Welcome! All of the below advice is from the perspective of the legacy site (subeta.net) rather than through the Kumos site (kumos.subeta.net) which is still being built and so has some odd quirks and links that just open back up to a framed version of the original site.

Early on, a quick (and fun) way to make money is through playing games (on the legacy site, use the "subeta" drop down to get to games), as well as completing quests for different NPCs. Sarah is the best for newcomers, although once you have more than a certain amount of money in your account, she will lock and a different NPC (Saggitarius) will open. Quests can sometimes be difficult if the NPC is asking for an item you cannot afford. Early on, I would probably avoid Quentin who does not always give a good sP return, but does come with the chance of some lucrative drop (amulets that can be sold for 150-200k each, or exchanged for a chance to get a tome that helps with battle). You should also go through other dailies such as the Bath House, which can be found from the "Dailies" link on the starting page.

You can get food at the Free Food Center (link) each day, although unless you are battling or going for achievements, there isn't really a punishment for pets sitting hungry.

You can also make money as you gather items around the site, either from quests, food center, other dailies, Donation Corner (occasionally has items), battling, games, etc, by creating a shop and selling the items.

There is also, of course, the way to spend real currency in exchange for CSC (the premium currency) which can be sold for sP, or used to purchase special items, extra pet slots, certain kinds of potions, etc.

  • quests are a very reliable way to make money. also, make a shop and fill it with any items you get as quest rewards that you don't want to keep.

  • you can buy food and other items from the main shops, though sometimes items sell for cheaper in user shops, so it can be worth comparing prices.

  • you can keep your pets fed by checking them into the resort (located in Veta Lake), but there's also no downside to letting your pet stay hungry unless you want to battle with them.

  • playing with toys will increase your pet's happiness, but you can also keep their happiness maxed out by giving them a minion.

  • you can train your pets in the training center (located in Riverside Valley).

and then some other general tips even though you didn't ask about these specifically:

  • i strongly recommend the fansite subetalodge as a good source for learning where to get any items you might be interested in. it also lets you create checklists for collection items, among other features.

  • look at the different pet and color options and see if there are any you want to work towards owning.

  • in addition to creating pets, you can occasionally find some up for adoption in the adoption center (though it's usually empty these days). you can also transform an existing pet's species and color with elixirs and potions. for example, if you wanted to turn your common pherret into a dawn pherret, you could either use a Dawn Potion or a Dawn Pherret Elixir. if you wanted to turn your pherret into a bloodred antlephore, you could either use a Bloodred Antlephore Elixir, or any other Antlephore Elixir followed by a Bloodred Potion. often it's cheaper to use an elixir with the desired color than to use a potion, but not all colors can be achieved with elixirs.

  • in the wardrobe, you can check the "all items" option to play around with all the wearables on the site (and also filter by hiding or showing CWs; i recommend hiding them to start with). this is a good way to get a sense for the many avatar customization options subeta has to offer, and to find wearables you want to buy.

Hey! There will be a news post soon, I assume, but a site event is about to start today called Masquerade. LINK TO OFFICIAL LORE in this event, users can ask to 'dance' with each other, using the code (click the speech bubble icon at the top of my post where it says Posted on: 6/13/25 at whatever whatever, and you can see the code I used.)

How Masquerade Works

  • Must have an item on your avatar with the word "Mask" in it. There are several cheap ones on the site (under 5,000sp)
  • On the news/home page of subeta, the right column will have links to the Steamworks Menagerie and Libertine Lounge, as well as a button to match you randomly with a dance partner.
  • if your dance partner accepts your invite to dance, you both get some tokens, either Steamworks Trinkets or a Lounge Trinket that you can turn into your 'currency bank' to buy items from Steamwroks Menagerie and Libertine Lounge, respectfully.

tips

  • Libertine Lounge is mostly food. Some books and some wearable foods in previous years
  • Steamworks Menagerie is mostly wearables, books, stickers, etc. Everything else basically.
  • You can buy from any year year-round as long as your have trinkets in your bank
  • if users ask you to dance, it will show up in your 'events' tab on the left side of the page. You have to accept each dance to get trinkets. If you click accept on one dance, you can refresh the page until it tells you no one else asked to dance, so you can make sure you don't miss any dances. The events tab is the only place it will inform you if you have pending dances.

How do Subeteans work together? My favorite aspect of Subeta is the community that helps each other during these events. There will be a special forum topic for Masquerade where users will start making chains to 'dance with the user above'. It operates with the understanding that if you post, you WILL ask them to dance and they will accept and you both benefit. Please don't break these chains! There will also be some users holding contests with the understanding that if you dance with them X amount of times, Each dance correlates to a ticket/point that you have a chance of winning a big prize or can buy from a user shop.

I hope this helps, I've been playing for over 11 years, usually for the events and seeing new items be added to seasonal shops. <3

you're welcome :)

btw if you want someone to get a notification that you've responded to their forum post, you can either click on the little megaphone icon at the top right of their post to generate a "ping" for them in the textbox, or you can manually enter it yourself (the @ symbol followed by their username, which you can either type or copy-paste, with no space in between).

subeta is a super fun site (i say biased as someone who has been playing since 2009) but of course when you're just starting out it's hard to know what to even do or look at or think about lol. so if there's an area you're curious about (like personalizing pets, or how collections work, or what to do with any special currencies you might find yourself in possession of, or whatever else) just lmk if you have any other questions.
