A lot of the newer achievements that have been added are being given descriptions that are not entirely helpful in figuring out what exactly you are meant to do to obtain them, and not everyone is keeping up with all of the updates to know which games are being tinkered with.
Also, I feel like all of the game achievements should at least mention somewhere in the description what game they are for. This would make it easier to use the search function to find the relevant achievements you may still need for different games. Right now, if the game is not mentioned in the description or title it may not show up when you try searching for it, so you have to either browse through the whole games section/your saved achievements or try to remember the specific name of the achievement.
Yes, I noticed this too and definitely feel like it's a step backwards from the way achievements were written before. Like said, it makes the achievements both harder to find & harder to figure out. Also, when you read all the new achievements in a row, it's a little, well... uncanny, let's just say that. I really don't feel like the quippiness is necessary at all.
Also, a small thing about the new achievement page layout: I don't think pink for achievements you have completed/items you have is intuitive, because pink is close to red which is more commonly used for things you haven't completed.
I agree. Many of the descriptions are not helpful in knowing how to earn the achievement, and the cutesiness is more cringey than it is clever. The old, to-the-point descriptions like "Get a score of x" or "Win x number of games" are a lot more useful.
An example of a better one of the newer descriptions is "Clear an entire chapter of Angrybeard's expedition without missing a single shot" because it explains what should be done, and isn't snarky. (Except I have no idea what game it's referring to, especially since the image for the achievement is broken.)
In contrast, "The cold doesn't bother you anymore. Mostly because you can't feel anything" is not informative at all, which makes the jokey description especially annoying (and the only reason I know that it's for the ice fields is because of the image; otherwise again, I'd have no clue).
I so fully agree on all this! When I wanted to check my achievements (if they had been corrected) I was tempted to make a topic myself. How are we supposed to search for the achievement, when it does not include the activity name?!
