Hello! Anyone else a fantasy & sci fi fan? For the last few years, I've tried to read all the Hugo nominees and see if I can guess who will win the award before it's announced.

Here is the nominee list for this year. I usually follow the Storygraph reading challenge definition of "read all the nominees" (found here) which treats the 6 nominees for novel, novella, novelette, and short story as required, then the rest of the categories are bonus. I had already read three of the novels and four of the novellas for this year when the final ballot was announced, now I've read another novel, and I'm aiming to read the rest before the convention happens later this summer.

So far my rankings for novels are:

1. The Everlasting by Alix E. Harrow
2. A Drop of Corruption by Robert Jackson Bennett
3. The Incandescent by Emily Tesh (big gap)
4. The Raven Scholar by Antonia Hodgson

Novellas ranking is probably:

1. The Summer War by Naomi Novik
2. What Stalks the Deep by T. Kingfisher
3. The River Has Roots by Amal El-Mohtar
4. Automatic Noodle by Annalee Newitz (but novella ranking was really hard for me! I liked all of the ones I've read so far)

Have you read any of these? Are you a WorldCon member/will you be voting on the Hugos? What are your thoughts?

I love fantasy and sci-fi but I've never paid too much attention to the Hugo Award, I have to admit. I also don't have as much time to read as I'd like. T_T

I did read The Summer War though. That was pretty good. I like Naomi Novik other than I'm really not into romance and her stuff always has a bit of romance (never overwhelming though which is why I can handle it).
