It's a lot more realistic than the other, but I think the wings should be fluffier since it is angelic. But then again it is a water animal so maybe the wings got wet...

Fantasy or not, I've noticed subeta trying to go for a more realistic turn lately.

That, and I've read some of the critiques that people wrote here, and I honestly think you guys should stop "defending the artist", because there is nothing to defend them from. The critiques were all pretty darn helpful, and not offensive or rude at all.

Yes, I know, I probably shouldn't be speaking for the artist sense I'm not them, but as an artist myself, I find well written critiques quite helpful in the long run.

I think it would be interesting if its flippers were turned into wings or something, as if it was still swimming, but swimming in the sky. It's expression is very cute though in my opinion. It seems to be so happy^^

re: artistic license, that argument is bullshit. there's a difference between detailing something differently and getting anatomy wrong. it's just as bad as the tired "durp durp don't need anatomy it's my style!!!!" argument.

look, bro, you can give your creature as many outlandish unrealistic things as you want, but that won't stop me from going "okay if this is how they're supposed to be, how the hell does it work???" and then you going "IT'S ARTISTIC LICENSE" as an awful excuse.

I'm not criticizing this pet, just that argument because I think it's flimsy. honestly, though, I think it'd be cool of the swampie still only swam. it'd be kinda cute that way.

It isn't the extent of the "corrections" you think the artwork needs, it's the fact that you think there should be any corrections whatsoever. If an artist intends for a creatures wings to look a certain way, no matter how believable or incorrect you think it is, they have every reason to follow through with their vision. Artistic license.. Just because it doesn't make sense to you, doesn't mean the artist should be afraid to do it. Not to mention, who's to say the wings are even USED to fly. Perhaps they're a vestigial structure, and the Angelic Swampie only swims.

Kudos to the artist for a good job.That being said I will have to say this is one of the few re draws I dont care for.While I do think it is nicely done and more in style with the rest of the site and the pose is good but the wings are a bit odd.

I knew someone was going to get on my case about it being a "pretend creature", therefore criticizing it's wings would be pointless. If you read my comment I mentioned that I'm not asking for the wings to look as perfect as a photograph, but there are flaws which could be fixed to create a better, more believable and realistic creature. Just because a creature isn't real doesn't mean it shouldn't have believable features. I don't care if you want it's wings to be upside down and bend backwards, at least show proper anatomy as to how something like that would fit together. If I were to use an example I'd mention the new Avatar movie by James Cameron. That film is full of crazy alien creatures, but they didn't simply draw up the creatures with 6 legs and say "It works because they're aliens". Now obviously this is just a pet site and creatures are going to be cartoony and fudged a little in the anatomy department, but completely disregarding proper wing structure because it's "not a real animal" is just silly. Whoever drew this picture is obviously a very talented artist and wings are something that's very hard to get right. I'm only offering my opinion and critique, I don't expect this drawing to be changed at all but hopefully in the future the artist will improve on drawing wings.

Also, think about Bees. Logically, they shouldn't be able to fly due to the wing to size ratio of them. BUT THEY DEFY LOGIC.

I honestly love Swampies, because they're dinosaur-ish. The only reason I do not own is because I have not thought of a character design to fit or a color I liked. I am really loving this Angelic one, though~! <33

Criticizing the wing anatomy of a FICTIONAL creature is akin to criticizing JK Rowling for the wing to mass ratio of a Hippogriff. If someone INVENTS a creature, who can say it doesn't look exactly how it should.

Beautiful. I agree with the wings though. They are a bit odd, but I do understand what the look the wings are going for. The wings look like that when a bird banks to the left or right. The right wing looks more better, if that was the intended pose, than the left one. This is all my opinion, though. Who ever drew this is very talented and I envy them!

I'm not a big fan of the Swampie, but it does look very majestic in this pose. Everything looks great, except for those odd wings. They could have gone in a much better pose, since the canvas is so open and the wings look like they're flopping about unsynchronized. The feathers are very random too, I honestly don't see anything about the wings that shows proper knowledge of wing anatomy. I'm not saying the wings need to look perfect, but the basic arm and wing structure should be visible. I don't want to sound too critical, being a pet artist myself I know the work that goes into making these things, I just think this one could use some improvement.
