Hello! I've been playing for a few weeks, so might as well drop in and say hi! My name's Tilde (he/she only please!), and I was mildly interested in Subeta in middle/high school but never really got around to actually joining until recently. I happened to rediscover an old text document I made in middle school with a bunch of dream pets and names for them after the virtual pet site bug bit me again, and after spending like. An entire weekend deciphering them, I decided to bite the bullet and join! Still figuring out my overarching goals beyond "actually put together character concepts for my pets" lol, but I've been enjoying it here so far!

Outside of here, some of my main passions include art, writing, gaming, and voice acting/dubbing & fancasting, especially the last one! I'm VERY pasionate about VO, and love making fancasts for my OCs! My characters will have voiceclaims in like ten different languages and that is a threat /j. Glad to be here!

Welcome!

What do you like to write?

At the moment? Mainly trying to write fic, but I've been floating in and out of some creative burnout so I've mainly gone smaller scale. Mainly just like, making quick character summaries for my OCs and mock lore bibles for my smaller-scale projects.

Genre-wise? I'm a sucker for big, epic fantasy adventures with long, sprawling narratives. Everything I make is pretty much guaranteed to have fifty million OCs and whatever I think is cool at the moment lol.

It's good that you're still doing writing.

What fandom(s)? I'm currently stuck in a Skyrim rut. Big trilogy I'm working on is Skyrim/Remedy Connected Universe since those are my big hyperfixations at the moment XD

Part two is linked in my siggy.

I am horrible with making up character names so I like having as few characters as possible. If I can avoid naming characters I do that. I do end up writing expansive stories whether I want to or not. Just seems like destiny XD

I tend to like to write sci-fi and fantasy. Everything I write is romance. Though drabbles sometimes lack any romance. I find drabbles nice to explore ideas that I just don't have time to fully flesh out or just wouldn't work in a full story.

Skylanders, mainly. The series has been ingrained in my DNA since I was twelve and I've been desperate to get the epic lengthy fic I've been developing since about the same time to fruition, and I will do it if it kills me, dang it! I actually really enjoy naming characters, in part because I have a SI in name etymology, but I can definitely understand the struggle with finding good names lol, and I'm definitely in the same boat. One minute I get a plot bunny, the next, it spirals! Also, the skyrim fic sounds cool! (Insert handshake meme but it's us writing fics for media with Sky in the title lol)

I do wanna try my hand at writing romances more, but I find that to be a big struggle. I guess I'm very action and plot oriented, and finding good ways to integrate relationship development in the midst of all the big fight scenes and pivotal plot developments and balance that with everything else is a lot for me to juggle. I suppose that mean I should get some drabbles done, then 8P.

Good luck with getting your fic out. Sometimes the best things take time.

My crossover fic I'm working on had humble beginnings. One longer than normal drabble and I thought I could start writing fics again. I had stopped due to severe vertigo limiting my writing and deciding to focus on getting my original series out.

So I decided a new way to write fics with less of a focus on chapter length. To try it out I decided on writing a crack!fic and thought if I could finish it I would finish up some of my older fics. Then while writing the crack!fic I started working on a serious fic with the same crossover in mind. Then that one serious fic turned into a trilogy.

The plot bunnies held me hostage XD

The trick of doing any long project is to pace yourself.

I'm a very character focused writer. So I look at characters before the plot. The plot has to serve the characters. So I'm still able to have tense battles while having the romance being the heart of everything.

Working on small romantic drabbles would help. They don't take that long and you're able to work things out easier.

Thanks for the tips! Yeah, I definitely understand the feeling. Mine are currently swarming my door demanding their carrots lol.

Can def understand the fic thing because that's happened to me plenty of times. I'd start out with a small thing for kicks and giggles, but then I had so much fun working with it that it kind of spiraled lol. Good luck with your writing!

Welcome :)

Yeah, plot bunnies are basically committing war crimes and no one notices! I just wanted to write a small silly fic! Why couldn't they let me!

Thanks and good luck with yours :)

Exactly! Those little devils! I just wanted to toss some characters and a brief plot description out there to rotate for fun and now I have IDEAS!

And of course! Writers need all the luck in the world :P

Have you ever played Soma?

I haven't! I don't usually play a lot of horror games because I'm pretty sensitive to that. My taste tends to skew more towards platformers and RPGs, but usually nowadays it's been low-maintenance pet sites because that tends to be the only thing I have energy for.

I play the Safe Mode on Soma so I don't have to worry about constantly avoiding monsters and dying. Though there are some monsters you will encounter. You can die in Safe Mode but you tend to have to REALLY work for it xD

One day I've promised to play off of Safe Mode.

I just wanted to talk about an idea for a drabble I had but there are a bunch of twists and turns that the game takes. The scariest part isn't the monsters but the existential dread.

So Skyrim would be more your speed? It is a roleplaying game. It does have some surprise horror moments if you go towards certain side quests but it isn't horror. It IS fantasy so of course there are giant spiders. And I have really bad arachnophobia.

Have you played our good lord and savior Stardew Valley? It's a cozy farming/dating game.

You're more than welcome to discuss the drabble idea!! I don't mind spoilers or anything, so I'd be happy to hear it! Yeah, I've def heard of Skyrim, but haven't played it yet. Thankfully fantasy monsters don't bother me too much, in all honesty, but I can understand arachnophobia concerns. I'm sure there's plenty of spider-free mods out there!

I haven't played it, but I have heard of Stardew Valley! My younger sister is really into cozy games so she picked it up and according to her it's super hard in the resource-gathering aspect. I mainly just know that it's a farming-sim type game where you can romance people and also the grandpa has a really messed up bed.

(On that note, have you ever heard of the scrapped game Everhaven/Project Dragon? I've been obsessed with the concepts and if you like Stardew, it probably would be up your alley... If it ever got released...)

So...every now and again I get a little Soma itch. I've thought of a sequel idea but it wouldn't work as a sequel. So been thinking about bringing it out as an original story in some form. But last night the plot bunnies gave me an idea that could actually work as a fic.

Basically the world has ended and the majority of events takes place on the underwater facility Pathos II. The WAU (an artificial intelligence) in canon has put digital copies of people into machines. So if its reach ended up getting extended that could allow for people outside of Pathos II to have digital copies inserted into random robots. Then the Simon in the Abyss can end up getting onto land and meeting one of them.

If you don't try to rush yourself, Stardew Valley is extremely calming. All you need to do is manage your time and it is really calming. I do the Joja Route as it is the easiest way to get auto-petters and focus on animal husbandry. For first timers I'd suggest the Community Center route as it forces you to interact with all aspects of the game.

I've never heard of Project Dragon. But it has the word dragon so I'm interested.

Ooh, sounds interesting! Getting to see the whole world out there... And duly noted! I'll remember that if I ever pick up Stardew.

Okay, Everhaven: it was basically a crafting/survival sandbox game, a bit more in the veins of Minecraft or Breath of the Wild (though crafting, farming, NPC bonds, etc would have all been big parts of the gameplay loop), and would have basically involved you traveling through a fantasy land and crafting your own narrative within through building and interacting with the land and its residents at the bequest of its god. It looked super promising, but while it was in development, the studio making it got acquired by a crypto company that tried to force blockchain nonsense in it, and when they refused, the team was given about three months to find a new distributor—but the executives changed their mind and canned it a month in. It's honestly such a shame, because it had such a good aesthetic and looked so fun! If you look up Everhaven you're bound to find all the gorgeous concept art.

And yes, there would have been dragons!! One of the playable races was a group of anthro dragon people, and you could even have pet dragons that you could befriend and ride!!

I currently have two farms in Stardew Valley I'm working on. With the 1.6 update you get portraits of all the spouses so...I'm going through them all to get all the portraits on one of the farms. Takes a little bit of time as the vanilla game doesn't have an option of marrying everyone at once.

Everhaven sounds neat and then you add in an anthro dragon people AND dragon pets?!

Good luck on that! I guess a polyamory option would make everything a bit too easy there lol.

And yes, it looked so gorgeous and fun, and I'm deeply in mourning that it never got to see the light of day.

Thanks =D

If you date all of them at once, they can confront you in the saloon and say that if you were open about wanting a polyamorous relationship they would have agreed. So not having an option outside of that cutscene just make that line not make sense.

It's sad when good games aren't made. With the Elder Scrolls series it's a joke that the next mainline entry won't ever happen.

Yeah, I can understand that. Also RIP Elder Scrolls, never to see another main title for as long as Todd Howard breathes or something... In all seriousness though, it truly is a shame.

All I want for Elder Scrolls 6 is for the Thalmor to be the main enemies so I can tear them apart! Attacking groups of Thalmor in Skyrim can't sustain me forever!

...anyways...sometimes a sequel/game comes when you least expect it. It took, I think, Alan Wake 2 13 years to come out as the rights holders weren't interested and then it took Remedy awhile to wrest control for the series.
