bottom left under the wing?

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Nail

this is... really hard to see? it's very well done shading/detail wise but .. the wing is really the only thing that pops out to me.. everything else is just a guess.

It looks gorgeous! I'm always amazed by the details in the steamwork pets :)

I understand why the limbs are forced to overlap each other since there's really no room to have them sticking out when the pet fills up the canvas. Of course, this allows for the details to be seen easier.

I really love this one. I personally don't think it's hard to make out what's what, but I must admit the head confused me for a second until I saw the larger version. I didn't see the rest of the metal that goes over the nose that is under that thing wrapped around it so I thought the muzzle was too short, but now I see it easily.

The full size looks great, but I don't think the perspective and the way it looks jumbled do it any justice in the smaller image...

I would say you may need to tweak some things about it, but overall, the details are fantastic.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Oakley
User Avatar

Wow o.o All I see is pile of metal with... maybe a wing. I can't see a pet in that image at all.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Echo_818
User Avatar

With the larger image, I can see the tail curving now. It probably would've been better to have the tip of the tail more perpendicular or curving around towards the front, instead of an awkward stub, and the one spike where the tail curves doesn't help the perspective much. Also is the right wing (our left) supposed to be coming forward or backward?

The more I study it, the more I like it, especially the details on the face and legs, but the tail and right wing are off-putting enough that it still throws me.

Ooh, the fullsize version really helps clarify, thanks!

Hominid - I think that's the end of its tail, where there are spines on the normal Endeavor colors. It looks like the tail arcs around behind the Endeavor to our right and curves back closer toward the viewer at the left, so what you're looking at is the end of the tail. I could be wrong, though. x:

I'm not arguing that it isn't. xD'; I'm just saying that it's all really hard to make out and where the tail pokes out is at a little bit of a strange angle compared to the rest of it, so it looks like an entirely different tail all together. The detailing is nice, it's just that with everything that's going on, it's insanely difficult to make anything out.

The art is very nice, but I'm having a hard time making this one out. The feet look like it should be in motion (the left is higher up than the tail which I assume is resting on the ground, which looks odd to me), but little else does, and the hand on my right looks... maybe backwards? Maybe? I'm not entirely sure what is going on with the face either. I also have no idea what that is coming out of the left-leg area, unless it's a very odd propeller thing that seems out of place. Could someone maybe post an outline/simplified inking for clarifying?

I like this, but not what I was expecting in terms of clarity, and I think I'll be waiting to change my endeavor over just yet.

I'm having some trouble telling where everything is and how it's shaped, but the shading is gorgeous all the same, especially on that coppery color. The black strip across the top part of the snout is what threw me off the most at first, but I see what it is now. The metal crest on the top of the head is particularly pretty. :D

The tail does curve around! There is only one. Follow it from where it comes out of the backside, down behind the foot on our right, then it goes behind the body and comes out on our left side. Just one tail!

Here is the full size, for anyone curious!

Also, I'm not sure what someone referred to as a vase? A little stumped on that one, there are definitely no vases involved! ;)

No other endeavor has a tail that long, though. o__O And with the spike the same as the end of the tail and with the rest of it obscured by exhaust (I assume?), it looks like two different tails, especially with the angle the end curling back sticks out at.

8C I just realized that there's an entire endeavor head UNDER the endeavor mask-thing. Seems like the guys at Yun enterprises got sort of lazy and just ripped the limbs off the endeavor, wrapped the rest up in what looks like leather straps, made the rest of it and called it a day.
