I was under the impression that you could only get current (restockable) items from the Mystery Box.

Yep! If they stocked at the holiday shop, they're fair game, I think.

Oh, okay. I just "bought" (I guess is the correct term? I keep wanting to say vended, but that's not right) an and wanted to make sure it wasn't busted or something. I've never purchased something that had already retired from there.

I think it says in its description that you can pull retired items out of it sometimes :)
