we do not know a lot about the upcoming update, but we do know that some weapons will not be useable by certain pets based on their level. A more cautious approach would be to wait until it comes out to buy the The Ether to make sure that Offline could handle it.

I don't see why the Rainbow Vortex would stop being a 100% blocker.
